Peaslee died Monday of natural causes at his home in Sherman Oaks, Pillot announced. The two had collaborated for 35 years.
“I will be forever thankful to the universe that I was with him for several hours that day, that I was able to hold his hand, recount all the stories — way too many to tell, but not nearly enough to fill the hole in my heart,” Pillot wrote on Instagram.
Peaslee and Pillot teamed on ABC’s Coach from 1989-93, on NBC’s Just Shoot Me! from 2002-03, on ABC’s According to Jim from 2005-09 and on Disney Channel’s Liv and Maddie from 2013-17.

It isn’t just you. We’re two weeks into the new year and every show on TV has become a murder mystery.
There are reality murder mysteries (Traitors) and animated murder mysteries (Grimsburg) and British murder mysteries (Criminal Record) and occult murder mysteries (Sanctuary: A Witch’s Tale). There are murder mysteries without daylight (True Detective: Night Country) and adapted recent murder mysteries (Fool Me Once) and adapted characters in original murder mysteries (Monsieur Spade).
Those are just January premieres. So far. There’ll be at least one more new murder mystery before the end of the week (The Woman in the Wall).
It’s easy to point to the blockbuster success of the two Knives Out movies and the steady success of the Kenneth Branagh/Michael Green-steered Hercule Poirot movies as a business-driven cause.
Sociologically, it’s easy to point to a decade of distrust of institutional policing...

Happy #RobertEnglundDay!
About one third of the 150+ acting credits accumulated over the course of Robert Englund’s 50-year career fall under the horror genre. Screambox is streaming five of them, along with the all-new documentary, Hollywood Dreams & Nightmares: The Robert Englund Story.
Here are six Robert Englund movies you can watch on Screambox now…
Galaxy of Terror
Before moving to Elm Street, Englund went to space for 1981’s Galaxy of Terror, the first of two back-to-back Alien knock-offs produced by Roger Corman. The film follows a ragtag spaceship crew on a rescue mission to a barren planet, where they encounter a deadly creature. In a slight twist on Ridley Scott’s sci-fi/horror classic, Galaxy of Terror uses its victims’ own fears against them — which, incidentally, is similar to Freddy’s modus operandi.

The last episode before the two-part series finale for NCIS: Los Angeles featured Callen (Chris O’Donnell) getting a file on his life — and learning just how he and Sam (LL Cool J) ended up as partners. (And thankfully they did! Could you imagine the show without their banter? We can’t either.) In “The Reckoning,” Callen came face-to-face with Pembrook (Jere Burns), who had been part of the spy program he’d unwittingly been entered into as a kid. And in their last meeting of the episode, during which he got that aforementioned file, Callen also heard more about Hetty’s (Linda Hunt) role in his part in (and out of) it. She’d pulled him out of the program because she “was consumed with guilt” for putting him in it, wanting him to fulfill his potential. “That world was all she knew. It’s all she had to offer you,...

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for NCIS: LA Season 14 Episode 19, “The Reckoning.”] “Grisha Callen, this is your life.” That is essentially what Pembrook (Jere Burns) says to Chris O’Donnell’s character at the end of the last NCIS: Los Angeles episode before the two-part series finale. Leading up to that, members of Drona (now in various government agencies) were killed by those who were part of the program and used (by Pembrook) in black ops. If you ask CIA Rafael Cortes, “Pembrook made monsters, including Agent Callen.” Pembrook reaches out to Callen, who goes with him but doesn’t want to hear anything he has to say. At the time, Pembrook thought what he was doing to Callen and the others as children were for the greater good, but he knew he was wrong. He reveals that Pembrook also knows everything about Callen because he’s been watching him ...

With its third-to-last episode ever, CBS’ NCIS: Los Angeles this Sunday night made headway in answering Callen’s lingering questions about his childhood as a Drona subject.
This week’s episode saw Callen get invited to a meet-up with Harold Pembrook (played again by Jere Burns), though the elusive and infamous Drona shrink went to great pains to make sure that he and Grisha were alone and not surveilled. To that end, he led Callen into a swimming pool… a change of clothes… and then a van (inside of which Pembrook was crouched with a pistol). Pembrook then directed Callen...

There are several reasons why "Justified" is one of the finest series of the Peak Television era. The show captured the snappy repartee and peculiar characterizations of the Elmore Leonard stories on which it was based, and was cast to utter perfection. We savored every second we spent in the hotbed of Bluegrass criminality that is Harlan County, and were sad to see it close out after six seasons. But endings are important. They're necessary. And "Justified" is one of the few shows that knew precisely when to end its run.
As much as I love "The Sopranos" and "Mad Men," these shows strained a bit down the stretch. "Justified" always kept its plates spinning. After establishing the Givens-Crowder feud in the first season, creator Graham Yost and his writers expertly fleshed out their world with fascinatingly eccentric villains like Wynn Duffy (Jere Burns), Robert Quarles (Neal McDonaugh) and Katherine Hale...

When the clock strikes midnight on New Year’s Eve, there’s only one thing we’re thinking about: All the amazing TV that lies ahead for 2023.

Exclusive: Career Opportunities in Murder and Mayhem, the Hulu series in the works that stars Mandy Patinkin, has put the finishing touches on its already starry ensemble by adding Linda Emond (The Gilded Age) and Jayne Atkinson (House of Cards) in heavily recurring roles.

The NCIS: Los Angeles team has been without its operations manager full-time for quite a while now, and the last we heard, Henrietta “Hetty” Lange (Linda Hunt) was in Syria at the site of a bombing. So when will we get answers as to what happened after that? “She was in at the beginning of this season and then we had her disappear,” showrunner Scott R. Gemmill told Parade.com. “The plan is to follow that up next year with some reveal.” So that means that not only will we have to find out how Hetty survived — more on that in a moment — but Special Agent G. Although the third season of the Angie Tribeca TV show on TBS actually rose in the demo, its ratings remain nothing to write home about it. Still the cable network seems to delight in it, and usually airs it as some sort of marathon, as is the case with the fourth season. How long can this comedy series keep bumbling along? Will Angie Tribeca be cancelled or renewed for season five? Stay tuned. *Status update below.

TBS is asking Angie Tribeca to hand in her gun and badge. The goofy cop comedy starring Rashida Jones has been cancelled after a four-season run, our sister site Variety is reporting.
The Naked Gun-esque comedy starred Jones (Parks and Recreation) as the titular Lapd detective, with rapid-fire puns and sight gags whizzing past as fast as bullets. Hayes MacArthur and Deon Cole both co-starred as fellow cops Jay Geils and DJ Tanner — you see what we mean by “goofy”? — but both exited as series regulars before the fourth and final season. It’s official: There will not be a fifth season for Angie Tribeca, TBS’ cop spoof comedy series created by Nancy and Steve Carell and starring Rashida Jones.
There had been persistent chatter that Angie Tribeca was done after it wrapped its fourth (and now final) season in December. A number of cast members already have moved on, getting other gigs.
Angie Tribeca was in the same situation as two other TBS comedy series, Wrecked and The Guest Book. Wrecked officially was canceled last month, while there still isn’t a formal decision on the Greg Garcia anthology The Guest Book.
There are three remaining TBS original scripted series, The O.G., The Detour and Search Party.

It’s back to the future this weekend for TBS’ screwball Lapd comedy. Just like it did for its rookie year in 2016, Season 4 of Angie Tribeca will be available to binge with a two-night marathon this weekend. Watch the new trailer above.
Episodes 1-5 of the new season starring Rashida Jones as the title cop will air starting at 8 p.m. Saturday, followed by 6-10 at 8 p.m. Sunday. The series launched with a 25-hour marathon in January 2016.
There are a couple of new series-regular faces for this go-round, with Bobby Cannavale playing Tribeca’s estranged son Angie Jr. and Kiersey Clemons as Maria Charo, a rebellious genius recruited from a local college who speaks 50 different languages — but only at the tourist level. She also is a tech expert, whose only weakness is computers.

X-Files Recap is a weekly column by Keith Uhlich covering Chris Carter's 10-episode continuation of the X-Files television series.Trust your instincts. I had a notion during the teaser sequence of “Nothing Lasts Forever” (episode 9 of The X-Files’ 11th season, written by Karen Nielsen and directed by James Wong) that it would be best recapped alongside “My Struggle IV” (the season, and possibly series finale, written and directed by Xf creator Chris Carter). Amid the sanguine, pre-opening credits hubbub—a pair of cannibalistic physicians harvest (and taste-sample) human organs, only to be interrupted by an avenging angel vigilante named Juliet Bocanegra (Carlena Britch)—there’s a fleeting audio clip on a car radio of Tad O’Malley (Joel McHale), the paranoid host of an Alex Jones-esque media pageant who was last seen in Season 10's "My Struggle II," bellowing about mind-altering gases and chem trails. It’s a...

[Editor’s note: Spoilers for “The X-Files” Season 11 Episode 9, “Nothing Lasts Forever,” follow.]
Previously, on “The X-Files”…
Agents Mulder (David Duchovny) and Scully (Gillian Anderson) solve weird crimes for the FBI, and a big part of their partnership is that Scully believes in God (and is a practicing Catholic). Meanwhile, Mulder believes in aliens, Scully, and not much else.
This Week’s Dossier
Somebody’s harvesting organs for non-organ-donation purposes, and Mulder and Scully are on the case to figure out why — but there’s really not much mystery to it after we get introduced to the wacky cult created by former film and TV star Barbara Beaumont (Fiona Vroom, whose goofy performance is one of the episode’s biggest positives), who is working with Dr. Luvenis (Jere Burns) to use the organs of their cult underlings to give themselves eternal beauty and life. (And hey, it seems to be working, given that Barbara’s in her 70s and Dr.

Workaholics is a wonderful comedy that fits right in at Comedy Central, but can the trio break out into the film world? If this teaser trailer for their new film Game Over, Man! has anything to say about it, then Yes.
This teaser is for the original Netflix film Game Over, Man!, an action comedy that looks like it makes fun of the action film genre. It is directed by Workaholics director Kyle Newacheck with Workaholics stars Adam Devine, Anders Holm, and Blake Anderson as the Leads. Also starring in the film will be Jere Burns.
The teaser is simple, but still shows some fun and the great chemistry of the main three leads. It's about three friends who are just about to get their video game financed when a terrorist takes over. Sounds like a Die Hard-inspired story, but with the Workaholic guys, and that is definitely not a bad thing.

Netflix comedy “Game Over, Man!” has added Jere Burns to the cast, TheWrap has learned exclusively. The film is set after a telethon is hijacked at The Stanford Hotel, and three unlikely losers must find a way to escape the hotel without being executed by terrorists. The title is a callback to the phrase uttered by Bill Paxton’s stressed-out Marine character in the 1986 sci-fi classic “Aliens.” “Workaholics” creators Adam Devine, Anders Holm, Blake Anderson and Kyle Newacheck developed the project together and Seth Rogen is producing.
