The streaming service has picked up the U.S. rights to the series, which was originally commissioned by ViacomCBS-owned UK broadcaster Channel 5 and co-financed by Sony Pictures Television.

Verve Pictures has debuted a new trailer for Lucy Brydon drama ‘Body of Water’.

Having just completed another round of treatment for chronic anorexia, acclaimed war photographer Stephanie (Sian Brooke) is working hard to reconnect with her family. Her mother Susan (Amanda Burton) is supportive but preoccupied with her forthcoming wedding to Annette (Kazia Pelka). Meanwhile, Stephanie’s teenage daughter, competitive swimmer Pearl (Fabienne Piolini-Castle), is angry and full of resentment, refusing to give her mother a second chance. Stephanie will need all her strength to keep her head above water.

Written & directed by Lucy Brydon, the film stars Siân Brooke, Amanda Burton, Fabienne Piolini-Castle & Nick Blood.

Fox has put into development two British adaptations – remakes of crime drama Silent Witness and off-beat comedy This Country — with significant commitments.

The network has handed a script plus penalty to Silent Witness to star The Fighter’s Melissa Leo, who will exec produce alongside Outlander writer Joy Blake and Kim and Eric Tannenbaum, and a put pilot commitment to This Country from Sex and the City writer and producer Jenny Bicks and Bridesmaids director Paul Feig.

Both shows come via Lionsgate’s deal with BBC Studios, which has already seen NBC hand a put pilot commitment to an adaptation of Channel 4 comedy Home and CBS develop a remake of BBC comedy Ghosts.

HBO Max has picked the U.S. rights to British crime drama White House Farm starring The Irishman’s Stephen Graham and Black ’47’s Freddie Fox.

The WarnerMedia-owned streaming service will air the six-part series in the States next year after striking a deal with All3Media International.

It is the latest British title snapped up by the streamer, following deals with BBC Studios for Doctor Who as well as Ricky Gervais’ The Office, Top Gear, Luther, The Honorable Woman, Pure, Trigonometry, Stath Lets Flats, Home and Ghosts.

The show, which is produced by Catherine The Great producer New Pictures, sees Graham, who also starred in HBO’s Boardwalk Empire, plays Dci ‘Taff’ Jones and Fox plays Jeremy Bamber. Lucy Brydon’s debut feature looks at the mother-daughter-grandmother dynamic through an anorexic protagonist.

Filming is underway on Sick(er), the family drama commissioned through Film London’s low-budget Microwave scheme.

Principal photography began on April 30, filming will take place on location in London and Essex.

Karla Crome leads the cast of a new ITV thriller The Level which has just started filming in London and Brighton.

Karla (represented by Troika), stars as Detective Sergeant Nancy Devlin who has a secret double life. Originally, Single Handed was produced by Rte for broadcast in Ireland but London based ITV bought the rights to show the rural cop drama and it quickly became a hit in Britain. Season two was co-produced by the UK network along with the Dublin based team that were responsible for the original.

In the drama, Owen McDonnell plays Jack Driscoll who is a surprisingly laid back police officer who is for the most part single-handedly keeping the folks of the West of Ireland on the straight and narrow. In this box set, Jack Driscoll solves three mysteries each of which lasts two episodes. The stories are real and involve issues such as arson, long lost relatives and out of control teenagers. Drive filmmaker Nicolas Winding Refn's dreams were dashed after his plea to direct an episode of Doctor Who was turned down.

The Danish-born director is a big fan of the British sci-fi series and was desperate to step behind the camera and take charge of an episode - but his offer was snubbed by show bosses.

He tells Shortlist magazine, "I would have loved to direct Doctor Who but they didn't want me - turned me down last year. Maybe if they revive (U.K. sci-fi programme) Blake's 7, I could do that. I love it. It's great. That could be fun to update."

Winding Refn is no stranger to U.K. TV shows - he once directed small screen adaptations of murder mysteries featuring Agatha Christie's fictional sleuth Miss Marple.

He adds, "I did two episodes of Marple back to back because, basically, I needed the money. It was fun - a good experience. I really liked working with Geraldine McEwan, she was a great actress. And Amanda Burton too."...

Doctor Who co-star Karen Gillan, who plays companion Amy Pond, took home the trophy for best actress at last night's TV Choice Awards.

Also nominated in that category were Elisabeth Sladen of Doctor Who spin-off The Sarah Jane Adventures, Amanda Burton (Waterloo Road) and Vicky McClure (This is England '86). Sladen died of cancer in April at the age of 63.

The event, presented by Ben Miller at the Savoy Hotel in central London, was a good night for Doctor Who writer Steven Moffat with the long-running sci-fi show named best family drama and Sherlock, which he co-writes with Mark Gatiss, named best new drama.

Also up for family drama were Merlin, Casualty and Waterloo Road, while the other new drama contenders were The Walking Dead, Downton Abbey and Single Father.

In addition, previous Time Lord David Tennant was named best actor for his role in Single Father, beating Matt Smith...
