When she was eighteen she attended Manchester University to study Drama, there she got her degree at twenty-one, by then she was married to Steven Tucker, Europarks Director. Debra began her career by doing some live events like pantomimes and circuses until she got her break-through by starring in The Crusiple playing Abigale. She then went into fringe theater and some professional theater. Although she has mostly done theater, she has done television. She's been in the TV series "Strangers" and had a small role in "Brookside". In 1987, she had her break-through on screen by starring in Gunpowder, an action feature film starring Stephen Crane and Gordon Jackson. She then moved to London with Steven and shocked the west end by her excellent performances. She was in a one-woman play called "Fallen", she got excellent reviews and then she had a job at the National Theatre in a play called "Lunch Girls" where also her reviews were quite impressive. This got her jobs in radio and commercial work. She also did voice-over work for Tescos in Glasgow. She was then offered a job back on screen in 1990 in Secret Weapon.
