Exclusive: The Paramount Television Studios label is making a comeback — and returning to its roots.

Skydance Media on Monday morning announced the top executive team for the combined Paramount company after its acquisition of Paramount Global closes August 7. It includes Skydance’s Dana Goldberg, who will serve as Co-Chair of Paramount Pictures and Chair of Paramount Television and will lead Paramount Pictures and Nickelodeon Films (with Josh Greenstein) as well as Paramount Television Studios.

This marks the official rebirth of Paramount TV Studios, whose previous incarnation shut down a year ago after an 11-year run. Being housed at Paramount Pictures under Goldberg, the new Paramount TV Studios is a throwback to its original incarnation, launched in 2013 by Paramount Pictures’ Brad Grey and run by Amy Powell.

Under revised terms of their employment contracts filed with the SEC, the three Paramount co-CEOs have a change of control provision, an incurable provision that is triggered if they’re demoted from being CEO in the event of a Paramount Global sale or merger. Because Skydance announced and filed with the SEC that David Ellison will be the new CEO of the company once the merger is complete, that triggers this provision. Though the CEOs have the option to stay at Paramount if they’re offered a different role, McCarthy is not interested in remaining with the company, an insider told TheWrap.

However, it seems as if the trio have had help piecing together the story from one of the two remaining members of the Fab Four.

With theaters preparing for a British Invasion ahead of the upcoming Beatles cinematic event in 2028, Ringo Starr is making sure the movies get it right.

After flying to London in April to meet with director Sam Mendes, the Beatles drummer revealed he had issues with how his first marriage to Maureen Starkey Tigrett was depicted in the script for the upcoming four-part biopic about the legendary British rock band, which is penned by Jez Butterworth, Peter Straughan and Jack Thorne.

“He had a writer — very good writer, great reputation, and he wrote it great, but it had nothing to do with Maureen and I,” Starr explained to The New York Times. “That’s not how we were. I’d say, ‘We would never do that.'”

Starr is now pleased with his depiction in the script, but he remains skeptical of how Mendes will shoot four films at a time.

The Indiana Jones franchise debuted in 1981 with Raiders of the Lost Ark, and featured five films. For the last release, 2023's Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, Steven Spielberg didn't return to the directorial chair, and the film disappointed in theaters.

For his last Indy film, 2008's Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, Spielberg reunited with frequent collaborator David Koepp, who wrote the script. The final entry had James Mangold at the helm, and Koepp co-wrote the script with Mangold, Jez Butterworth, and John-Henry Butterworth. In a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter to promote his latest film, Jurassic World Rebirth, Koepp solved how the Indiana Jones franchise could continue: as a streaming show.

The first four entries were massive commercial hits, but Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny flopped in theaters. Since its release, there have been no other plans to continue the franchise.

Don’t worry, Beatles fan: Ringo Starr is involved in that upcoming four-part Beatles biopic. The iconic drummer recently told The New York Times that he met with director Sam Mendes to go through one of the scripts line-by-line. The duo collaborated together for two days in April 2025.

While Starr did not cite which out of the assumed four scripts he reviewed, Jez Butterworth (“Ford v Ferrari”), Peter Straughan (“Conclave”) and Jack Thorne (“Adolescence”) are all announced as writing the screenplays.

Starr said he gave “extensive notes” to director Mendes while fact-checking the scripts. The scenes in particular that depicted Starr’s family and his first wife, Maureen Starkey Tigrett (whose casting has not yet been announced), were among the sequences that Starr urged to have reworked.

While not the most obvious choice, especially given the speculations surrounding more veteran performers, their decision to lean toward a relatively unknown actor is interesting nonetheless.

It was recently reported that the search for Clayface's lead had come down to four actors: Jack O'Connell (28 Years Later), Tom Blyth (The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes), Leo Woodall (The White Lotus), and George MacKay (1917). 

Well, it's turned out to be none of them. DC Studios co-ceo James Gunn has confirmed that Welsh actor Tom Rhys Harries will take on the title role in Clayface, with The Wrap's Umberto Gonzalez reporting that he'll play the Matt Hagen version of the villain.

While Harries is a relative unknown, he's racked up credits in Apple TV+'s Suspicion, as well as The Return, Kandahar, and The Gentleman. 

Born in Cardiff, Wales, Harries attended The Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama and made his West End stage debut in 2013 in Jez Butterworth's Mojo opposite Colin Morgan, Rupert Grint, and Ben Whishaw.

When it came to casting the lead in DC Studios’ next big movie Clayface, the studio went with a fresh face, that being Welsh actor Tom Rhys Harries.

The actor from the Uma Thurman-starring Apple TV series Suspicion and such movies as Uberto Pasolini’s The Return (starring Ralph Fiennes and Juliette Binoche), the Gerard Butler action title Kandahar and Guy Ritchie’s The Gentlemen, landed the role from a competitive list of British thespians that included 28 Years Later‘s Jack O’Connell, The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes‘ Tom Blyth and 1917‘s George MacKay.

The movie, from Speak No Evil director James Watkins, is the next big project for James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DC Studios after next summer’s Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, scheduled for release on September 11, 2026. Clayface will be shooting at Warner Bros Leavesden studio in the UK.

Nearly a month after the Season 1 finale dropped on Paramount+, the streamer has yet to confirm whether or not the series will be returning for a second season. The series currently holds a solid 75% critic rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with an even stronger 77% audience score, reflecting just how invested viewers have become in the Harrigan empire's bloody chess game. While Paramount+ continues to play it coy, the cast has been vocal about their hopes to return.

Guy Ritchie is one of the filmmakers who reunite with some actors frequently. After working with Tom Hardy in 2008 on RocknRolla, the duo recently reunited for MobLand.

The Paramount+ gangster series has been a major hit, breaking many viewership records for the streaming service. The crime series stars Hardy in one of the leading roles alongside actors like Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren. Following its Season 1 finale early this month, MobLand is now gaining even more interest on Paramount+, per FlixPatrol.

The Unholy Trinity debuted in select theaters this weekend, and the film has earned a disastrous 17% score from critics on Rotten Tomatoes. Paramount+’s critically acclaimed The Agency: Central Intelligence has signed on new cast members for the series’ upcoming second season. Christian Ochoa Lavernia, Clayne Crawford, Keanush Tafreshi, and Medalion Rahimi have boarded the spy thriller. Raza Jaffrey and Tessa Ferrer are also committed to season two roles.

The just-announced cast will join returning series stars Michael Fassbender, Jeffrey Wright, Jodie Turner-Smith, and Richard Gere. Season two is now in production, but Paramount+ has not announced a target premiere date.

Criss is a first-time Tony nominee for his role in Maybe Happy Ending, and Goldsberry won a Tony for originating the role of Angelica Schuyler in Hamilton, which will celebrate its 10th anniversary with a performance featuring members of the original Broadway cast on the 2025 awards show.

Having just completed five movies and Guy Ritchie’s Shakespearean gangster series “MobLand,” Pierce Brosnan is kicking up his heels in Kauai. It’s the day after the airing of the Paramount+’s series bloody first season finale. He’s tired, but happy to declaim on a show that he and his wife Keely Shaye Smith enjoyed watching every week as it unfurled, commercials and all. “It is a toxic mess of pure mayhem and great shenanigans,” said Brosnan on Zoom.

Brosnan was the first in, after Ritchie sent him five scripts by showrunner Ronan Bennett. At first, Brosnan figured he was going for a North or South London accent: that’s where Conrad Harrigan bases his crime family. But Ritchie had other plans, said Brosnan: “In his shoot-from-the-hip style, with great bravado, he said, ‘Go Irish. Don’t worry about it. We’ll sort it out on the day.

In one of the most mind-boggling turn of events, Guy Ritchie delivered yet another masterpiece in the form of MobLand, which has been more than just winning the hearts of fans worldwide. With Pierce Brosnan as one of the leading prominent characters of the crime drama series, the show really did wonders enough to return for a season 2.

Of course, the hope about the series getting revived for a second season is still high, with Tom Hardy already getting everyone’s hopes up about the same. But he isn’t the only one who wants to return to the saga, considering how even Brosnan recently admitted that he is ready to “go again” despite having a big heartbreaking regret about the first season.
