Kurt Thomas, a breakthrough American Olympic gymnast, has died at the age of 64 due to a stroke, which occurred on May 24, caused by a tear in the basilar artery in his brain stem, according to the Associated Press. While Thomas’s legacy will undoubtedly be defined by gold medal wins, connoisseurs of campy action films best remember him from his high-flying starring role in 1985 cult classic Gymkata.

Thomas was an initially a multi-sport athlete with accomplishments on the basketball courts, having led the Indiana State Sycamores to an Ncaa team title in 1977. However, he rose to fame in the late-1970s, hitting the talk show circuit as a bellwether star in men’s gymnastics, a category that had been mostly associated with its women’s division. After having competed in the 1976 Montreal Olympics, Thomas broke big in the 1978 Strasbourg, France World Artistic Gymnastics Championships, in which he became the first U.

A Nightmare on Elm Street

Robert Englund will reprise his iconic role of Freddy Krueger to host El Rey's upcoming 45-hour "A Nightmare on Elm Street" marathon which kicks off the day before Valentine's Day. The run will include the first five films in the 'Elm Street' series along with several episodes of the "Freddy's Nightmares" anthology series.

Showtime's new series "Billions" drew record numbers for Showtime on Sunday night, the drama pulling in 2.99 million viewers, both in premiere ratings and advance sampling, to make the best series debut ever for the cabler - topping the 2.91M that tuned in for the "Ray Donovan" series premiere.

Dean thinks he is seeing Castiel everywhere. So he throws himself into a case that Sam has dug up: a little kid disappears from his school around the same time a freak tornado hits. Similar cases of people disappearing just before freak natural disasters (earth-splitting earthquakes, hail storms, etc.) The boys are stuck, but they have a new “issue” to deal with: Castiel is back. He is not at full power (which is why Dean thought he saw Cas - he couldn’t connect with the boys), he looks like hell, and he has no idea how he got out of purgatory. With Castiel there, the boys catch a break - even a small one: the missing people are all potential prophets. When Kevin dies, another will rise.

Hopefully there won't be any real slicing and dicing of the prophet Kevin in next week's Episode 8.07 of "Supernatural," but considering the turn of events depicted in this clip provided by The CW, we're not overly confident. After all, everyone knows no good ever comes of hiring a witch.

TBS has recruited Lou Diamond Phillips, Kristy Swanson and rapper-actor Coolio to star in the upcoming original thriller Red Water. The film, from Sony Pictures TV, centers on a bull shark who wreaks havoc in a Louisiana river. Phillips and Swanson play a divorced couple searching the river for natural gas whose boat is hijacked by a pair of criminals (Coolio, Jaimz Woolvett) on a quest for stolen money dropped in the river. Recovery of the cash is complicated by relentless shark attacks. Charlie Carner is directing the telefilm from a script by Christopher Mack and J.D. Feigelson. Michael Larkin (ABC's Murder in the Heartland) is executive producing the movie, scheduled to premiere Aug. 10, with Mitch Engel (TNT's George Wallace) producing. On the big screen, Phillips next appears in Stark Raving Mad and the Ron Shelton-directed Two Cops.
