Obtained the nickname 'Jimmy Carr-nage' after his 'Celebrity In A Reasonably Priced Car' lap on Top Gear, from driving extremely recklessly. Nevertheless, as of 2005, he remains the fastest male 'star in a reasonably -priced car' .... (yachtswoman Ellen Macarthur is the fastest overall as at January 2006)

In 2012 he was described as "morally wrong" by British Prime Minister David Cameron for investing millions of pounds in the K2 Tax scheme. Although the scheme was not said to be illegal, therefore tax avoidance and not tax evasion, he subsequently apologised.

The son of Nora Carr, Jimmy has two brothers, Colin (older) and Patrick (younger).
