- His partner since 2001 has been the Canadian-born editor Karoline Copping, with whom he has a son.
- Obtained the nickname 'Jimmy Carr-nage' after his 'Celebrity In A Reasonably Priced Car' lap on Top Gear, from driving extremely recklessly. - In 2012 he was described as "morally wrong" by British Prime Minister David Cameron for investing millions of pounds in the K2 Tax scheme. Although the scheme was not said to be illegal, therefore tax avoidance and not tax evasion, he subsequently apologised.
