Night Caller opens with visions of a murder underneath the main credits before Clementine an operator for Jade Mei’s gets a call from the man she saw in the visions before he commits the crime for real.

And that murder serves notice to viewers that this isn’t going to be a Scream or Blumhouse style mainstream horror film. There are repeated gory closeups of a large knife entering the victim’s body. Some very upsetting news is circulating today, as it's being reported that Herschell Gordon Lewis, aka The Godfather of Gore, has passed away at the age of 87.

The news of Lewis' passing comes from Something Weird Video (via Bloody Disgusting). While the exact cause of death is unknown, there's no doubt that Lewis will be missed by countless people within the horror community, where he touched many lives with his unfiltered creativity both behind and in front of the camera.

Lewis left his unique imprint on the horror genre as early as the 1960s with films like Blood Feast (1963), Two Thousand Maniacs! (1964), Something Weird, The Gruesome Twosome, and A Taste of Blood.

In 2002, Lewis returned to directing with Blood Feast 2: All U Can Eat, and he recently appeared in Marcel Walz's Blood Feast remake and Joe Castro's Terror Toons 3.

Lots of horror films claim to have insane body counts. However, only one claims to have had it verified by Guinness World Records. The Summer of Massacre anthology film boasts eight slashers introduced across five stories throughout the film and a body count that may be the biggest of all time. Wow, that's quite the pile of dead.

Creators of The Summer of Massacre have reported that Guinness World Records has honored them with the distinction of having the largest body count ever in a horror film. We investigated this claim and unfortunately could not verify it with a search of the Guiness World Records website, but that doesn't mean that the red isn't seriously flowing in this film. There's nothing like a sweet summer massacre to brighten the cool winter days. Check out the details below of this anthology that features touts eight killers to stack up the body count and carnage. The 2nd annual PollyGrind assaults Las Vegas during an epic length film festival that runs Oct. 8-17 at Theatre 7 with enough sleaze and violence to make Sin City residents feel right at home.

Actually, the fest does open up on the 7th with a concert at Neon Venus with local acts like Monster Zero, Creepersin and many more.

To a certain enterprising visitor to Los Angeles, the cluster of narrow winding streets above the Cahuenga Pass are the charming gateway to the city's single most recognisable landmark, the Hollywood sign.
