Kika Child, of Spanish and British descent, began her career as a ballet dancer and stage performer in her hometown of Bogota, Colombia. She furthered her studies in theater in Paris, and in 1989 landed her first leading role on television in the show 'A Escondidas', directed by Clara Maria Ochoa. Shortly after, she had the opportunity to work with acclaimed Argentinean filmmaker Leonardo Favio, who cast her as the first wife of the legendary boxer in the film 'Gatica, el Mono', which won the Goya Award, and was nominated to the Oscars in 1994, amongst many other recognitions.
Kika continued starring in both prime-time television series and critically acclaimed films, showcasing her versatility in comedic and dramatic roles by the hand of directors like Pepe Sanchez, Sergio Cabrera, Luis Puenzo, Juan Camilo Pinzon and others, before relocating to New York City in the late 90's, in search of personal and professional growth.
More recently, Kika captivated the audience as Julia in the GALA Theatre production of 'Aunt Julia and the Scriptwriter', based on the novel by Mario Vargas Llosa, under the direction of Jose Zayas. As a grateful founding member of Ramiro Sandoval's company TabulaRasa NYC Theater and Performance Lab, she has been a consistent presence in New York's Spanish Repertory Theater, starring in plays like 'The House of the Spirits' 2009-2011, and 'Doña Flor and her Two Husbands', 2012-2020.
A board member of The Americas Film Festival NY, TAFFNY and a longtime Master of Ceremony of HFFNY -Havana Film Festival NY, Kika continues to appear in films, like "Making the Day" by director Michael Canzoniero, as she gets ready to finish writing her first TV series.
