Toy Story 5's opening scene was recently revealed, showing multiple Buzz Lightyears taking center stage as they become stranded on an island. After getting its start back in 1995, the Toy Storyfranchise is now gearing up for another adventure with Woody and Buzz, with the film's story said to involve the toys contending with new technology. Andrew Stanton and McKenna Harris direct Toy Story 5 from a script by Stanton, with voice cast members including Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Joan Cusack, Ernie Hudson, Tony Hale, Conan O'Brien, and Blake Clark.
As part of an exclusive presentation that ScreenRant attended in New York City earlier this month along with other media outlets, chief creative officer Pete Doctor shared new details about Toy Story 5, including screening the opening scene. Big franchise releases are just around the corner for the summer movie season and two anticipated films for fans are the reboot to the most famous superhero of all-time and the sequel to one of the most beloved comedies ever made. Superman has been confirmed by James Gunn himself to have a runtime of 2 hours and 9 minutes and debunked the rumor that Warner Bros. interfered with his cut. According to Gunn, referring to the rumor, “Zero truth to that. And they couldn’t even if that’s something that they wanted to. It’s a DC Studios film.”
The MPA just released their new ratings bulletin and one thing they are confirming that Gunn doesn’t have to is the rating according to the content in the new DC Universe debut. It can easily be predicted, but Superman has been Rated PG-13 “for violence, action and language.”

While critics may raise their eyebrows at Happy Gilmore returning for another adventure, that might not be the case with fans. I am excited to see Adam Sandler back in the golf field with his over-the-top antics. Netflix released the trailer of Happy Gilmore 2 at a Tudum presentation as a surprise for fans. As much as I am excited for the film, there’s one thing bugging me about the film’s trailer.
The trailer is set as a tribute to the previous film, filled with easter eggs from the 1996 outing. What worries me is that the film would end up as fan service rather than an original film like its predecessor. Julie Bowen, Christopher McDonald, Blake Clark, and Ben Stiller are returning for the sequel.

Adam Sandler came to Netflix's Tudum 2025 live event armed with golf clubs and ready to prove that his long-drive skills are just as incredible as ever. The platform unveiled a new trailer for his much-anticipated sequel, Happy Gilmore 2, which puts the comedian back in the jersey of the titular former hockey player turned golf icon for the first time in almost 30 years. As seen in previous teasers, the film pulls Happy out of retirement to play the game he was made for once more, complete with a new caddie played by Bad Bunny and the same old rival in Christopher McDonald's Shooter McGavin. However, this latest look offers more insight as to why he's bringing his powerful slapshot back to the green.
Since Happy claimed his first gold jacket after defeating McGavin at the end of the 1996 original, he's had a long and prosperous life as a golfer.

Netflix just made a big decision on the release of Chuck Lorre’s new sitcom, that’s much needed for the series!
In the world of TV sitcoms, Chuck Lorre is one of the biggest names around. His record speaks for itself: Roseanne, Cybil, Dharma & Greg, Two and a Half Men, The Big Bang Theory, Mike & Molly, Mom, Young Sheldon, and more. The man is a master of crafting fun comedies for viewers to watch, most of them on CBS.
Lorre has moved a bit toward Netflix in the last few years, creating the acclaimed The Kominsky Method and the underrated Disjointed. So, the word he was crafting a new comedy for the streamer got attention.
What was notable about Leanne was that Netflix gave the series a whopping 16-episode first season order. That’s a rare move for the streamer to show how confident they were in Lorre’s work.

Netflix is coming in hot with its latest original sitcom, as the streamer has unveiled the first batch of images for its upcoming series, Leanne. With a logline that will remind audiences of iconic shows of yesteryear such as Reba and Roseanne, the project follows its titular character, (played by comedian Leanne Morgan), after she’s forced to start life over again thanks to her husband of 33 years leaving her for another woman. The fresh start is certainly a rude awakening for the grandmother who’s well into menopause, but after she shakes off the blues and grabs life by the horns, she finds that she’s going to be more than okay — especially with the safety net of loved ones helping her out along the way.

With four (soon to be five) films in Pixar's beloved "Toy Story" franchise, generations of audiences have been introduced to some of the most lovable characters in animated history. In particular, the core group of Andy's toys remains a staple in the entire catalog of not just Pixar Animation Studios but also Disney as a whole. Obviously, there is the inseparable (at least until "Toy Story 4") duo of Woody (Tom Hanks) and Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), but how can we forget their friends Mr. Potato Head (Don Rickles), Slinky Dog (Jim Varney/Blake Clark), Rex (Wallace Shawn), Hamm (John Ratzenberger), and Bo Peep (Annie Potts)? The original gang of Andy's toys was first introduced to us in 1995, but once "Toy Story 2" hit theaters in 1999, we were introduced to a few new core members of the series, including Mrs. Potato Head (Estelle Harris), Jessie (Joan Cusack), and Bullseye.

Just over two months remain until Happy Gilmore returns to the green, only this time he'll have a new partner accompanying him. Entertainment Weekly just released a new image from the upcoming Happy Gilmore 2 as part of their Summer Preview event, and it not only highlights Adam Sandler's hockey player-turned-golfer in his Boston Bruins gear with a hockey stick in hand, but it also shows his loyal new caddy, Bad Bunny. The three-time Grammy winner is seen dressed up for the next iteration of the Tour Championship, watching intently as Happy shows off his technique. He'll be by the veteran golfer's side throughout the film as Happy looks to return to golf glory this summer.
Bad Bunny will have some big shoes to fill in Happy Gilmore 2. The first film saw the role of the titular golfer's caddy played by the homeless man Otto, who not only accompanied...

Adam Sandler honored his Happy Gilmore co-star Morris, an alligator who appeared in the 1996 comedy, following his death. The actor shared a lengthy tribute to Morris, who retired to the Colorado Gator Farm in 2006 after appearing in numerous films.
“Goodbye, Morris,” Sandler wrote on X. “We are all gonna miss you. You could be hard on directors, make-up artists, costumers – really anyone with arms or legs – but I know you did it for the ultimate good of the film. The day you wouldn’t come out of your trailer unless...

Pixar has found a legendary actor to step into the shoes of the late, great Carl Weathers in Toy Story 5. 2025 sees Pixar release the original film Elio, but next year, one of their most significant franchises returns with Toy Story 5, set for release in June 2026. One actor who sadly won't be returning to the franchise is Carl Weathers, who passed away on Feb. 2, 2024. Weathers previously voiced the character of Combat Carl, a G.I. Joe-type toy that has become a fun new addition to the franchise.
Deadline reports that Ghostbusters star Ernie Hudson will step into the role of Combat Carl for Toy Story 5, taking over for the late great Carl Weathers. Weathers' character debuted in the 2013 Halloween special, Toy Story of Terror, and the actor reprised his role in 2019's Toy Story 4. In 1996, Adam Sandler changed the game — literally — with Happy Gilmore, a wild, foul-mouthed sports comedy about a failed hockey player who channels his rage into becoming an unlikely golf star. Armed with a slapshot swing and zero etiquette, Happy took on snobby country clubs, rival pros, and an alligator — and somehow made golf cool for a generation raised on slapstick and smack talk. The film became an instant cult classic, catapulting Sandler into leading man status and embedding lines like “The price is wrong, bitch” and “Just tap it in” into the comedy lexicon. Nearly 30 years later, Happy’s coming out of retirement. As part of Collider’s Exclusive Preview event, we spoke with director Kyle Newacheck about Happy Gilmore 2, which tees off on Netflix July 25, 2025.
With Sandler back in the lead — and co-writing alongside longtime collaborator Tim Herlihy — the sequel isn’t a nostalgia trip or a cheap gimmick.

Shifting Gears star Tim Allen has shared a delightful exchange between him and his Toy Story co-star, Tom Hanks, on social media. Allen and Hanks first teamed up 30 years ago for Toy Story (1995), the animated adventure film that was not only nominated for three Oscars, but also grossed over $390 million at the global box office against a $30 million budget. The two have since worked together on every Toy Story movie, even as recently as Toy Story 4 in 2019, which grossed over $1 billion at the worldwide box office. Allen posted two photos on his personal X account, one Hanks sent him of him standing behind the Volkswagen I.D. Buzz, and another that he replied to his co-star, recreating his picture.
While their roles in the Toy Story franchise remain some of the most important in both of their careers, Tim Allen and Tom Hanks have both gone on to accomplish great things as actors.

Netflix has just tap, tap, tapped in the first trailer for "Happy Gilmore 2" and honestly, it really does feel like Adam Sandler never left the green, even if his hockey-loving alter-ego looks to be a little rusty.

The Toy Story saga isn't over yet as Toy Story 5 is on its way, and while much is unknown about the upcoming movie's story, a tease from one of its actors suggests Buzz is stepping into the spotlight. Pixar's multi-billion-dollar franchise kicked off in 1995 with the premiere of Toy Story, the animation studio's first feature film. Since then, Pixar has released five movies in the franchise, including three sequels and one spin-off. Since Toy Story is so popular (and brings in a lot of revenue), the studio is developing a fourth sequel featuring the return of Woody and Buzz Lightyear.
Toy Story 5, starring Tom Hanks as Woody and Tim Allen as Buzz Lightyear, is scheduled to be released in theaters on June 19, 2026.

Toy Story franchise isn’t ready to say goodbye just yet. After that tear-jerking, fervent farewell in Toy Story 4, we all thought we had seen the last of Woody, Buzz, and the rest of the gang. Drew Barrymore has revealed the surprisingly dramatic original ending to one of her and Adam Sandlers most beloved movies. Barrymore and Sandler first demonstrated their intoxicating chemistry in 2004s romantic comedy 50 First Dates, and to celebrate the movies 20th anniversary, Barrymore revealed on The Drew Barrymore Show how the story almost ended on a very downbeat note.
In a surprising series of revelations, Barrymore revealed that the rom-com classic was initially titled 50 First Kisses and describes the project as a drama set in Seattle. But the most surprising reveal is the original ending, which would not have given Barrymores Lucy Whitmore, who suffers from short-term memory loss after an accident, and Sandlers Henry Roth the happily ever after that audiences wanted.
Something that always sticks in my mind is the original ending of 50 First Kisses, as it was called at the time. Yeah, it was a drama set in Seattle.
