- Joy Claussen was born on August 14, 1938 in Chicago, Illinois, USA. She was an actress, known for The Bonfire of the Vanities (1990), For Pete's Wake! (2007) and Chaplin (1992). She was married to Tony Scully. She died on October 12, 2021 in Camden, South Carolina, USA.

- She appeared as a co-star in the dinner theater production entitled " Beginner's Luck." The play was written by actor Bob Crane who also at the time appeared as her co-star. It was prior to a presentation of the play in Scottsdale Arizona that Bob Crane was tragically murdered in his hotel room on June 29, 1978. Joy was one of the last individuals to see Bob Crane alive. Hours earlier she had been rehearsing with Bob Crane in preparation for their next theater performance. The crime to this day remains an unsolved mystery.
- She starred in over 200 national TV commercials and is perhaps best known as the spokesperson for AIM toothpaste.
- She was a member of several clubs, including the Daughters of the American Revolution.
