Skins star Jack O’Connell will portray Bobby Charlton in a film about the Munich air disaster that killed several of Manchester United’s young players, known as the Busby Babes.
The film, called United, is based on the true story of Manchester United's legendary "Busby Babes", the youngest side ever to win the Football League, the 1958 Munich Air Crash that claimed eight of the their number and the extraordinary spirit of a city that rebuilt the team in the wake of the disaster. It will also star David Tennant as Manchester United trainer Jimmy Murphy. The tragic events of that day will be seen through the eyes of Charlton (O'Connell), who was on the plane that crashed that February day in 1958.
