A new Star Wars series is always an event, and with Skeleton Crew, Disney+ have taken a page out of Amblin’s book, mixed it with a smidge of Stranger Things, and come up with something wonderful.

The series Jude Law, Ravi Cabot-Conyers, Ryan Kiera Armstrong, Kyriana Kratter, Robert Timothy Smith, Tunde Adebimpe, Kerry Condon and Nick Frost.

Episodes of the original live-action series are directed by Jon Watts, David Lowery, the Daniels (Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert), Jake Schreier, Bryce Dallas Howard and Lee Isaac Chung. The executive producers are Christopher Ford, Jon Watts, Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni, Kathleen Kennedy and Colin Wilson.

Scott Davis sat down with the cast and creators to chart the journey from spark of inspiration (the pitch to Jon Favreau was ‘The Goonies in space’) to the screen. We test their Star Wars knowledge, talk about trepidation when entering the Star Wars universe, and much more.

At times, the latest Disney+ streaming series, Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, feels like a grand family adventure. The story is fun, the special effects are spectacular, and the series doesn’t take itself too seriously. However, the show feels so heavily invested in marketing toward children that it doesn’t seem like it belongs in the world of The Mandalorian or The Book of Boba Fett.

However, the pilot is engaging, with a wonderful opening sequence that is an adolescent homage to the original film’s opening. You will also notice a lack of star power in the first episode. Stars Jude Law and Kerry Condon are noticeably absent from their much-publicized roles. Still, the solid first chapter paves the way for a family-friendly series from start to finish.

Disney+ is moving up its Star Wars: Skeleton Crew premiere date — at least, by a little.

The latest Star Wars drama series will now premiere Monday, Dec. 2 at 6 p.m.

The show was previously slated to premiere Dec. 3. The remainder of the eight-episode season will premiere Tuesdays at 6 p.m.

Skeleton Crew is considered a more kids-targeted Star Wars adventure than some of Disney+’s earlier efforts (see trailer, below). The coming-of-age series “follows the journey of four kids who make a mysterious discovery on their seemingly safe home planet, then get lost in a strange and dangerous galaxy. Finding their way home — and meeting unlikely allies and enemies — will be a greater adventure than they ever imagined.”

“Star Wars: Skeleton Crew,” the latest series from a galaxy far, far away, is releasing on Disney+ a day earlier than originally planned.

The eight-part show, led by Jude Law, is now premiering its first two episodes on Dec. 2 at 6 p.m. Pt. Subsequent episodes will then release on Tuesdays at the same time for the rest of the season. The announcement was also accompanied by new key art for the series.

According to its official synopsis, “Skeleton Crew” follows “the journey of four kids who make a mysterious discovery on their seemingly safe home planet, then get lost in a strange and dangerous galaxy. Finding their way home — and meeting unlikely allies and enemies — will be a greater adventure than they ever imagined.”

Law stars as Jod Na Nawood, a Force-user who is a possible Jedi. In his recent Variety cover story, Law said making “Skeleton Crew” was a “really interesting process.

Skeleton Crew, Disney+’s next live-action Star Wars series, will premiere a day earlier than anticipated.

The streamer has announced that the Jude Law vehicle will launch on Monday, Dec. 2 at 9/8c, with its first two episodes. Subsequent episodes will then drop Tuesdays at 9 pm Et, beginning Dec. 10.

Today, Disney+ announced a new premiere date for Lucasfilm’s upcoming Star Wars: Skeleton Crew. Fans get to watch the thrilling adventure series early, with the first two episodes now premiering on Monday, December 2, at 6:00 p.m. Pst, exclusively on Disney+.

Subsequent episodes will continue to stream on Tuesdays at 6:00 p.m. Pst for the remainder of the season. A brand-new promo and key art were also released today to celebrate Lucasfilm’s newest galactic offering.

The award-winning series first premiered in 2021, with nine shorts by seven different Japanese anime studios celebrating the mythology of Star Wars through unique cultural perspectives.

This morning, I settled into writing a speculative piece about the upcoming series Skeleton Crew. After the recent trailer, the showrunners Jon Watts and Chris Ford were interviewed by StarWars.com to discuss the series in more detail. One part stood out to me, so I took some time to muse about it.

In the original article, as captured here by Caitlin from Skytalkers podcast, Ford discusses the homeworld of the kid protagonists. He says, "It's the story of kids who happen to live on what they think of as a boring planet-- it seems like the suburbs, and nothing ever happens. And one day they find an old spaceship and it blasts them off, out into the galaxy. They realize that no one's ever heard of their home planet."

Since Star Wars: Skeleton Crew is just around the corner, it comes as no surprise that merchandise based around the show is now hitting stores. Fans will be particularly thrilled by the new Skeleton Crew Funko Pop Vinyl figurines, so you wallet will soon be feeling much lighter.

The human characters Fern, Kb, Wim, Neel, and Jod Na Nawood were all given the Funkp Pop treatment, as will the alien character known as Neel, who belongs to a separate species from the similar-looking Ortolan race. There will also be a figurine of the mysterious character Kh’ymm, and fans are undoubtedly desperate to learn more about this elusive individual. And there will probably be many more Skeleton Crew-related Funko Pop figures released as the show progresses, which means that you should start counting your pennies if you plan to purchase them all.

Exclusive: Focus Features has snapped up U.S. rights to Working Title and Studiocanal’s WWII drama-thriller Pressure, about the build-up to the historic Normandy Landings.

The multi-million dollar deal includes a strong theatrical commitment, we understand, with Studiocanal continuing sales this week at the AFM. The European studio will handle the movie’s release in its territories.
