Biography

Daughter of Benigno Quiambao Aquino, Sr. and Aurora Aquino.

Father Benigno was a Filipino politician who served as congressman (1919 to 1925), a senator in 1928, Secretary of Agriculture of Commonwealth Pres. Manuel Quezon (1937), and Speaker of the Second Philippine Republic National Assembly (1943 to 1945). He was part of the Philippine Independence Mission in 1931, which negotiated the terms of obtaining Philippine independence from the United States.

Sister of Maria Aurora, Benigno Simeon Jr. (Benigno Aquino), Teresa, Agapito (Butz Aquino), Ditas and Paul. Half-brother: Antonio, his father eldest son with first wife, Maria Urquico.

Sister-in-law of Philippine president Corazon Aquino, wife of brother Ninoy.

Three of her siblings became senators of the Philippines (like their father) -- Benigno, Teresa and Agapito.
