Disney's acquisition of Marvel led to the cancellation of Spectacular Spider-Man after only two seasons, disappointing fans. Spectacular Spider-Man almost shared a universe with Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes, promising exciting crossover potential. Despite demand from viewers, there are currently no plans to revive Spectacular Spider-Man for another season.
The Spectacular Spider-Man is considered by many to be one of the best Spider-Man animated TV shows, but the series was, unfortunately, canceled after only two seasons. More frustratingly, Spectacular Spider-Man was nearly revived in the best possible way only three years later, only for these plans to fall through, avoiding a return that would have connected it to two other animated Marvel shows that are similarly beloved by viewers and critics.
Greg Weisman and Victor Cook’s Spectacular Spider-Man debuted in 2008. Starring Josh Keaton as Peter Parker, the series took inspiration from the Stan Lee and Gerry Conway runs of The Amazing Spider-Man comics,...

“Goosebumps” has been renewed for a second season at Disney+.
The announcement was made during the Disney Branded Television presentation at the Television Critics Association winter press tour. As part of the announcement, it was also revealed that the second season would be eight episodes compared to the 10-episode first season, and that the show is going the anthology route. Thus, Season 2 will feature an entirely new cast and setting based on R.L. Stine’s iconic Scholastic book series.
“Audiences everywhere fell in love with the series’ chills, thrills, heart and humor, making it one of Disney Branded Television’s most-watched shows of last year,” said Ayo Davis, president of Disney Branded Television. “We can’t wait to dive deeper into the brilliant mind of R.L. Stine, and to collaborate once again with Sony Pictures Television, Scholastic Entertainment, and our fantastic creative team to bring an entirely new mystery to Disney+ for season two.

Hellboy is one of the most successful superhero comic characters outside of the Marvel/DC duopoly; his adventures bridge the gaps between fantasy, horror, and good old-fashioned pulp.
In 1944, Nazis led by Grigori Rasputin opened a portal to Hell to summon the harbinger of the apocalypse. They succeeded — the being in question was a demon child named Anung Un Rama ( "And upon his brow is set a crown of flame"). The Nazis were defeated by Allied soldiers and the child was adopted by Professor Trevor Bruttenholm and named Hellboy. Professor "Broom" raised his son into the top agent for the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense (The Bprd); Hellboy approaches his job with the attitude of a working stiff and is really unenthusiastic about his destiny to destroy the world.
Unlike his contemporaries superheroes, Hellboy hasn't had the most successful time on film. "Hellboy" has been adapted as an unfinished...

One of the most memorable faces in horror history, Robert Englund remains a rare example of a genre actor that no director would dare to hide under a mask. Sure, his signature role as the clawed dream demon had Englund performing under several layers of intricate makeup, but it was still his iconic expressions and mannerisms that turned Freddy Krueger into a household name.
However, one of the actor’s many talents is rarely acknowledged when looking back on his decades of contributions to genre media, and that would be his penchant for villainous voice-acting. For decades now, the sultry sounds of Robert Englund have been bringing all manners of animated characters to life in cartoons and videogames. Two more clips from Starz Media's animated companion piece to the upcoming EA video game adaptation of the classic tale Dante's Inferno came up from the depths today, and we have them for you all hellish and filled with torture.
Film Roman's Joe Goyette (Dead Space: Downfall) is the producer on the project, which Victor Cook (Hellboy Animated: Blood & Iron) is directing and Brandon Auman (Iron Man: Armored Adventures) is writing.
"The animated feature will be a great companion piece to the game," said Jonathan Knight, executive producer and creative director for Dante's Inferno. "The feature will explore aspects of the poem that the game does not and will provide more insight into the characters and the unique story adaptation that the game has established."
Dig them below, and look for the feature on DVD and Blu-ray February 9th, 2010.

You might remember that earlier in the year two projects were announced, both of which would bring Dante Alighieri’s epic poem – The Divine Comedy – to the big screen. Yes not one, but two projects bringing Dante’s Inferno and the nine circles of hell to life, the difference? One is live action, to be penned by “X2: X-Men United” writer Dan Harris and the other, an animated feature.
While we’re quite a way off from seeing any progress at all on the live action movie, a trailer has been released for the animated film, which is based on the Electronic Arts game.
Produced by Joe Goyette and directed by Victor Cook, Dante’s Inferno: The Animated Epic will feature nine vignettes, created by six leading animation studios, including the talents behind “Blood the Last Vampire” (animated) and “Ghost in the Shell.” Check out the fantastic results below:

So, now that Mickey's jaws have closed back into place like a reticulating python that's done — for the moment, at least — gobbling up other media entities (we're, of course, speaking of the recent acquisition of Marvel Entertainment), speculation is raging across the media as to what it all means.
Here's what it most certainly doesn't mean: Lassie in spandex tights or Iron Mouse. And you probably could have surmised that. On the other hand, people have been a bit more concerned about the opposite circumstance: what will Disney's acquisition mean for established Marvel heroes like Spider-Man, for example.
It seems smart people may be at the helm, after all. Today, we've learned that Sony has relinquished all television rights for Spidey in exchange for more favorable movie options for the web slinger. The upshot of this news is that not only is the door opened to future animated Spider-Man projects,...

Just a few weeks after reporting that Universal will be giving Dante Alighieri's epic poem the live action treatment, news has now reached the trades that Dante's Inferno will also be getting the anime treatment!
Electronic Arts and Starz Media have teamed to produce their second animated feature, which will be based on the EA Game "Dante's Inferno." Film Roman, a subsidiary of Starz will produce the film, as it did with "Dead Space: Downfall," which was distribbed by Starz in the fall and was tied to the release of EA's high-profile sci-fi horror vidgame "Dead Space."
And to give each of the nine circles of hell (limbo, lust, gluttony, greed, anger, heresy, violence, fraud and treachery) their full charm, separate anime studios are being commissioned to create each one.
The game and the anime are both based on part one of Dante's classic poem "The Divine Comedy," better known as "Dante's Inferno.

Ani 'Spider-Man' crawls onto CW
The CW's Kids' WB! has picked up a new Spider-Man animated series to launch in early 2008.
Tentatively titled "The Amazing Spider-Man", the series hails from Culver Entertainment, Sony Pictures Television's recently launched division focused on developing and producing drama, comedy and animated series exclusively for DVD and international distribution.
Unlike most series developed by Culver, "Spider-Man" will air on television before being released on DVD and other digital platforms.
The new animated series picks up the original Spider-Man mythology at the beginning, when the web slinger is a not-so-typical 16-year-old entering his junior year of high school.
"The addition of 'Spider-Man' bolsters a lineup that has proved to be the Saturday morning destination for kids seeking action and adventure in the most amped-up ways," said Betsy McGowen, Kids' WB! senior vp and GM.
Greg Weisman is the series' supervising producer. Victor Cook is producer/supervising director.
"Spider-Man is such an important brand for Sony Pictures, and we're thrilled to keep the momentum going by taking it back to television with an animated series on Kids' WB!" SPT co-president Zack Van Amburg said.
