Dubbed the singing voice of Ursula Andress in Dr. No (1962).

Best known for her role as Sidney James's wife in the hugely popular 1970's sitcom Bless This House (1971). Nearly 25 years later she appeared with another of Sid's famous leading ladies, Barbara Windsor from the Carry On film series, when they worked together in the soap opera EastEnders (1985).

Her initial ambition was to be a ballet dancer, but a horseback-riding accident prevented her from pursuing that career.

She was a patron for National Lupus UK, a charity for people with systemic and discoid lupus.

Spent her early career as a big band singer, performing in hotels and night clubs at the London West End. Still in her late teens, she was signed as a BBC contract singer, first appearing in the "Hit Parade" in 1952.
