Who Is Martin Scorsese in ‘In the Hand of Dante’? Everything We Know So Far
Image
In the Hand of Dante is an upcoming drama movie featuring veteran director Martin Scorsese in a major supporting role. As the movie is set to premiere at the upcoming Venice Film Festival, a first look at Scorsese’s character was leaked online (via @SolaceCinema) with the filmmaker playing Dante Alighieri’s mentor.

According to a previous report from Variety, Scorsese won’t be playing himself in the movie like he did in the comedy-drama The Studio. Instead, he will play an old sage who influences Dante Alighieri while he is writing The Divine Comedy, which plays a key role in the movie. As a result, fans must be curious to learn about its release date, cast, and plot, and here is everything you need to know about In the Hand of Dante.

When Does In the Hand of Dante Release? Martin Scorsese in The Studio (Credits: AppleTV+).

Will Mr. Scorsese Address the Marvel Controversy? Exploring the Possibilities of Martin Scorsese’s 5-Part Documentary
Image
Back in 2019, Martin Scorsese set the internet on fire when he told Empire (via IndieWire) that Marvel movies are “not cinema,” comparing them to theme parks rather than films that dive into human emotions. His comments sparked major debate online but later subsided. However, years later, now that Apple TV is producing a documentary about Scorsese, there seems to be a chance for him to unpack those thoughts in detail.

Mr. Scorsese, a five-part documentary series on the legendary filmmaker’s life and career, is currently developing under Apple TV+, which promises an inside look at the acclaimed director’s creative journey. Meanwhile, we believe there’s a massive opportunity for the streamer to revisit Scorsese’s most headline-making moments, which undoubtedly include the Marvel controversy.

Overall, the chances are pretty high of getting to know the full story about what he meant, how he feels now, and whether the backlash changed his perspective,...

Your Official Rainmaker Prep Kit: 13 Legal Thrillers and Blue Sky Favorites to Get You Courtroom-Ready
Image
You know that little jolt of satisfaction you get when an underdog wipes the smug smile off a corporate villain’s face? That’s The Rainmaker‘s heartbeat.

It’s not just a courtroom drama — it’s scrappy lawyers, big gambles, and emotional haymakers, all wrapped in “how the hell did they pull that off?” energy.

And because it’s coming to USA Network, it’s worth remembering… this network used to own high-stakes, high-entertainment TV. Think Suits, White Collar, Psych — shows that made you care just as much about the characters as the cases.

(Courtesy of USA Network)

So if you’re looking for a warm-up before Rudy Baylor and Deck Shifflet hit your screen, here’s your 13-title prep course.

This isn’t homework. This is fun!

How Alan Ritchson Feels About Potentially Directing An Episode Of Reacher
Image
Alan Ritchson is the star of the Prime Video TV series "Reacher," but he's also thought about taking on another role behind the camera. In a 2021 interview with Collider, he spoke about the possibility of directing an episode of the series himself. It's something that's more realistic than it sounds: not only does Ritchson already have some directing credits behind his name — "Dark Web: 3301" in 2021 and the short "Tree House Time Machine" in 2017 — but it's not uncommon for actors to direct an occasional episode of their own show. Ayo Edebiri, for instance, made her directorial debut in season 3 of "The Bear," while Bryan Cranston directed three episodes of "Breaking Bad."

"I would direct anything," Ritchson told Collider. "I feel very, very comfortable behind the lens."

Despite this, Ritchson hasn't directed any "Reacher" episode even three years later. He may get to direct one with the upcoming season 4, but nothing's been announced yet.

20 years after ‘Malcolm in the Middle,’ Bryan Cranston could finally win his first Emmy for a comedy series
Image
Bryan Cranston won four Emmys for playing a power-hungry drug kingpin on AMC's landmark drama series Breaking Bad. But when he's not masquerading as the ruthless "one who knocks," the actor also enjoys showing off his comedic side.

Two decades ago, he received a trio of Emmy nominations for his role as Hal, the carefree husband and father on Malcolm in the Middle. He also earned laughs playing dentist Tim Whatley on Seinfeld, therapist Dr. Templeton on Curb Your Enthusiasm, and a heightened version of himself on It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

Now, he's yucking it up as The Studio's Griffin Mill, the outlandish CEO of Continental Studios, who's never met a psychedelic mushroom he didn't like. Cranston is nominated in Best Comedy Guest Actor alongside last year's winner, Jon Bernthal as Michael Berzatto for The Bear, plus four people from The Studio who are playing comedic versions of themselves: Dave Franco,...

Seth Rogen Admits He Was Tripping on Mushrooms During His Marc Maron Podcast Interview
Image
There were few funnier things this year than watching the trio of Bryan Cranston, Zoë Kravitz and Dave Franco realize they mistakenly ingested too many mushrooms on The Studio.

That season one finale of the Apple TV+ Hollywood satire series saw Seth Rogen’s Hollywood studio head, Matt Remick, screw up the dosage of mushrooms that he offered both his coworkers and talent ahead of a mega presentation at San Diego Comic Con.

Turns out, something similar to Rogen and his co-creator Evan Goldberg in real life.

“[In The Studio], we’re supposed to give a big presentation for the studio and we accidentally… we think we’re all microdosing shrooms, but we all macrodose shrooms. Which is 100 percent a thing that happened to me and Evan [Goldberg] in real life,” Rogen told Jimmy Fallon when visiting The Tonight Show to promote the Emmy-nominated comedy.

Rogen admitted that “not surprisingly, I’ve mistimed the...

‘Awards Magnet’: Why ‘The Studio’ has the edge over ‘Hacks’ for Best Comedy Series at the 2025 Emmys
Image
The Awards Magnet team has reconvened to analyze all of the comedy categories at the 2025 Emmys.

Senior editors Marcus James Dixon, Denton Davidson, and Mia McNiece agree that The Studio is the frontrunner in the Best Comedy Series race. After all, the Apple TV+ program is about Hollywood, and it set a new record for a first-year comedy with 23 total nominations, including four alone for Seth Rogen — series, lead actor, director, and writer — and he could potentially sweep all four.

Performers from The Studio over-performed in the nominations phase, with a whopping 10 of them receiving mentions. That number includes five guest stars who all portray themselves, plus Bryan Cranston, whose fictional performance steals the show. All of that bodes well for The Studio's chances up in the Best Comedy Series contest, considering that the Acting Branch is the largest within the Television Academy.

Comparatively, Hacks, the reigning Best Comedy Series champion,...

10 Best The Sopranos Episodes That Makes It Better Than Breaking Bad
Image
There’s no denying that Breaking Bad dominates the television scene. Vince Gilligan’s story about a chemistry teacher becoming a meth kingpin is the stuff of TV legend. But let’s pump the brakes for a second.

Before Breaking Bad even existed, The Sopranos had already redefined what television could be. David Chase’s mob saga wasn’t just ahead of its time; it helped create the golden age of TV as we know it. And in more than a few ways, it edges past the Bryan Cranston-led show.

Yes, both shows explore crime, power, and moral collapse, but The Sopranos brings a level of psychological depth and dark humor that hits differently. Even celebrities like Ben Affleck and Jon Bernthal prefer The Sopranos over Breaking Bad because of this. It’s not just about plot twists or intense standoffs. It’s about character studies, haunting silences, and...

Sharon Stone on Her Nobody 2 Villain After Basic Instinct: ‘There is no cruelty like that kind’
Image
Sharon Stone has joined the cast of Nobody 2 as the main antagonist, but her character is nothing like the Machiavellian seductress of Basic Instinct. Instead, the actress takes a hard look at her own life to draw some inspiration for a new kind of evil, and she succeeds in finding it at home with her three sons.

Speaking to Business Insider, the iconic actress revealed how her first-hand experience of her children’s gaming habits during the pandemic helped her shape her arc in Nobody 2:

It was like living in a frat house, they were all screaming out of their rooms while they were playing. There is no cruelty like the kind that came out of those computers. So this character I made up came through that. I said, ‘I want to play a character that essentially comes right out of social media.’

While her villainous arc does sound inspired,...

Image
The tech-noir space has seen its fair share of big names over the years, like Westworld, Mr. Robot, and Black Mirror. Unfortunately, there was one that showed promise before its run was cut short, and that’s – Altered Carbon. Erick Avari’s Best Sci-Fi Performances Didn’t Happen in Star Trek — These 5 Roles Prove It
Image
Actor Erick Avari had three roles across the Star Trek franchise, but he was a much better performer in other sci-fi shows like The X-Files and Heroes. Avari is best known for his mysterious roles and for his deep and drony voice in movies like Independence Day and The Mummy, before he had his breakthrough with Stargate.

Avari, who admitted that he was a Star Trek fan from his childhood days, had three roles across different shows in the franchise. He played the Klingon B’iJik in The Next Generation, the Bajoran monk Vedek Yarka in Deep Space Nine, and the Novan leader Jamin in Enterprise. However, none of them were as great as his roles in other sci-fi TV shows.

The Surprising ‘X-Files’ Episode by Vince Gilligan That Planted the Seed for Walter White
Image
Vince Gilligan may be most famous for his iconic creation, Breaking Bad, but the idea for Walter White was planted years ago in an episode of The X-Files. “Drive” in season 6, which aired on November 15, 1998, introduced us to a character named Patrick Trump, portrayed by Bryan Cranston. This was a character, so sympathetic, intense, and morally ambiguous that he saw the perfect antihero potential in him.

In the hour-long episode, Gilligan realised Cranston’s prowess to make even a villain seem human, an essential trait for Walter White. Gilligan’s writing experience from the X-Files gave him the craft of building monstrous figures with empathy. That tension between the man and the villain is what came through perfectly in Walter White’s story.

Vince Gilligan Reveals the John Wayne Western That Inspired Breaking Bad’s Finale ‘Felina’
Image
Vince Gilligan‘s Breaking Bad has become a staple for modern television drama, earning itself a household name after 10 million people tuned in (via NY Times) for its finale released in 2013. Titled ‘Felina’, Gilligan fesses up to borrowing the ending from John Wayne’s epic Western film The Searchers (1956).

Throughout The Searchers, we follow the character Ethan chasing after Debbie for revenge. In Breaking Bad, Walter White is out for Jesse Pinkman, but instead saves him from being a slave. Gilligan draws from John Wayne’s story and reworks it into the tale of Pinkman and the great Heisenberg. Gilligan states:

“It’s this tear-jerking wonderful ending. We stole from the best.“

The Forgotten Sci-Fi Series Vince Gilligan Made Before Pluribus

Vince Gilligan‘s work is known to each sci-fi fanatic out there. But, do you know about The X Files? It is a sci-fi that questions the difference between paranormal and science. Starring the enigmatic David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson, the series culminated in May 2002.

As for Gilligan, The X Files marked the start of his career in the sci-fi landscape. The esteemed visionary was considering and still is to revive the show even after a decade. In an interview with The Independent, Vince Gilligan quoted,

“The thought that there could be more episodes of The X Files is very exciting to me indeed.”

He further continued,

“If I knew I could do it, I would love to be a part of it, but even if I am not, you can know for a fact that I’ll be watching every episode and rooting them on, and being very much the fanboy that I started.

‘Your Friends & Neighbors’ Season 2 Must Resolve One Storyline the First Season Left Hanging
Image
When Your Friends & Neighbors concluded without giving us any resolution about Ali’s character, I was personally offended on her behalf. Lena Hall is such a brilliant actress, and the way she was underutilized in the show was infuriating.

Now that the show has been confirmed for a second season, they need to resolve Ali’s storyline, give her a better character arc, and help develop her relationships with others, especially her brother, or they risk leaving an inconsistency in the narrative. There were so many different aspects of how her character could have contributed to the development of the story, all of which need to be addressed in the new season as a priority.

Ali’s Character had the Most Untapped Potential in Your Friends & Neighbors

Wes Anderson’s A-List Black Comedy Is an Instant Streaming Hit in America
Image
With a new film featuring a star-studded ensemble led by an Oscar-winner, Wes Anderson did wonders with his most recent pic, which is now a streaming hit in the U.S. The Phoenician Scheme, starring Benicio del Toro, hit theaters nationwide on May 30, and less than two months later, on July 25, it landed on Peacock, where it has maintained a very well-deserved dominating spot.

Per FlixPatrol, The Phoenician Scheme is #1 on Peacock in the U.S., a spot it has held on to since arriving on the streamer, except on July 29, when it climbed down to second place. Meghann Fahy’s thriller Drop now takes up that position, with Robert De Niro’s 2023 comedy, About My Father, as #3. Rounding out the top five are the 2008 animation Horton Hears a Who! and Hotel Transylvania 2.

In The Phoenician Scheme, Del Toro portrays a wealthy businessman, Zsa-zsa Korda, who is on the run...

The 15 Best TV Shows On Showtime Right Now
Image
Paramount has been in the news a fair bit recently, for good reasons and, mostly, bad (for nerds who like boring stuff like free speech and political independence or whatever). But uh ... they did put a lot of Showtime content on Paramount+. That kinda makes up for it all, right?

The concerning and confounding decisions of the network's parent company aside, Showtime has long been the under-sung hero of prestige TV and the golden age of television at large. Would there be any shows with psychopathic, murderous protagonists without the success of "Dexter?" Would the political thriller subgenre be complete without "Homeland?" And is there a family drama so perfectly and relatably balanced between humor and heartbreak as "Shameless?" Unfortunately, you can't watch everything Showtime has produced on Paramount+ as of writing -- that said, of the shows available, these are the 15 most deserving of a rewatch.

What A 'Cold Open' Means In Television
Image
Who could forget the opening scene of "Lost" — in J.J. Abrams and Damon Lindelof's masterpiece of a pilot episode — where our hero, Jack (Matthew Fox), awakens in a jungle on a seemingly uninhabited island to find the wreckage of his Oceanic flight and its survivors screaming and wandering about in shock? It's one of the most effective, mysterious, and captivating cold opens ever made. But what's a "cold open" exactly?

In television, a cold open is the very first scene of an episode that always appears before the title card (or opening credits) of any given series. It's one of the greatest storytelling tools TV writers have. It can come in many different forms and shapes, taking up usually five to ten minutes to immediately capture the viewer's attention as potently as possible.

Essentially, they serve as teasers, attempting to establish the show's tone, atmosphere, and vibe before we...

Breaking Bad Paid Bryan Cranston $3.6 Million In Season 5(Photo Credit –Instagram)

Over the years, the fandom of Breaking Bad has only grown. Starring Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul in the leads, the storyline of the series revolves around Walter White, a genius chemistry teacher who finds out he’s terminally ill and starts making meth to secure a better financial future for his family with Jesse Pinkman. Their onscreen camaraderie still gets appreciated by the fans. This show kind of changed both of their careers in a bigger perspective. Emmys 2025 Voters’ Guide: Breaking Down the Early Frontrunners
Image
With a big variety of series, dozens of first-time nominees and a few shows breaking back into the race, the 77th annual Emmy Awards are set to make history — possibly in more ways than one. Below, Variety breaks down the contenders in some of the main categories.

Drama series

Arguably, the most stacked race of all this year is the drama category. Although “Severance,” “The Last of Us,” “Slow Horses” and “Andor” have landed nominations in the category before, none of this year’s noms have taken home the trophy in the past. “Severance” is an early front-runner but it’s not without its huge competitors in the debuts this year. “Paradise” on Hulu racked up four nominations for its freshman year on Hulu, and “The Diplomat” caused quite a splash with its second season on Netflix, but HBO Max’s “The Pitt” (with 13 noms) remains the biggest competitor against the Apple TV+ leader.

How ‘The Studio’ Producer Frida Perez Went From Seth Rogen’s Assistant to Making Emmy History
Image
As final-round Emmy voting approaches, Apple TV+’s The Studio has emerged as a serious contender, after tying the all-time nomination record for a comedy series with 23 nominations and becoming the most-nominated freshman comedy in Emmy history.

The workplace satire’s success could mark several historic milestones, particularly for Dominican-American producer Frida Perez, who stands on the cusp of making Emmy history.

If “The Studio” wins outstanding comedy series, Perez would become the first Latina to take home a trophy in that category and only the second Latino ever to win as a producer in any top series race in Emmy history. Currently, only Cuban American Celia D. Costas holds that honor for HBO’s “Angels in America” in 2004.

Perez, 29, has already made history as the first Latina nominated for outstanding writing in a comedy series for the pilot episode “The Promotion,” which she shares with Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg,...

Seth Rogen on the verge of making Emmys history with 4 wins for ‘The Studio’

Seth Rogen is the odds-on favorite to win so many Emmys for The Studio, he'll need to bring a mantelpiece as his plus-one.

Plus, he's the runner-up in Best Comedy Writing (for "The Promotion"), behind only the Hacks showrunning trio of Lucia Aniello, Paul W. Downs, and Jen Statsky (for "A Slippery Slope").

Should Rogen win all four, he'd be the only person in Emmy history to win those specific trophies in the same year. In 2020, Daniel Levy won three of the four for Schitt's Creek, but his acting award was for supporting, not lead. Here's what Rogen tells Gold Derby about potentially making history:

Ben Affleck’s Best Picture-Winning Spy Thriller With ‘Breaking Bad’ and ‘Bosch’ Stars Has Found a New Streaming Home
Image
Ben Affleck jumped back into action earlier this year with his acclaimed, high-octane new sequel, The Accountant 2, pairing him up with Jon Bernthal for a bigger and badder adventure for Christian Wolff. Next month, though, Hulu subscribers will be able to look back on one of the actor's best films that earned Best Picture honors at the Academy Awards for its story of a CIA agent posing as a film producer in an attempt to rescue six Americans. Released in 2012, the smash hit also paired him up with an ensemble packed with massive stars, from Breaking Bad's Bryan Cranston to Bosch's Titus Welliver. The historical political spy thriller Argo is one of several new films coming to the Disney-owned streaming service starting on August 1.

Argo is an adaptation of The Master of Disguise, the 1999 memoir of CIA operative Tony Mendez, as well as the 2007 Wired article by...

The 14 Worst Supergroups, Cast Ensembles and Collaborations of All Time
Image
You may think it’s cute, but NFL players only shuffle like that when they’re distressed.

14 Damnocracy

A band based on TV ratings and wordplay is doomed to fail from the start. The short-lived VH1 show Supergroup stuffed Sebastian Bach, Jason Bonham, Scott Ian, Ted Nugent and Evan Seinfeld into a Las Vegas mansion. They produced seven episodes of television and exactly zero albums, despite staying together for four years.

13 Andrew W.K. x Glenn Beck

The rock-n-roller had a radio show on the perpetual fascist pedophile apologist’s radio network in 2015. Their little odd couple routine was intended partly to highlight conversations between folks with opposing viewpoints, and partly to launder TheBlaze’s dogshit reputation.

12 ‘The Counselor’

Written by Cormac McCarthy. Directed by Ridley Scott. Starring Michael Fassbender, Penélope Cruz, Cameron Diaz, Javier Bardem, Brad Pitt. This is 2013 pop culture in a bottle, but they made Diaz hump a...

“The Phoenician Scheme Will Make You Scream” – A Subhash K Jha Review
Image
The Phoenician Scheme

Director: Wes Anderson

Starring: Benicio del Toro, Mia Threapleton, Michael Cera, Riz Ahmed, Tom Hanks, Bryan Cranston, Mathieu Amalric, Richard Ayoade, Jeffrey Wright, Scarlett Johansson, Benedict Cumberbatch, Rupert Friend, Hope Davis, F. Murray Abraham, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Willem Dafoe, and Bill Murray

Rating: Can’t Be Rated

I don’t like the cinema of Wes Anderson. It reminds me of those disjointed incoherent self consciously capricious film-school projects where the student wants to let the world he doesn’t care a fig about the rules.

Continuing his flabbergasting quest for the crest of quirkiness, Wes Anderson has now come up with The Phoenician Scheme a film that rattles all rationale and stirs up a storm in a teacup. Like other Anderson oddities this one too is visualized in cartoonstrip colours, mostly pale green, and a mood of mythologized satire , which itself is problematic for any serious viewing.

Aaron Paul's Forgotten Hulu Drama Caused A Ton Of Controversy
Image
Do you remember Jessica Goldberg's TV drama, "The Path," with Aaron Paul, Michelle Monaghan, and Hugh Dancy? Yeah, me neither. That's kind of the problem since I actually watched half of the Hulu series' first season back in 2016, but the only thing I can recall is that it was underwhelming, dull, and way too slow to hold my interest. It was meant to be the show that gave new life to Aaron Paul's career after he couldn't quite utilize the fame and praise "Breaking Bad" brought him over five years. Once Vince Gilligan's revolutionary masterpiece ended in 2013, Paul was offered a bunch of roles in various movies, but somehow none of those propelled him into the A-star category of actors who usually headlined features.

Maybe he just wasn't ready for it as much as his co-star and pal Bryan Cranston, who cashed in on his role of Walter...

This 96% Rotten Tomatoes Series Made Bob Odenkirk Realize He's an Actor [Exclusive]
Image
When fans think of Bob Odenkirk nowadays, the first thing, or character, rather, that comes to mind is likely the shady lawyer Saul Goodman. The actor first stepped into the shoes and flashy suits of the defense lawyer and professional con artist in Season 2 of Breaking Bad and never looked back, evolving into something much more than just the comedic relief character and constant confidant of Walter White (Bryan Cranston) and Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul). The man whose real name is Jimmy McGill would eventually get his own television series in Better Call Saul, exploring the many layers of the character and his eventual downfall in a show that arguably rivaled its already legendary predecessor. Despite his powerhouse performance, however, Odenkirk never saw himself as an actor.

At this year's San Diego Comic-Con, Odenkirk sat down with Steve Weintraub for Collider's Inside Hollywood panel, where he reflected on his career...

Jamie Lee Curtis’ ‘Murder, She Wrote’ Reboot Is Happening, and 2025 Is the Perfect Time for Jessica Fletcher
Image
Last year, Deadline reported that Oscar-winner Jamie Lee Curtis was prepping to fill the late legend Angela Lansbury’s shoes in a new version of “Murder, She Wrote,” the beloved ’80s and ’90s series that saw mystery novelist Jessica Fletcher (Lansbury) tracking down murderers in the sleepy Maine hamlet of Cabot Cove, as well as in her globe-trotting travels (courtesy of the Universal Studios backlot).

At the “Freakier Friday” premiere, Curtis confirmed to Entertainment Weekly that the project is still on the way, in a dramatic fashion: “Oh, it’s…,” employs pregnant pause and dramatic facial expressions, “happening.”

“We’re a minute away. But, yeah, very excited, very excited. But I’m, you know, tamping down my enthusiasm until we start shooting,” she added. “I have a couple other things to hustle and then, then I’ll get to enjoy that work.”

This isn’t the first attempt at remaking the long-running series.

'Breaking Bad's Vince Gilligan and a 'Better Call Saul' Star Return to Television in First Teaser for New Sci-Fi Series
Image
Vince Gilligan, the mastermind behind Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, is back on TV after a three-year absence. His new Apple TV+ series was announced back in 2022, and now we have a title, a release date, and a mysterious teaser. Pluribus will premiere on Apple TV+ on November 7, 2025, and will center around "the most miserable person on Earth" who "must save the world from happiness." Pluribus (which means "many" or "several" in Latin) is a science fiction series set, much like Gilligan's previous two series, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. It will star Rhea Seehorn, who earned rave reviews in Better Call Saul as lawyer Kim Wexler.

However, Seehorn is not in evidence in the teaser, which is titled "Happiness Is Contagious" and opens in a commercial building at night. As crickets chirp outside, a woman carefully removes donuts from a box, one by one, and gives them a big lick,...

‘The Pitt’ star Noah Wyle would be the latest to win Drama Actor Emmy for a first-year show
Image
At this year's Emmys, The Pitt did quite well by scoring 13 nominations overall. Its star, Noah Wyle, is currently the frontrunner to win Best Drama Actor, according to the Gold Derby predictions. He previously earned five bids in supporting for his role as John Carter on ER, but never won. If he prevails this time, this would not only mark his very first Emmy, but he'd also be the 11th performer since 2000 to have triumphed in this particular category for a first-year show.

In The Pitt, Wyle plays Dr. Michael "Robby" Robinavitch, a senior attending physician who starts a grueling 15-hour shift at the Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Hospital's emergency room by welcoming four newcomers. Yet he struggles as he is still reeling from his traumatic experiences during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The following 10 Best Drama Actor champs since 2000 have been for first-year shows:

Michael Chiklis, The Shield (2002) James Spader, Boston Legal (2005) Bryan Cranston,...

Image
Anthony Mackie's Hollywood satire The Studio has poked fun at the realities of being a working artist, and the challenges that come with being in the entertainment industry. Now, Mackie is joking about being a lucky charm for his white co-stars.

Mackie made the jokes while appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, via Deadline. He's a first-time Emmy nominee this year and achieved a second nomination for presenting, as well, with the show Shark Beach with Anthony Mackie: Gulf Coast.

Mackie told Fallon that he was "at work" when he heard people talking about the Emmy nominations. “And I look over and everybody’s like, ‘Congratulations!’ And I was like, ‘Oh, what white dude got nominated?’ Because I’m the white dude legend when it comes to nomination and winning. “I didn’t know. I was at work,” he noted on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. “And when I’m at work, I work. You gonna cut the check when I bring the business, you know?”

Anthony Mackie Jokes He’s a ‘White Dude Legend’ Since His Co-Stars Often Get Award Nominations Over Him: ‘I Made Ryan Gosling Famous. Jeremy Renner…’
Image
Anthony Mackie appeared on “The Tonight Show” to promote “Twisted Metal” Season 2, but the interview started with host Jimmy Fallon congratulating Mackie on his recent Emmy nomination for guest actor in a comedy series thanks to his performance in Seth Rogen’s Apple TV+ series “The Studio.” Mackie was on a set the morning of the Emmys announcement and automatically assumed his white co-stars landed noms over him, per usual.

“I’m on set… and I look over and everybody’s like ‘Congratulations!’ And I was like, ‘Oh, what white dude got nominated?’” Mackie said. “Because I’m the white dude legend when it comes to nominations and wins. I made Ryan Gosling famous. I made Jeremy Renner famous. I made Bryan Cranston famous. I now made Ron Howard famous! I’m like, if you want to get nominated, I’m the dude. You know what I mean?”

Every True Detective Season, Ranked From Worst to Best
Image
Ever since its premiere in 2018, True Detective has become one of the best anthology series on TV. With new suspense, themes, and atmosphere in each season, the show has unraveled four different mysteries, some of which are known for their noir style and great performances, while some miss the mark.

However, despite that, each season delivered its best with its stellar cast, story, acting, and great execution. Still, there has been a progression with every season that affects the audience’s reception and their status as the best, making some emerge as the best, while others remain disappointing.

4. True Detective: Night Country (Season 4)

Created by Nic Pizzolatto and starring Jodie Foster, Season 4, titled Night Country, takes the audience to the eternal night of rural Alaska. And with a stellar cast including Foster alongside Kali Reis, this season had all the makings of a standout addition to the anthology series. However,...

The Breaking Bad Connection in Malcolm in the Middle That No One Remembers
Image
Breaking Bad’s dark and gripping storyline left us all in a daze, but it’s a good thing they added a hilarious alternate ending in the show’s DVD extras because it absolutely balanced out everything.

In the clip attached below, we see Bryan Cranston as Hal from Malcolm in the Middle waking up from a nightmare where he saw himself as Walter White from Breaking Bad. He funnily recalled how he saw a man who looked “like the guy from ‘The Shield’” referring to Dean Norris’ Hank Schrader and “a man child” referring to Aaron Paul’s Jesse Pinkman.

This epic clip ended as the camera panned to the side and showed Heisenberg’s black pork pie hat. The question of ‘what if everything that happened in Breaking Bad was all just Hal’s dream’ has been a longstanding joke among the community, and it was great to see this come true.
