Leviathans, Vampires, Archangels, and Lucifer, oh my! The hit horror series Supernatural ran for 15 seasons, first on the WB and then on the CW. One of the show’s leads had soap opera roots. Jensen Ackles was the Og Eric Brady on Days of Our Lives. One of Supernatural’s most valuable assets was its guest stars. It turns out that the show often relied on current and former General Hospital actors to help support the scary drama. We break it down for you.

A Spooky Phenomenon

Supernatural premiered in 2005 and starred Ackles and Jared Padalecki as monster-hunting brothers Dean and Sam Winchester. Over the years, the show had great guest stars, including Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Sterling K. Brown, Aldis Hodge, Gary Cole, Sarah Shahi, Lauren Cohan, and Linda Blair.

‘Days of Our Lives’ (Dool) spoilers reveal that Patrika Darbo, who plays Nancy Wesley, and soap newcomer AlexAnn Hopkins, who will play Joy Wesley, will return to Salem.

‘Days Of Our Lives’ Spoilers: Joy Was Her Sister, Chloe’s Bone Marrow Donor

Nancy is Chloe Lane’s (Nadia Bjorlin) mother, and Joy is Chloe’s little sister. Nancy and Craig Wesley (Kevin Spirtas) conceived her to be a bone marrow donor to Chloe when she had leukemia.

Thankfully, Joy saved her sister’s life. Hopkins will play Joy as an adult. Joy was born to Craig and Nancy in 2003. The last time we saw Joy was in 2005, when she was just two years old. Aisling Acuna previously played the little girl.

Joy was a beloved member of the Wesley clan. Nancy had given her big sister, Chloe, up for adoption; in 1999, Chloe was a teenager, and Nancy brought her home...

There’s big casting news for Days of Our Lives. Chloe Lane, portrayed by Nadia Bjorlin, isn’t headed back to Salem. However, her sister Joy and her mom Nancy will be on canvas soon.

Joy Returns To Salem

Soap Opera Digest reported that Patrika Darbo will reprise her role as Nancy, which she originated. Soap newbie AlexAnn Hopkins will portray the grownup Joy. Nancy and Craig (Kevin Spirtas) conceived Joy when Chloe suffered from leukemia. A bone marrow match, Joy saved Chloe’s life.

The last time Joy was on screen was in 2005. The last time Nancy was in Salem was in 2022. During that return, Nancy and Craig divorced after he came out as gay. Before she left Salem, Nancy and Dr. Mike Horton (Roark Critchlow) began a romantic relationship.

You might recognize Hopkins from her appearances on Chicago P.D. or Criminal Minds. She also portrayed Trixie Dean on Sun Records.

Once again, it was a Body & Soul kind of day on the Tuesday, October 8 episode of Days of Our Lives. Kate, Abe, and Leo prepared to send Hattie’s character, Charlemagne Delacroix, down the elevator shaft while Alex and Stephanie got hot and heavy in a hospital room. These scenes channeled classic and current TV juggernauts to help further the Bs drama.

Hattie (Deidre Hall) diva’d herself into a corner. All of her maneuverings to get Bonnie (Judi Evans) kicked to the curb backfired against her. Ultimately, she ended up being the one to diva herself out of a job.

And so there they were at the hospital, ready to film Hattie’s death scene, which involved a blatant nod to classic TV history. Leo (Greg Rikaart) even said as much. Apparently, the show had to explain itself right before Hattie was supposed to...

Tate Black (Leo Howard) is now in a complex situation, caught between the affections of Sofia Choi (Madelyn Kientz) and Holly Jonas (Ashley Puzemis). This twist is particularly compelling because, until recently, Tate and Holly were utterly devoted to each other.

On the other hand, Sofia, initially perceived as a hurt friend, has transformed into a persistent obstacle, intent on keeping Tate and Holly apart throughout the summer.

Tate finds himself caught between Sofia and Holly. This is interesting, considering up until now, Tate (Leo Howard) and Holly (Ashely Puzemis) hardcore only had eyes for each other. Meanwhile, Sofia (Madelyn Kientz) was simply a hurt and betrayed friend who transitioned into a general nuisance designed to keep Tate and Holly apart all summer long.

Hell hath no fury like an overprotective mom in Lifetime Movie Network’s latest thriller, When Mom Becomes a Murderer.

It’s obviously a ridiculous title that initially seems to reveal all of the movie’s cards, which is frustrating considering that the first two acts treats everything as a mystery. Thankfully writers Declan Dineen, Lucy Foster and Victoria Saxton have a few additional surprises up their sleeves.

Unlike many other recent Lifetime films, there’s an earnest straightforwardness to When Mom Becomes A Murderer. The film opens with recent high school graduate Ellie (Matreya Scarrwener) securing the win for her debate team, much to the delight of her principal father Nathan (Roark Critchlow) and high school counsellor mother Marion (Lauren K. Robek).

Almost immediately, however, Ellie’s good girl status is put in question when she locks eyes with a cute boy post-debate and secretly plans to go clubbing...

Days of our Lives spoilers for next week’s episodes of the hit soap opera tease the show’s filled with shocking moments fans won’t see coming.

It was a big week for Days with the revelation that Clyde (James Read) killed Abigail (Marci Miller) and stabbed Sonny (Zach Tinker).

The impact of Abigail’s death and Clyde as her killer will be felt in Salem for a long time, though.

Now that the who stabbed Sonny and killed Abigail story has wrapped up, it will allow for new storylines to emerge.

Love drama will be the name of the game in Salem as the show gears up for November sweeps.

There’s also a big return and a new scandal hitting Salem.

Exclusive: Noble Story Co. has secured the rights to New York Times bestselling author Andy Andrews’ The Heart Mender, with plans to develop it for film.

The historical fiction novel tells the story of Helen Mason, a young woman who is unable to abandon her resentment toward the Nazi war machine that took her husband’s life. In the summer of 1942, she comes upon German U-boat officer Lt. Josef Landermann, who has washed ashore after being abandoned and left for dead by the Kriegsmarine, and this moment ends up changing her life forever.

The project was brought to Andrew Teravskis and Adam Gregory’s Noble Story Co. by Edgar Struble, and will produce it alongside the duo. Noble Story Co. is a fan-owned production company with five other features and two series in the works, which is represented by by Arine Harapeti. Andrews is repped by Neely & Callaghan.

If you've seen one SyFy Channel Original Movie, then you know what to expect from all of them. The simple formula consists of a couple of familiar television or genre actors, some type of otherworldly threat or attack, and some budget special effects that aren't quite as bad as what we get with The Asylum's movies. However, they still don't quite live up to the expectations set forth by years of watching films crafted with the help of Ilm.

Earth's Final Hours is no different except for a premise that isn't quite as hard to swallow as an alien attack or over-used as a giant asteroid on a collision course with Earth. Don't get me wrong; matter from an asteroid figures into the story. It's just not the size we're used to from years of movies like Meteor, Armageddon, and Deep Impact.

When the holiday is seasoned with tons of television holiday bliss, to have a disaster movie inject criticism towards how mankind can easily mis-interpret what the end times mean is welcomed. Even though that is at the core of the final action, to get there is worth the two hours in front of the tube than to sing along to yule-tide bliss. Joseph Mazzello came pretty close to being forever mired in that well-worn, curiosity-driven trap of “whatever happened to this child star?” But the Jurassic Park actor has made something of a comeback these past couple of years, thanks entirely to turns in HBO’s The Pacific and David Fincher‘s The Social Network; although this small role probably won’t get him into a spandex suit and in front of a green screen right away, it’s good to see more work come in.

Deadline reports that he, Josh Fadem (The Master), and Michelle Forbes (The Killing) are part of the cast for Dear Sidewalk, an independent comedy that has Davi Jay (Treme), Barry Tubb (Top Gun), and Roark Critchlow (Days of our Lives) signed to star. Jake Oelman is directing from a script by Jake Limbert, which follows “a young mail carrier who falls for a recently relocated divorcee on his route.

Joe Mazzello, Michelle Forbes, and Josh Fadem have joined the cast of Dear Sidewalk. Directed by Jake Oelman, written by Jake Limbert, and produced by Ford Oelman, the indie comedy tells the story of a young mail carrier who falls for a recently relocated divorcee on his route. They join Davi Jay, Barry Tubb and Roark Critchlow. The film is shooting in Austin and is produced by Nho Entertainment and Barcode Films.

It’s hard not to watch this trailer for Vampyre Nation and not get the sense that the makers of the movie watched Daybreakers and wished the film had more to do with characters hunting down those mutant vampire man-bats. And I would agree with them 100% on that point.

Vampyre Nation may not be an Asylum mockbuster of Daybreakers but it sure does sound like it could be.

Bucharest, Romania. The not-too-distant future, but an entirely different city. The human population is dwindling. The vampire population, meanwhile, is exploding. Having emerged from the shadows a decade earlier, vampires now walk openly amongst the human population, as a precarious peace exists between the two. A peace made possible by the introduction of a synthetic blood substitute, dispensed by the Romanian government, making traditional vampire feeding, and preying on humans, no longer necessary. But even so, it's not a peace that everyone is entirely comfortable with.

This is an early look at an upcoming post-apocalyptic vampire thriller titled Vampyre Nation. This film is from the man who made Weather Wars and Monster Wolf, Todor Chapkanov. Vampyre Nation stars Andrew Lee Potts ("Primeval"), Neil Jackson (Push) and Ben Lambert. In the future, vampires and humans live in a cold war atmosphere, where a synthetic blood substitute keeps the bloodsuckers at bay, temporarily. This truce will last for only so long.

Chapkanov's previous films Weather Wars and Monster Wolf were both shown on the SyFy Network and this title will also likely show on this channel, in 2012. Sean Patrick Flanery (The Boondock Saints) will be saving the universe in the upcoming sci-fi thriller Scavengers. This title has recently moved into production and Scavengers will release to sci-fi fans in November of 2011. The film itself follows a team of mercenaries, who uncover alien technology. They must then fight for this artifact's ownership. Jeremy London ("Party of Five"), Roark Critchlow ("V") and Louise Linton (The Echo) will also star. Last night I was sitting on my heels in front of my giant flat-screen TV, gnawing my fingernails and giggling manically and I think at one point I legitimately reached up to pet Toby’s face and my roommate goes, “It’s no wonder you can’t keep a girlfriend; you use all your real feelings on Pretty Little Liars.”

Which: Valid, and probably something I should talk to Annabeth Gish about, but whatever.

This show is magical. It’s all I want to watch and it’s all I want to talk about. Last weekend my dad was mocking me about it and I was like, “Pardon me for not valuing the opinion of someone who thinks Two and a Half Men is high art. Asshole.” It was Father’s Day.

Previously on Pretty Little Liars, Ian made a bunch of Horcruxes out of snow globes and lunch boxes and dead girls’ bodies.

V (2009) has been canceled by ABC. The V remake TV series starring Morena Baccarin, Elizabeth Mitchell had been met with praise and dismay since its outset. I have to give V writers Gregg Hurwitz and Scott Rosenbaum credit for the last episode, as I did in its review. They threw everything they had into the last episode and it showed.

V (2009): Season 2, Ep. 10 – entitled Mother’s Day – had some of the best plot twists and action the science fiction TV show has seen to date. It was a great episode. I have to hand it to writers Gregg Hurwitz and Scott Rosenbaum, I have criticized them heavily in the past (written here: TV Review: V (2009): Season 1, Ep.12: Red Sky) but they certainly upped their plot twist game. The massive plot holes remain but now the show has something else sizable. Fallout. V will have massive fallout from the events in Mother’s Day. I even love the twisted title of the episode. The cliff hangers, some listed below, reminded me of the cliff hangers left unanswered in the Season Two finale of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles – entitled Born to Run.

The following are spoilers and what I found to be the most noteworthy portions of Mother’s Day.

ABC’s remake of V, the ’80s hit show about alien visitors who arrive on Earth with secretly malicious intentions, returns for a second season, in the face of dwindling ratings and a poor critical response. ABC clearly saw more potential for a turnaround than FlashForward, their other hyped sci-fi drama from 2009, which wasn’t fortunate enough to escape the axe. Unfortunately, although “Red Rain” was faster paced than usual, and managed to drop V’s annoying cloak of mystery a few times, it still exhibited many of the flaws that made it hard to enjoy season 1 in anything but a disposable way. I think this a show that has a strong foundation in its admittedly hoary premise, but too many mistakes were made in the remake’s blueprint…

"Pretty Little Liars" came back from its best episode thus far to offer more of a set-up episode, if you will. "Can You Hear Me Now?" really seemed to just be setting the table for what's coming in the next few weeks. There were still some good things happening, though.

First of all, how creepy was it that someone broke into Spencer's house and wrote "It won't be that easy, bitches - A" on her mirror in red lipstick? And the previews for next week implied that that person was still in the house! Yikes.

Secondly, we were quite excited to see the return of Wren -- even if he was drunk as a skunk. We are infinitely more interested in him and Spencer than we are in Hanna and her sisters or Emily's lesbianism.

Finally, we can't wait to see the consequences of A's letter to Ella. We've been...

Roark Critchlow is a familiar face to soap opera fans.

He played one half of the popular Days of Our Lives couple, Mike and Carrie, in the 90s. Now, the actor has resurfaced in primetime: he has a recurring role on ABC's V, portraying Paul Kendrick, Erica's boss at the FBI.

Following this week's episode of the show, viewers are asking: might Paul be a Visitor? He touched on this topic, and others, in an interview with TV Guide Magazine...

On his character: "He’s relatively tough and likes to play by the rules. After [Erica] discovers that her partner is a V, she wonders ‘who else’? And there’s reasons for me to be distrustful of her. I could definitely turn out to be a V, but that’s not resolved in the two episodes I’ve shot so far."

So what do you do after you’ve killed your partner of seven years and discovered that he was actually a space alien in disguise? For FBI agent Erica Evans (Elizabeth Mitchell), it means lying through her teeth when her boss and the FBI wonder what’s happened to agent Dale Maddox (Alan Tudyk, who gets two brief cameos in tonight’s episode). There’s good news and bad news for our FBI heroine: the bad news is that Erica, as a good liar as she is, has a very insightful boss (Roark Critchlow) who sees holes in her story, but the good news is that the Visitors know how to cover their tracks. By the time the FBI shows up at the warehouse where the fledging human resistance and Visitor commandos threw down at the end of the pilot, there are no traces of a fight or bodies. Erica is safe … for now.
