Principal photography has wrapped on “Think of England,” a satirical WWII drama from BAFTA-nominated writer/director Richard Hawkins.
The newly-announced film is set in the run up to the Allied invasion of France, when two British film projects are commission at the very highest level. For one, Winston Churchill himself insists that Laurence Olivier immediately embark upon a lavish production of Shakespeare’s “Henry V,” securing for him a state-of-the-art, 3-strip Technicolour camera and all of the available film stock.
As the description goes, “Think of England” is the story of the other, following a small and very disparate group of people sent to a remote Orkney island beach and tasked with a top secret mission — the making of pornographic films for the boys at the front. “For who knows how long this war still has to run, and fighting morale — as we learned only too well from the last one — is everything,...

The entertainment law firm of Gendler & Kelly has changed its name as of today to Gendler, Kelly & Cunningham, reflecting the elevation of partner Sarah Cunningham.
Cunningham joined the firm in 2018 and was promoted to partner in 2021. The etching of her name on the firm’s door comes as recognition of her contributions to the respected boutique outfit founded in 1996 by Michael Gendler and Kevin Kelly.
Cunningham “has represented the firm’s clients with an intelligence, diligence, creativity and insight rarely found in one lawyer,” Gendler said. “Her ability to navigate complex deals, coupled with her sensitivity to our clients’ diverse interests and career goals, are a tremendous asset to our firm. In 2021, we made the easy decision to ask Sarah to become the firm’s first new partner in our 26-year history. Today, we have the privilege to announce Gendler & Kelly is now Gendler, Kelly & Cunningham.”

I have been a longtime, active member in the Gold Derby Forums section, so many on this website will recognize my name from the thread dedicated to “American Horror Story: Double Feature.” While “Double Feature” may not have been everyone’s favorite installment, there were four particular aspects of the season that should make it noteworthy to both average viewers and Emmy voters alike. So let’s dive down the Ryan Murphy rabbit hole, shall we? Below are four reasons why “American Horror Story: Double Feature” could creep into the Emmy nominations.

1. The Power of the Pen/Keyboard: The first half of the season Should have been the storyline of the entire season, and it was brilliantly written. To single out two particular episodes, I loved “Cape Fear” and “Pale” the most. Both episodes established the foundation that made the...

Entertainment law firm Gendler & Kelly has named attorney Sarah Cunningham partner. This is the first promotion to partner at the Beverly Hills-based boutique firm since it was launched by founding partners Michael Gendler and Kevin Kelly 26 years ago.
At Gendler & Kelly, Cunningham has worked closely with some of the firm’s top clients, including showrunners Shonda Rhimes, David E. Kelley, Alex Kurtzman, and Courtney Kemp, and actors Steve Martin, Chris Pine, and John C. Reilly.
After earning her J.D. from Stanford Law School in 2013, Cunningham was a Federal District Court law clerk for the Honorable Fernando Olguin and a litigator at Gibson Dunn for four years before joining Gendler & Kelly in 2018.
“We knew prior to hiring Sarah that she was a highly skilled litigator. Her references were uniformly the best we had ever heard. (The phrase ‘walks on water’ came up multiple times.),” Gendler said. “Based on those...

Ryan Murphy kept us all up way past our bedtimes on Wednesday with the two-part premiere of American Horror Story: Double Feature. But was it worth the extra shot of espresso we’ll all need to function in the morning?
Hell yeah, it was! Chilling, compelling and wonderfully acted, Double Feature already feels like a return to form for the long-running franchise. It’s also the breath of fresh air we so desperately needed after enduring an entire season of American Horror Stories.

When it comes to haunted houses we’ve seen it all near enough. From the psychology of Robert Wise’s The Haunting, to the playful macabre of Tim Burton’s Beetlejuice, to the shuddering realism of Oren Peli’s Paranormal Activity, the jolts of James Wan’s The Conjuring, the fresh voice of Remi Weekes’ His House, and the ice cube down the spine chills and lingering emotions of J.A. Bayona’s The Orphanage. We have seen so many filmmakers craft so many different bumps in the night emanating from the home, and in Creep and Black Death director Christopher Smith’s The Banishing, we go back to the traditional British hauntings of old, which have recently been resurrected in films like The Woman in Black, When the Lights Went Out and An English Haunting.

The Banishing sees the re-teaming of Christopher Smith and Sean Harris (Creep) for an old school traditional horror with a gnarly new school modern twist that proves the haunted house genre is still alive and you know what? Its doing pretty well! Strap in for possessions, creepy little kids, women going mad, a religious angle with dodgy monks and some untrustworthy reality bending as The Banishing is a horror flick that begs the question… Is it possible to escape your fate?. Oh and Sean Harris on my screen is always going to be a win so there is that.
Marianne (Jessica Brown Findley) is a young very troubled mother, moving into the most haunted house in England (apparently) in the early days of the second world war. She...

Los Angeles (AP) — Prosecutors have charged Grammy-nominated rapper 2 Chainz with felony drug possession after his arrest last year at Los Angeles International Airport. The 36-year-old entertainer, whose real name is Tauheed Epps, is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday on a felony charge of codeine possession. The rapper was arrested in June after airport officials reported finding ingredients for the cough syrup-based concoction known as "sizzurp" in his checked baggage. Publicist Sarah Cunningham said the rapper had no comment. The Atlanta-area native is best known for his hits "Birthday Song," ''I'm Different" and "Feds Watching," as well as collaborations with some of rap's biggest names, including Nicki Minaj and Kanye West. The case was first reported by celebrity web site TMZ.com. Copyright © 2014 The Associated Press. All rights reserved.

Lil Wayne continues to face the fallout for his crude lyrical reference to the slain Civil Rights figure Emmett Till: he has now been dropped as a Mountain Dew spokesman.
Despite Wayne issuing a public apology for comparing a sex act to Till's death (the teen was tortured and lynched for allegedly whistling at a white woman in 1955), and L.A. Reid, the head of Epic Records, reaching out to the Till family personally, the rapper has lost his promotion deal with Mountain Dew. Mountain Dew's parent company, PepsiCo,...

After an extremely scary and confusing night for Lil Wayne and all of his fans, his record label’s representative has spoken out and stated that everything is okay and that the rapper is recovering. Read on for more details.
The hip-hop world paused for hours on the night of Mar. 15, praying that one of the iconic rappers in history, Lil Wayne, could hang on in a Los Angeles hospital.
Lil Wayne’s Publicist: He ‘Is Recovering’
According to the rapper’s publicist, he has done just that. Lil Wayne “is recovering,” said Sarah Cunningham, a Young Money rep, while also acknowledging that he did in fact suffer another seizure.
Meanwhile, Lil Wayne’s personal publicist, Kia Selby said, “Lil Wayne is doing well.” She also strongly denied reports that Weezy had been medically induced into a coma.

The 15th City of Lights, City of Angels, a festival with both a handy acronym, Col•Coa, and a winning subtitle, "A Week of French Film Premieres in Hollywood," has opened with Philippe Le Guay's Service Entrance and closes on Sunday with Dany Boon's Nothing to Declare. In all, 34 features and 26 shorts will be screened, and we're teaming up with the festival to present five of those shorts for free. All five have been made by students of La fémis in Paris (whose alumni, by the way, include Laurent Cantet, Costa-Gavras, Claire Denis, Louis Malle, Arnaud Desplechin, Claude Miller, François Ozon and Alain Resnais).
