The estate of XXXTentacion marked the five-year anniversary of the rapper’s death Sunday with the official release of “I’m Not Human,” featuring Lil Uzi Vert.
The acoustic ballad was previously teased on what would have been the rapper born Jahseh Onfroy’s 25th birthday on Jan. 23, but the release was held until Sunday, exactly five years after Onfroy was shot and killed in Florida at the age of 20.

Lil Peep and XXXTentacion’s “Falling Down” — which came out on Wednesday — is a controversial, convoluted and potentially cathartic release, depending on your vantage point. The song is the first collaboration between two rappers both passed away young, and never worked together while they were alive. The John Cunningham-produced track features the two musicians singing about watching “the rain as it’s falling down” over a guitar-led beat.

At a time when readers should merely be speculating on the outcome of Batman #50, they’re instead discussing the controversy that is DC allowing the New York Times to blow the lid off the anniversary issue’s outcome. In other words, it’s now widely known that Bruce Wayne and Selina Kyle won’t be getting married after all.
Not only has this situation led to much backlash from the fanbase – though a percentage did see this coming and remain unfazed – but retailers are already reporting a number of cancellations from customers for the book in question. Normally, people will turn out whenever a death or resurrection is spoiled, but learning in advance that a wedding will not be taking place doesn’t sound all that enticing to many.

DC Comics has been drawing the line at $2.99 for the vast majority of their titles for some time now, and pretty much every comic book met that price point when Rebirth launched last year. Now, however, that’s set to change. While twice monthly seres like Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lanterns and Deathstroke will stay at $2.99, the rest are getting an increase.
Sixteen monthly titles will be going up to $3.99 from this April, but on the plus side, readers will now receive a download code for a digital copy with each of these comics. Marvel was recently criticized for removing that option and instead offering fans back issues, so you have to believe that this is a very deliberate decision by DC Comics.
Among the books affected by this increase are Batgirl, Batgirl and the Birds of Prey, Batman Beyond, Batwoman, Blue Beetle, Cyborg, The Hellblazer, New Super-Man, Red Hood and the Outlaws,...

In recent years I have become increasingly despondent and alarmed at developments in Hungary, the latest of which were outlined by András Schiff (A shrine to our Nazi past, 12 December). From 1991 to 2000 I lived and worked in Hungary, teaching film and media studies at most of the major Hungarian universities. On returning to the UK, I organised and/or participated in many events celebrating and promoting the film culture of Hungary. I also wrote a number of articles and one book on the topic of Hungarian film (with another to be published soon).
In November 2009 the Hungarian government of the day awarded me the Pro Cultura Hungarica medal for my services to Hungarian culture and the arts. The presentation of this award, at the Hungarian Cultural Centre in London, in the presence of a government representative, the Hungarian ambassador and the Hungarian representative for Unesco remains a vivid and proud memory.

Fans have long suspected that Nightwing might become the next great casualty in the DC Universe, going back since Dan Didio claimed that he “wanted Nightwing dead” during “Infinite Crisis” and even through Scott Snyder’s “Death of the Family” event earlier this year. When that didn’t happen in either of these events, many were left to wonder what might happen to Dick Grayson down the line. In The Guilt Trip, Barbra Streisand is intent on rediscovering her comic roots. John Patterson wishes she would stick to straight movies
Like most people of a sane and well-adjusted disposition, I find the prospect of a couple of hours stuck in a car with Barbra Streisand to be terrifying, even if her company is adulterated by the presence of likably shouty leading man Seth Rogen. That's an hour-and-a-half for me, the viewer, eight days of narrative time for Rogen and la Bar as nervous son and interfering mother, and three months of real time on set for both of them. Sounds like I got off lightly.
Streisand has been taking it easy the last decade or so. Since 2004 she has only appeared in two Fockers sequels (in which she was perfectly cast), and in the 1990s she only made two movies, both of which she directed and both of...

Streisand has been taking it easy the last decade or so. Since 2004 she has only appeared in two Fockers sequels (in which she was perfectly cast), and in the 1990s she only made two movies, both of which she directed and both of...

Newsarama chatted it up with DC's Senior Vice President of Sales Bob Wayne as well as Vice President of Marketing John Cunningham to talk on a number of things for the upcoming year. One of the things that was addressed was how big of a year it's going to be for Superman. Looking to capitalize on this summer's Man Of Steel, DC will be trying to generate sales for backlist properties by using the blockbuster as publicity. Much the same way as the did with the latest batch of Batman movies did. Cunningham called it, "best opportunity we've had to date," to push lesser known Superman titles and characters. Another thing you can expect that is Man Of Steel related will be a tie-in comic for the movie. Most comic book movies are doing this nowadays, so it should come as no surprise that DC will look to cash in...

DC Comics has promised that Vertigo will remain one of its "cornerstones". The publisher downplayed rumours of the adult-oriented imprint's imminent demise. Doubt regarding Vertigo's future has increased in recent weeks following the announcement of the imprint's founding executive editor Karen Berger's departure from the company. "When we look at Vertigo as part of DC, the buzzword would be that it's one of our cornerstones," DC vice president of marketing John Cunningham told ICv2. "I think everyone knows that Vertigo has been DC's home for cutting-edge and critically-acclaimed stories, and I don't see that changing at any time in 2013 or beyond. "If fact, if you go back to San Diego and New York and look at announcements for projects that are coming out for 2013, we announced things (more)...

Kathleen Chalfant says Tina Howe's play "Painting Churches" is a classic example of how the specific can become universal. The poignant and sometimes funny family drama, now in a revival from Off-Broadway's Keen Company, centers on a moneyed, aging Boston couple, the Churches (played by Chalfant and John Cunningham), and their ambivalent relationship with their adult daughter, Mags (Kate Turnbull). The Churches are in the process of packing up to move from their lifelong home, and Mags has arrived to paint their portrait. Chalfant's nuanced performance evokes a fun-loving wealthy eccentric who is also imperious and cruel, especially to her mentally declining husband. But in the end, she's a strong, wise, and loving figure. "This is a real love story," says Chalfant. "Fanny and Gardner love each other and are tied together."The award-winning actor says her own background is far removed from that of the Churches. She was born and.

Sundance 2012. Heidi Ewing and Rachel Grady's "Detropia"
Yesterday, Greyhoos recommended an essay by John Cunningham in the Winter 2011 issue of Variant, "Boredom in the Charnel House: Theses on 'Post-industrial' Ruins," in which "Cunningham offers six possible theses for framing 'ruin porn' in various discursive contexts, six possible means of unpacking the pop-cult fixation at hand." That term, "ruin porn," may have been coined by writer and photographer James Griffioen, suggests Jerry Herron in a recent piece for Design Observer, where he cites Thomas Morton's 2009 report for Vice, "Something, Something, Something, Detroit," as a possible first iteration. Not having seen Heidi Ewing and Rachel Grady's Detropia myself, I have no idea whether the term would apply and, reading the few reviews that have appeared since the documentary's premiere at Sundance, I'd guess that it probably does not essentially, though Ewing and Grady may succumb here and there, and quite understandably as well, to the lure of ruin pornography.

A tale of two movies, one is a realistic look at an international terrorist and the other is a popcorn flick with some fudgy accents. Your mood will dictate which film you.ll watch, but my gut tells me to stick with the original. The redo might do in a pinch. A joint mission by the American and Russian lead to the death of a mobster.s brother so the mobster decides to hire the Jackal (Bruce Willis) to avenge the death. The Jackal is a shadowy assassin who has never been photographed or caught. Officials speculate that the target is FBI director Donald Brown (John Cunningham), so the hunt for the Jackal is on. FBI deputy director...
