Alongside taking over the TV landscape with a staggering array of series, Taylor Sheridan has been engaging in a sort of Western boosterism. The man who rose to TV prominence by creating and scripting the hugely successful neo-Western series "Yellowstone" has since churned out multiple spin-offs alongside a raft of other series, many of which are either Westerns themselves or inspired by the genre. At this point, there are almost a dozen shows under the Sheridan umbrella, including a Western series that you've probably never heard of but which sums up the man's modus operandi.
"The Last Cowboy" is a reality competition series that focuses on the sport of horse reining, wherein contestants compete in the "Run for a Million" event, which was started by none other than Sheridan himself. Quick Links Robert Redford's Dazzling Political Dramedy The Candidate's Surprising Ties to the Real World The Candidate Becomes a Cinema Success
Silver screen legend Robert Redford is no stranger to starring in beloved classics and delivering unforgettable performances, and he knocked it out of the park when he appeared as an unconventional U.S. Senate hopeful in the satiric 1972 political dramedy The Candidate. The sharp and witty film chronicles Redford's lawyer-turned-politician as he wades into foreign waters while on his quest to "defeat" the Republican nominee, with the charismatic character initially being chosen only because he had zero chances of winning.
The Candidate went on to achieve widespread acclaim, and Jeremy Larner took home the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay, with the brilliant writer having had quite a bit of personal experience in the world of politics in preparation for penning the celebrated '70s hit. Let's explore...

This first remake of the 1956 sci-fi classic retains many of the original’s story points, clears up the bio minutiae for literal-minded viewers and adds a fascinating social commentary about ’70s lifestyles that’s almost as depressing as the idea of being ‘replaced’ by an alien simulacrum. Philip Kaufman’s first big hit is a worthy picture that’s maintained its high reputation … and it’s even scarier in today’s socio-political climate.
