When it comes to guest appearances on the new "Frasier" revival, all the talk has been about returning stars from the original series. The 10–episode reboot show has so far seen the return of Frasier's ex-wife, former "Cheers" co-star, and frequent "Frasier" guest star Lilith (Bebe Neuwirth). Soon we'll also see the return of Peri Gilpin, who played the doctor's radio show producer, Roz, in the original series. Alas, we won't be treated to a guest appearance by David Hyde Pierce's Niles after the actor turned down the opportunity to return for the new show.

I would say it's all been exciting stuff, but really it's been vaguely amusing stuff that feels at once comfortable and uncanny — like we're watching an alternate reality version of "Frasier" written by super-fans that's not as good as the original. Lilith's return certainly provided a shot of nostalgia but also just reminded us...

One of the things the latest version of the Frasier series does well is weave the history of its characters into the current storylines, and Frasier Season 1 Episode 9 is a wonderful example.

Let's unpack the entertaining psychology of this latest installment, which includes scheming to impress women, or at least not scare them off, as well as the relationship between fathers and sons.

We'll start with the funniest moments.

I didn't expect Frasier to go along so willingly with the story Freddy was fabricating, and that made this skit all the more comical.

Frasier really does understand how challenging it can be as an adult to explain why you're living with your parent. He's been there plenty of times as he navigated dating and living with Martin.

Freddy: It’s just, you have no idea how hard it is to explain to a woman that I’m a grown man living with my Dad.

Jules, a sci-fi film starring Ben Kingsley, went unnoticed in theaters but is now a hit on Netflix, gaining 6.7 million views in its first week in Netflix's Top 10. Despite positive reviews, the movie only made $2 million in theaters before gaining popularity on the streaming platform. Critics have praised Jules for its outstanding ensemble cast led by Kingsley and its ability to engage with universally resonant themes. It balances high concept with emotional storytelling, making it a touching sci-fi comedy.

After flying under the radar earlier this year, Jules is now a hit on Netflix. “Big Mouth” is embracing its savage side with the announcement that Grammy-winning Megan Thee Stallion will guest star in Season 7. The penultimate season of the Netflix animated comedy is set to premiere October 20.

“American Auto” has been canceled by NBC, TheWrap can confirm. This marks the third comedy to be canceled by the network after “Young Rock” and “Grand Crew,” which were axed earlier this month.

Created by Justin Spitzer, the series starred Ana Gasteyer and Harriet Dyer as the employees of a Detroit-based carmaking company. The series followed the struggles of Payne Motors after a CEO (Gasteyer) from the pharmaceutical world who knows next-to-nothing about cars is hired to run a car manufacturer. The series also starred Jon Barinholtz, Tye White, Michael Benjamin Washington, Humphrey Ker and X Mayo. Jim O’Heir, Andy Daly, Martha Kelly, Seth Meyers and Ryan Reynolds also appeared in the series as guest stars.

“American Auto” first premiered in December of 2021 to critical acclaim. Season 1 still has a 100% on Rotten Tomatoes based on 11 reviews.

Signature Entertainment has acquired the U.K. and Irish rights to Protagonist Pictures’ sci-fi comedy Jules, starring Oscar winner Ben Kingsley (Sexy Beast).

The film is led by Kingsley and also stars Harriet Sansom Harris (Licorice Pizza), Jane Curtin (Can You Ever Forgive Me?) and Zoe Winters (Succession).

The feature was produced by Deborah Liebling (65) and Andy Daly (Review), Michael B. Clark and Alex Turtletaub (The Miseducation of Cameron Post), and Oscar nominee Marc Turtletaub (Little Miss Sunshine), who also directed the project from a script written by Gavin Steckler (Review).

The movie focuses on Milton (Kingsley) who lives in a small town and is getting more forgetful and isolated with age. “When an extra-terrestrial crash lands in his backyard, destroying his beloved birdbath, the two form an unlikely bond,” according to a plot description.

Bleecker Street previously acquired the North American rights to the feature.

In 1982, the same year Sir Ben Kingsley won his Best Actor Oscar for Gandhi, the year’s other big movie was Steven Spielberg’s E.T.: The Extra Terrestrial. Now, 40 years later, Kingsley has found his own E.T., a sort of combination of that classic with a bit of Cocoon, and perhaps The Father. But Jules, the new dramedy having its world premiere on opening night of the Sonoma Film Festival, marches to its own sweet beat, and represents yet another game attempt to bring that older adult audience back to theaters. A smart distributor should take a close look.

Directed by industry veteran producer and director Marc Turtletaub and written by Gavin Steckler, this slight but engaging, even quirky little film, is a crowd-pleaser that presents Kingsley with a role that fits like a glove, and one we haven’t seen him often do, especially with a full head of hair.

Will Ferrell was, at one point, about as big of a star as one can hope to find in the world of comedy. Hulu has released the first trailer for the upcoming comedy series “History of the World, Part II.” The sketch comedy series will premiere March 6 with two episodes, followed by the release two episodes daily until the finale on March 9.
