The long-awaited Adaptation of Stephen King's Magnum Opus topped the weekend box office. The Dark Tower barely edged out Christopher Nolan's Dunkirk pulling in more than $19M dollars. That's great news for fans of the movie, but for true Stephen King fans that number 19 might raise a few eyebrows.
That's because the number 19 is important to The Dark Tower series, especially in the last three books. In the books Roland Deschain and his group start seeing the number everywhere: names that have 19 letters, numbers whose digits add up and total 19, and branches that spell out the numbers, etc.
These instances are pointed out on the Dark Tower Wiki:
Eddie Dean flys in Delta flight 910 to New York. 9 + 10 add up to 19.Alice is told to tell Nort nineteen to find out what is on the other side after death. When Jake Chambers visits Calvin Tower's bookstore, The Manhattan Restaurant of the Mind,...

"Southland" is about a lot of things -- the day-to-day work of police officers, how personal things can affect professional conduct -- but it's also very much about the city of Los Angeles.
"One of the things we're interested in is the multi-ethnic quality of Los Angeles," creator Ann Biderman says in this clip (exclusive to Zap2it) from the show's mega-dvd box set (Seasons 2, 3 and 4 in one package) that hits stores Tuesday (Feb. 5). She, executive producer Christopher Chulack and technical adviser Chic Daniel are discussing the Season 2 episode "U-Boat," in which Ben Sherman (Ben McKenzie) patrols for the first time without his training officer, John Cooper (Michael Cudlitz).
One of the cases he handles solo is that of a missing Korean girl, and it forces him to go against procedure. "The theme in a way is what do you do when you're told not to do something, and your...

How do you take your basic Joe and turn him into a cop? How do you make actors look like they know what they're doing? How do you make it look real? Well, this is how we do it: Southland Style.
The first thing we (Regina King, Ben McKenzie, Shawn Hatosy, and myself) do is go to "Police Academy." Well, our version of a police academy. When TNT's Southland first started, our technical advisor, Chic Daniel (retired Lapd), took us through a week of intensive training. We started in a classroom covering many of the things we would be required to do on film as cops. Including how to properly position your car during a traffic stop, how to cuff, how to clear a house, defensive tactics and all kinds of other things a cop would need to know. Like: how to gain control of, or advantage in, a situation...

If you’re an avid Walking Dead viewer, you might have noticed that last night’s “Save the Last One” employed some fancy new editing and aesthetic techniques to go with the usual blood n’ gore. We noticed too, and we’ll weigh in on the show new moves, as well as the episode’s shocking closing minutes, which throw in a heavier dose of moral ambiguity than ever.
