- Husband is Mike D of the Beastie Boys
- Has two sons with Mike D, Davis and Skyler.
- Was the original director of the 1994 western movie Bad Girls starring Drew Barrymore and Andie MacDowell among others but got replaced during beginning of the shoot by Jonathan Kaplan.
- Replaced Stephen Kesslar as director for Billy Madison (1995).
- Adam Sandler and Tim Herilhy were both writing the script for Happy Gilmore (1996) when she was working with both on Billy Madison (1995). They asked her to direct Happy but she passed and Dennis Dugan eventually directed starring a long-ongoing business collaboration between he and Sandler. She has since regretted passing on directing the film.
