- Peggy De Castro was born on January 24, 1921 in Cibao, Dominican Republic. She was an actress, known for Stairway for a Star (1947), Over the Santa Fe Trail (1947) and Chico and the Man (1974). She was married to Bob Lilly and Monte Hale. She died on March 6, 2004 in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.

- She was the oldest member and lead singer of the female-sister group DeCastro Sisters.
- Their only hit, the 1955 Sammy Kahn-penned "Teach Me Tonight" (#2 in 1955), has been covered by Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Peggy Lee, Sammy Davis Jr. and Al Jarreau, among others.
- Was discovered in a nightclub, called the "Club Brazil", by famed actress and singer Carmen Miranda.
- Over the last 50 years the Decastro sisters were regular performers at Las Vegas casinos and later were inducted into the Casino Legends Hall of Fame.
- The De Castro Sisters were sometimes referred to as "The Cuban Andrews Sisters".
