(June 2000) Playing a lead in the stage version of The Full Monty (1997) in San Diego, California, USA.

(December 2002) Played "Bill" in "Let Me Sing", a musical revue by Michael Bush, Michael Aman and Joel Silberman (George Street Playhouse, New Brunswick, New Jersey, USA).

Played Noah "Horse" T. Simmons in the original Broadway cast of The Full Monty and can be heard on the CD. [Best Supporting Actor in a Musical 2001 Tony nominee]

(May 2004) Played "Graham, the Gorilla" in "Prymate", a play by Mark Medoff (Longacre Theater, New York City, New York, USA). Although the show did not last long, he was heavily criticized for perpetuating the stereotype of blacks as gorillas.

Performed in Play On! [Best Supporting Actor in a Musical 1996 Tony nominee] and Stardust.

He choreographed a Bette Midler concert and "Bette Midler's Clams on the Half Shell Revue".

He was also in the original cast of Ain't Misbehavin', on Broadway.

Wrote and performed in two shows: André de Shield's Harlaam Nocturne and André de Shields: Black by Popular Demand.

(1984) Directed and choreographed the musical revue, "Blackberries", at the AMAS Repertory Theatre, New York City, conceived and written by Joseph George Caruso, produced by AMAS by special arrangement with William DeSilva and Betsy Rosenfeld. The musical won the ADELCO Award for best musical direction and choreography that season.

(1998) He acted in the musical, "Play On!", at the Goodman Theatre in Chicago, Illinois with Tonya Pinkins and Paul Oakley Stovall in the cast. The crew included Marianna Elliott (costume designer), Mike Gilliam (lighting designer), Mercedes Ellington (choreographer), Sheldon Epps (director) and J. Leonard Oxley (musical director).
