Metrograph Pictures will now release the film in theaters on April 4, 2025. The film was initially set for February 21, 2025.

Elsbeth Season 2 returns in 2025 with a brand-new episode that introduces the characters of Eric McCormack, Michael Hsu Rosen, and Marcia Debonis into the fold. 

The latest installment of the comedy and drama series, "Unalive and Well," tells the story of how a young man mysteriously died inside his car, prompting Elsbeth to investigate and link his death to the leader of a holistic wellness leader where he was last seen alive.

The tension within Ryan J. Sloan’s indie directorial debut “Gazer” is almost unparalleled: Of course the IndieWire review pointed to comparisons between Martin Scorsese, David Cronenberg, Brian De Palma, and Christopher Nolan when it came to decoding just how thrilling the feature is.

“Gazer,” which was among our favorite movies at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival, premiered during the Cannes Directors’ Fortnight. Metrograph Pictures later acquired the North American rights to the neo-noir heist thriller, with Head of Metrograph Pictures David Laub saying in a press statement just how much writer/director Sloan’s vision echoes cinema history.

Memento International has boarded “Gazer,” the debut feature of American filmmaker Ryan J. Sloan which will world premiere at Cannes Directors’ Fortnight.

Set in New Jersey, the paranoia thriller stars Ariella Mastroianni as Frankie, a young mother with a rare degenerative brain condition called dyschronometria. Dark Sky Films has acquired the U.S. rights to Booger, Mary Dauterman’s debut feature starring Grace Glowicki.

The distribution deal comes as Visit Films introduces the body horror pic to international buyers in Berlin. Glowicki plays Anna, a New Yorker faced with the sudden and unexpected death of her best friend and roommate, Izzy, played by Sofia Dobrushin.

As Anna grieves, Izzy’s cat, Booger, runs away, leading to a desperate search, only to be bitten on the hand by the cat. Anna soon takes on feline characteristics and her work life and relationship with her boyfriend go downhill.

“It’s great to see filmmakers like Mary Dauterman pushing the boundaries of horror and delivering something truly memorable. We’re thrilled to be bringing this film to audiences worldwide,” Dark Sky Films’ Giles Edwards said in a statement.

Exclusive: SAG-AFTRA has granted an interim agreement to Sometimes I Think About Dying, an indie gem produced by and starring Daisy Ridley that made a big impression in its world premiere on the opening night of the 2023 Sundance Film Festival.

Directed by Rachel Lambert, the film co-starring Ramy‘s Dave Merheje is set to hit theaters in the U.S. via Oscilloscope, as we were first to report. It’ll roll out January 26th, opening exclusively in New York at the Angelika. The agreement with SAG means that cast will be able to promote the release, bringing the pic more visibility and hopefully thereby giving it a stronger shot to break out at the box office.

The 2023 edition of Fantasia has come to an end and let me tell you: this year was a good one. From personal looks at the dark web to Indian demons, there are plenty of interesting stories to latch onto. I attended virtually and had a wonderful time with the festival, getting to see a bevy of new favorites. I should state upfront that there were several heavy-hitters from the festival that I was unfortunately unable to see due to unforeseen circumstances. So if it’s not here, that’s probably why. Now let’s take a look at some of the best that the festival had to offer.

Starz’s Heels season two episode three is titled “Discord,” but a more appropriate title would be “Redemption.” Jack sees the light and realizes he’s his own worst enemy, while Ace has a creepy nightmare visit from his dead dad that sets him back on the path to Duffy.

We kick off episode three with a brief flashback to a young Jack getting a whipping from his mom for snatching a piece of cake. Apparently, the incident left a lasting impression and was just one example of the abuse he suffered at her hands.

Flash-forward to current events, and Jack (Stephen Amell) pays a brief visit to his mom’s house to grab her phone and to announce that he’s concluded that if he and Ace kill each other, it’ll be all her fault.

Following Montreal’s 2023 Frontières Market, New York sales agent Visit Films has scooped world sales rights to “Booger,” headlining “Strawberry Mansion” star Grace Glowicki and exec produced by Ley Line Ent. and Neon Heart Productions, behind “Everything Everywhere All at Once” and “Shiva Baby” respectively.

A sometimes excruciating genre bending and blending body horror comedy about intense early adult friendship and grief at its loss, “Booger” is wrapped in a tale of supernatural transformation. Anna (Grace Glowicki) is not okay. In writer/director Mary Dauterman’s feature directorial debut, the mid-twenties New Yorker is grieving the loss of her roommate and best friend, Izzy (Sofia Dobrushin). She’s dodging calls from her co-worker Devon for repeatedly missing work, eating questionable looking Thai take-out that Izzy left in the fridge, and refusing to acknowledge that her boyfriend Max (Garrick Bernard) might also be upset about Izzy’s death.

And then Booger, the stray cat that she and Izzy adopted, escapes out the window.

The cat is the straw that breaks the camel’s back for Anna, who unravels when the last symbol of her relationship with Izzy disappears. Her attempt to recover the pet becomes an all-encompassing quest, resulting in a downward spiral that includes surreal dream sequences, blackout drinking binges, and unusual cat-like behavior.

Because Booger is genre-adjacent, that unusual behavior manifests as body horror.

Unable to come to terms with her best friend and roommate Izzy’s death, Anna (Grace Glowicki) does everything possible to avoid that which she cannot fix by focusing her energy on something she can. Or, at least, something she thinks she can fix. Because there are no guarantees Anna will find Booger the cat once he leaves out the fire escape window. No guarantees he wants to come back.

He isn’t even her cat, after all. Izzy is the one who found him stowed away in their shared apartment. She’s the one who decided to adopt him as theirs. Losing him after having just lost her thus becomes a bridge too far for Anna, already forced to comprehend a future alone, without the one person on Earth she never thought she had to worry about truly leaving.

So whether it’s just a task to distract herself...

Writer/Director Mary Dauterman’s feature directorial debut, Booger, promises to take audiences on a grossly sweet journey. Ahead of its world premiere at the Fantasia International Film Festival, Bloody Disgusting can exclusively reveal first look images that teases an unpredictable ride ahead for the genre-bending metamorphosis thriller.

“Booger is a disgusting comedy about grief. Or a body horror that’s funny and sad. Or a tragedy that makes you laugh and squirm,” says writer/director Dauterman on her film.

“The Other Two” is coming to a close after three seasons amid reports of a toxic workplace.

The beloved and critically acclaimed series will conclude with its current third season, making the June 29 episode the series finale. “The Other Two” was created by former “SNL” writers Chris Kelly and Sarah Schneider, who shared a press statement clarifying the decision to end after Season 3 was not due to being canceled.

However, The Hollywood Reporter credited sources saying there were “multiple staff complaints” about showrunners Kelly and Schneider over the course of the production. Per the THR report, the Hr complaints stemmed from behavior on set and in the writers’ room, including allegations that Kelly “verbally abused writers and overworked crew and claims that Schneider enabled his behavior.”

A source tells IndieWire that the report was unfounded and not connected to the series ending. Max representatives did not provide comment to THR.

The Other Two, the comedy series starring Heléne Yorke, Drew Tarver and Molly Shannon, is coming to a close with its third season on Max.

However, rather than being canceled, the decision was made by Chris Kelly and Sarah Schneider, co-creators of the buzzy comedy, who said that they have run out of ways to “humiliate” Tarver.

“It is bittersweet to say goodbye to the Dubek family after three seasons, but we always knew, both creatively and personally, that this was where we wanted to end their stories,” the pair said. “And because we are quite literally out of ways to humiliate Drew Tarver, so what’s the point?”

New Europe Film Sales has acquired international sales rights to Rachel Lambert’s Sundance title Sometimes I Think About Dying, and secured first deals on the film.

It has sold to Benelux (Imagine Distribution) and Turkiye (Filmarti). Further territories are under negotiation, with New Europe bringing the film to next month’s Marche du Film in Cannes (May 16-24).

Oscilloscope acquired US rights to the title from CAA earlier this week.

Exclusive: Oscilloscope has acquired U.S. rights to Sometimes I Think About Dying, directed by Rachel Lambert, and starring Daisy Ridley, Dave Merheje, Parvesh Cheena, Marcia Debonis, Meg Stalter, and Brittany O’Grady. The film had its world premiere at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival. O-Scope is planning a traditional theatrical release for the film later this year.

It has been three long years since audiences were able to pack the theaters of Park City for a Sundance premiere. Thursday night in the mountains of Utah that changed, as a packed house gathered for the world premiere of Rachel Lambert’s Sometimes I Think About Dying.

The film which was thankfully much lighter than the title suggests stars Daisy Ridley (Star Wars’ Rey) as the most introverted of all introverts Fran. Fran spends 90 minutes navigating life, her place in it, and ponders the question if the world would be better off if she didn’t exist. The film all the while handling very serious source material doesn’t shy away from finding humor and exploring the lighter side of human connection.

Fran is the sort of person neighbors would describe to reporters as quiet and kept to themselves after the discovery of a basement full of dead bodies. Robert is the guy people are just drawn to, a decent man who you feel has been a part of your friend group for years even though you just met him. In typical films, these two would have a meet cute and Fran would ultimately transform from a colorless caterpillar into a stunning butterfly. A happily ever after would follow. The End. But, thankfully, Sometimes I Think About Dying is anything but typical.

Fran (Daisy Ridley) works in a nondescript office that could be anywhere in the world at any time in modern history. There’s nothing that distinguishes it from a million other offices around the globe.

Plot: An office worker (Daisy Ridley) in Oregon struggles with a sense of alienation from her colleagues and depression until being reinvigorated by the arrival of a new worker with whom she begins an unlikely relationship.

Review: Sometimes I Think About Dying is likely a tough sell outside of the Sundance Film Festival. There’s nothing particularly wrong with it, and it boasts a fine performance from star Daisy Ridley. But, it’s such a small, even minor film that it never leaves you with much of an impression, even if it’s a perfectly enjoyable film to watch. Not much happens, and it’s the kind of low-key character study that needed some hook beyond the mild one here, being that Ridley’s character, as the title suggests, daydreams about dying.

Sometimes Fran pictures herself lying in a quiet forest, dead. Sometimes, Fran imagines herself being lifted, probably by the neck, by a massive crane, dying. Sometimes, there’s a big snake or a desolate beach. Sometimes, yes, Fran thinks about dying. And that’s Ok because Rachel Lambert’s whimsical “Sometimes I Think About Dying” and the complicated woman at its center also think about other things, good things. Like, well, not dying. Maybe even, perhaps, living.

Lambert’s initially mannered style suits the film’s wonderfully funny first act, as we’re introduced to Fran, her dreams of dying, and the spectacularly boring life that might make anyone ponder the great beyond. Loneliness is the subject of a poetic exploration in Rachel Lambert’s Sometimes I Think About Dying.
