- Kazimierz Dejmek was born on May 17, 1924 in Kowel, Wolynskie, Poland [now Kovel, Volyn Oblast, Ukraine]. He was a director and actor, known for Television Theater (1953) and Jasne Lany (1947). He was married to Danuta Mniewska, Anna Ploszaj and Irena Remiszewska. He died on December 31, 2002 in Warsaw, Mazowieckie, Poland.

- Before his death, he was working on a production of Shakespeare's "Hamlet" that was to open Jan. 30 at the New Theater in the central city of Lódz. The theater went ahead with the performances.
- Following the events of 1968, Dejmek quit the communist party. He served as Polish culture minister in 1993 and from 1995-1996.
- His production of the controversial play "Dziady" or "Forefathers" in 1968 was banned by the Polish government due to its criticism of Poland's allegiance to the Soviet Union. Its ban caused a student revolt that grew into broad criticism of the government and calls for greater freedoms.
- His son was the actor and producer Piotr Dejmek (1953-2010).
