De Mann
- Actor
- Producer
- Transportation Department
DeMann started at the age of 5 doing commercials and voice overs in his hometown of Chicago. He was born in the business under the guidance of his father, acclaimed actor/voice over, Douglas Alan Mann. Douglas was one of the founders of the critically acclaimed theater, Chicago Theater Company, Chicago's first Black Equity Theater. At his dad's theater, DeMann honed his skills as an actor starring in various plays, including The Little Tommy Parker Colored Minstrel Show, which was nominated for a Joseph Jefferson Award for best ensemble. DeMann recorded many voice overs for various products during his elementary and high school years. During his senior year at the Chicago Academy for the Performing Arts, he starred in his first movie, Up Against The Wall, directed by Ron O'Neil. Thereafter, DeMann attended the prestigious Berklee College of Music. After college, he returned to Chicago continuing his acting and voice over work. He starred in an episode of Early Edition on CBS and performed on various stages including The Steppenwolf Theater and Victory Gardens.
In 1999, DeMann moved to LA to pursue his acting on a larger scale. In his first year, he booked numerous national commercials and starred in the MTV movie, Spring Break Lawyer, as JC. He also began to get involved behind the camera working on various movies and reality shows, where he spent a good time working for Mark Cronin, founder of 51 Minds (Flavor of Love/Rock of Love/Charm School). He soon formed his own production company, Manncyr Productions, with his partner, Moacyr Orozco producing TV shows and music videos. At the request of his agent, DeMann returned to acting and continued to flourish booking national commercials for Apple and SunTrust Bank, which was featured during the 2016 SuperBowl.
DeMann is focused on working in Hollywood to promote diversity and change the way it looks at casting roles. As a Black man with freckles, he hopes to break the mold and challenge the thinking of what a "typical" black man looks like in both TV and film.
He lives by his father's motto, "Stars burn out...but a working actor lives on."
