"Are you accusing my new girlfriend of being a mermaid?" Lionsgate has revealed an official trailer for a public domain B-movie horror creation called The Little Mermaid, yes a dark and gritty horror take on this classic story. Don't forget The Little Mermaid is originally based on Hans Christian Andersen's story from his book, it's not a Disney creation. This new take is from the same director of Transmorphers, The Witches of Oz, and Piranha Sharks. Dr. Eric Prince, an archaeologist, makes a dramatic discovery on a small Caribbean island – proof of an ancient, advanced prehistoric society. While his dig is in progress, he meets the mysterious and beautiful Aurora Bey and falls in love with her, only to discover she's really a mermaid. This features Mike Markoff, Jeff Denton, Samuel Selman, Sean-Michael Argo, Winston Crooke, Steven Yniguez, Manon Laurent, and Lydia Helen as the mermaid Aurora. This is...

Something tells us this particular take on The Little Mermaid won't be belting out "Part of Your World" and cavorting with Sebastian and her other aquatic pals "Under the Sea."
Continuing the recent trend of re-adapting Disney favorites such as Winnie-The-Pooh, Mickey Mouse, Pinocchio and Bambi for the horror genre, a new adaptation of Hans Christian Anderson's classic tale is on the way from Lionsgate's Msr Media International and Grindstone Entertainment, and the first full trailer is now online (via Bloody Disgusting).
First published in 1837, Anderson's original story was significantly darker than the Disney animated version and the more recent live-action remake, but turning Ariel (here named Aurora) into a flesh-eating monster might be taking things a bit too far!
This version of the titular mermaid is a member of an ancient, advanced prehistoric society that's unearthed during an archaeological expedition.

In an exciting turn for fans of horror and classic fairy tales, Lionsgate is set to release a horror version of ‘The Little Mermaid’.
The film, inspired by Hans Christian Andersen’s beloved story, brings a chilling twist to the age-old tale and is scheduled for a digital release on December 17, 2024.
It’s another bold move following the trend of turning well-loved characters into figures of horror, with recent examples including Winnie the Pooh and Mickey Mouse.
Directed by Leigh Scott, the movie titled ‘The Little Mermaid’ dives deep into a terrifying narrative where beauty merges with horror.
The plot unfolds with Dr. Eric Prince, an archaeologist, and his students discovering an ancient pagan temple in the Caribbean’s depths.

While the 2023 Live-Action Remake of Disney’s 1989 animated classic The Little Mermaid wasn’t a failure at the box office, it certainly caused quite an uproar. The first teaser trailer is currently the most disliked Hollywood trailer of all time on YouTube. Now the beloved classic is being reimagined by another studio, but this time following in the footsteps of Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey.
Simply titled The Little Mermaid, the film comes from the independent film studio Msr Media. The film seems to blend elements from the original story but set in the modern day. The film stars Lydia Helen, Mike Markoff and Jeff Denton and is currently set for a 2024 release. The Little Mermaid will also be Rated R for language, violence and brief nudity.

Imagine if the beautiful Ariel in Disney’s animated film The Little Mermaid had sharp teeth and human blood on her lips. Well, that’s exactly what the team behind The Little Mermaid thought when they came up with the concept of this film!
To make one more nostalgic film a traumatic event for the world, Msr Media recently released the trailer for their upcoming horror film. Based on the story by Hans Christen Andersen (the author behind The Little Mermaid), this horrific trailer is everything that Halle Bailey’s film wasn’t!

The Little Mermaid is one of Hans Christian Andersen’s most beloved fairytales. The story has been made popular by Disney’s 1989 animated feature, which altered a lot of the original story, and which also received a live-action remake in 2023, starring Halle Bailey. But, it seems that this was not the final live-action adaptation of the story, as Msr Media International is bringing us a live-action horror adaptation of Andersen’s story, which recently received its first trailer and poster.
We’re not sure that anyone wanted this, but the horrible slasher Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey opened the door for such endeavors, and based on the information we have, we’re in for a series of (probably bad) low-budget horror adaptations of beloved children’s tales that will satisfy only those with the strongest of stomachs and lowest of expectations.

Possessed of an interesting title – why is it called “The Toybox” if it’s about a family taking a ride in an Rv which breaks down in the desert? – and a cast of a much higher calibre than the average indie horror movie – Denise Richards and Mischa Barton are two of the stars – I was looking forward to watching this.
Without being too critical, it’s never a good sign when you can predict how the first scene in a movie will play out. There’s a dirty, old-looking Rv parked on a street, and a kid on his bicycle. The Rv’s door swings open. My wife immediately chimes in with “that kid’s getting sucked into that Rv and the door will slam shut”. I guessed “blood splatter on the windows, as seen from the outside”. We were both right!

Generally speaking, the words "Mischa Barton horror movie" send me running the other way but for whatever reason, I clicked play on the trailer for Tom Nagel's The Toybox and I must admit, I may have judged Barton too soon.
The movie follows an estranged family who takes a family trip to the desert in their Rv. It's supposed to be a bonding trip to get everyone back into talking terms but when they find themselves stranded in the desert, they "soon learn their Rv holds terrible, haunting secrets."
In addition to Barton, the movie also stars Jeff Denton and a nearly unrecognizable Denise Richards.

The first teaser trailer for The Toybox has emerged from the desert. This is the latest horror film from director Tom Nagel (Clowntown, 2017). Somewhat reminiscent of The Hills Have Eyes (2006), a family picks up a couple of hitchhikers, after their vehicle breaks down. Both sets of characters are trapped outdoors as a malicious force lurks about. The Toybox stars: Denise Richards (Valentine, 2001), Mischa Barton (L.A. Slasher), Katie Keene (Inoperable), Jeff Denton and Matt Mercer. The official teaser trailer is below. From the synopsis, Charles (Greg Violand) has purchased a used Recreational Vehicle. He takes his family on a road trip. Along they way, they meet Samantha (Barton) and her brother. A detour leads them down the wrong track, with an entity awaiting them in the middle-of-nowhere. The Toybox will have its World Premeire at the Texas Frightmare Weekend. This first showing takes place on May 4th, in Dallas. This theatrical...

*full disclosure: a DVD screener of this film was provided by the film's publicity arm. **spoiler alert: there are spoilers here. Director: Christopher Lawrence Chapman. Writers: Christopher Lawrence Chapman, Jeff Miller. Cast: Danielle Harris, Katie Keene, Chris Hahn and Jeff Denton. Inoperable is an indie horror feature, from the filmmakers behind Clowntown (2016). This time director Christopher Lawrence Chapman and writer Jeff Miller set their horror feature in a rundown hospital, while a Category 5 Hurricane causes chaos outside. There are a lot of gruesome sights to be seen in the hospital. Sets look like something from a haunted house amusement ride. But, the film's final flourish misses a beat or two. Protagonist Amy, played by horror icon Danielle Harris, is a bit too unhinged to piece things together. Still, Inoperable is an entertaining watch, set in a scarred psyche. Tagline: "They'll Rip Out Your Funny Bone." Clourophobics beware! A new horror film, ClownTown, is coming out soon. Already completed, Steel House Productions has released a full length trailer, for this chilling feature. The clip shows several friends, stranded in a remote town. Only psychopathic clowns reside here. The film, from director Tom Nagel and scriptwriter Jeff Miller, stars: Lauren Elise, Brian Nagel, Andrew Station, Katie Keene and Jeff Denton. The official trailer is available below. At first look, the plot for ClownTown is sparse. A one line synopsis reveals very little. The trailer also offers few explanations. Though, a voice-over narration states: "clowns are like that - like a pack of dogs" and "ghosts haunted this town for years." These ghosts are set to square off against four defenceless friends, in this mysterious feature. As well, the film's first poster is hosted here. The graphic shows many of the villains.

One of the many great things about being a horror fan boy and reviewing movies is finding these great little gems that go in your back pocket to pull out for those moments when you want to make a stellar, but obscure recommendation. A suggestion that will almost surely merit a response kind of like “That movie was awesome! I can’t believe that I haven’t heard of it before.” I have two genre films that are my go to recommendations. An amazing zombie comedy flick called “Hide and Creep” that’s up on YouTube in its entirety, and this very solid werewolf flick.

NCIS: Los Angeles Races a Deadline
Callen and the team investigate after local TV reporter Adriana Gomez is killed in a drive-by shooting. Gomez had done several reports on the unrest in Libya and had been contacted by Asaad El-Libi, a pirate broadcaster who had gotten around Gaddafi’s Internet firewalls to become a source of inspiration to rebel forces. NCIS became involved because one of Gomez’s sources was Cmdr. Gavin Madison (Jeff Denton) in Naval Intelligence.
Asaad El-Libi was described as an expatriate who had lived in the U.S. and moved back to Libya when tensions rose there. His broadcasts were thought to originate from Libya, but Callen and Sam discovered they actually came from a closed auto shop owned by one of Adriana Gomez’s contacts, Farag Hijazi (Piter Marek).
Eventually, tracking a car used by the Libyan hit team, Callen and Sam found El-Libi’s body; however,...

Important Note: There may be some films that do not become available on the specified dates. This is merely a report of the most accurate release dates I can find, but is not directly confirmed by Netflix themselves.

One-eyed Monster, just out on DVD from Liberation Entertainment, is a horror/comedy (with an emphasis on the comedy) set in the mountain wilderness of Mammoth Lakes, CA, where a porn shoot is taking place with adult-film legends Ron (“The Hedgehog”) Jeremy and Veronica Hart (playing themselves) plus a group of younger cast and crew. During the filming of one sequence, Jeremy can’t get his johnson to respond, and so he steps outside for some fresh air—where he’s possessed by an alien that appears as a flash of light in the sky.
When the director (Jeff Denton) subsequently asks Jeremy if his tallywhacker is now up to the task, the actor replies in the affirmative. Jumping back into the scene (and onto Hart), Jeremy puts his bratwurst to the test. All seems well…until he starts to convulse and Hart starts to scream. Cut is quickly called...
