Director Christopher Landon gives a behind-the-scenes look at his upcoming film Drop in the new featurette below.
“I wrote a film called Disturbia, which was Hitchcock by way of John Hughes. This felt like the evolution of that kind of a film,” Landon explains. “It straddles Hitchcock, but it’s also very much like a ’90s thriller, but it’s using very modern technology.”
Produced by Blumhouse and Platinum Dunes, the horror-thriller drops in theaters on April 11 from Universal.
Meghann Fahy (“The White Lotus”) and Brandon Sklenar (It Ends With Us) star as a couple on a blind first-date whose romantic dinner spirals into a deadly game of cat-and-mouse in which everyone’s a suspect.

Starring Emmy nominee Meghann Fahy (The White Lotus) and Brandon Sklenar (1923), the film is set to hit UK cinemas on 11 April 2025.
Fahy leads the cast as Violet, a widowed mother cautiously navigating her first date in years. Her nerves about the evening are briefly eased when her date, Henry (played by Sklenar), turns out to be both charming and handsome. However, what begins as a promising encounter quickly spirals into terror. Violet receives a series of anonymous, increasingly menacing messages on her phone. These “drops” start as unsettling memes but escalate into chilling threats against her young son and sister, who are at home under the watch of an unseen figure captured on Violet’s security cameras.

Sylvester Stallone is one of the biggest action movie stars on the planet and has an astounding career playing brave heroes, skilled assassins, and even traumatized veterans. While Stallone gained his breakout role as the underdog fighter Rocky Balboa in his famous sports franchise, following this success, he carved out another career as a true action movie star chasing bad guys and bringing crooks to justice. Spurred by his longstanding rivalry with Arnold Schwarzenegger, Stallone has continually pushed himself toward more over-the-top, chaotic, and wildly entertaining action movie releases.
Many of Stallones best films were in the action movie genre, as he excelled in the Rambo franchise and portrayed countless heroes across prison movies, thrillers, sci-fi films, and more. With an often underappreciated skill for portraying tough guy characters as well as layered and noble lawmen, Stallone has proved his skills by acting opposite everyone from Antonio Banderas to Robert De Niro.

Dark Matter's renewal is exciting, but it also means season 2 of the multiverse show could follow a similar trajectory that doomed another adaption of a book by the same writer. Blake Crouch is a renowned sci-fi author, and while only two shows have been created from his literary works so far, there is far more potential to come from his impressive back catalog. Although changes were made to 2016's Dark Matter book for season 1, the overall story remained the same in Apple TV+'s version. However, Dark Matter season 2's confirmation calls for a very different production process.
Joel Edgerton led the cast of Dark Matter season 1 as Jason Dessen. Although the inaugural run of episodes ends with the possibility of Edgerton's return in season 2, the story's continuation would also largely make sense without his presence. Dark Matter season 1's ending implies the focus will shift to other characters.

Showrunner Anna Fishko confirms multiple seasons are planned for Orphan Black: Echoes. The new season could go in different directions, says Fishko. Future seasons have the opportunity to build on the strength of the first installment.
Orphan Black: Echoes showrunner Anna Fishko offers an optimistic response about the future of the AMC show. Consisting of ten episodes, the Orphan Black spinoff stars Breaking Bad and Jessica Jones actor Krysten Ritter as Lucy, a woman who wakes up with no memory of who she is. As the series progresses, more is revealed about a cloning conspiracy that carries strong connections with the original series. With a supporting cast that includes Keeley Hawes, Amanda Fix, and Avan Jogia, the first installment leaves plenty of room for further exploration.
In an interview with Collider, following the Orphan Black: Echoes season 1 finale, Fishko was asked about whether the spinoff could return for more seasons.

It's amazing that Stephen King finds time to read and watch movies with what a busy writer he is, but he does it. The author frequently shares book, film, and TV recommendations on social media (he loves the Kurt Russell Western "Bone Tomahawk.") King also makes the time to film cameos in movies and TV, both adaptations of his work and, in 2010, the "Sons of Anarchy" episode "Caregiver." (King played a laconic "cleaner" named Bachman after his old pen name Richard Bachman.)
King loves "Sons of Anarchy," but he has room in his heart for more than one prestige TV crime thriller. In a 2014 interview with Rolling Stone, King was asked what the best TV show of the past 15 years is. He answered "Breaking Bad," saying he saw its greatness from the very first scene, where Walter White (Bryan Cranston) scrambles in the desert wearing tighty-whities.

Twin Peaks reshaped TV with its surreal horror and soap opera elements, influencing many shows like True Detective and Dark. Twin Peaks' atmospheric menace in a small-town setting and the central question of who killed Laura Palmer are uniquely haunting. Led by Kyle MacLachlan, Twin Peaks spawned imitations and homages, making it an incredibly important cult classic.
It's impossible to name every single horror movie or TV show inspired by Twin Peaks. Without a doubt, David Lynch and Mark Frost's mystery drama reshaped television and visual storytelling when the series premiered in 1990. Packed with surreal, horror, and soap opera elements, Twin Peaks has an incredibly distinct feel. The atmospheric menace that permeates the show's small-town setting is uniquely haunting, as is the cosmic nature of Twin Peaks' central question: Who killed Laura Palmer? Led by Kyle MacLachlan's Dale Cooper, Twin Peaks is a singular series, but it also spawned many imitations and homages.

Before David Simon debuted his groundbreaking socio-political tapestry “The Wire” to audiences and helped garner the prestige HBO now only reserves for “Game of Thrones” and superhero spinoffs, he wrote the book on the world of crime and law enforcement in Baltimore. Published in 1991, his non-fiction book “Homicide: A Year of Killing Streets” pools two years of research from Simon’s time spent observing the Baltimore Police Department, which itself followed four years spent on the police beat for The Baltimore Sun newspaper.
Wishing to adapt the book into a feature film, Simon got a copy to filmmaker and Baltimore native Barry Levinson, who felt the material was better suited to a TV series. Levinson shared with Paul Attansio, a former Washington Post film critic whose would go on to write the Oscar-nominated “Quiz Show,” as well as “Donnie Brasco,” and together the team brought the project to NBC, where...

Homicide: Life on the Street has been absent from streaming, but the critically acclaimed crime drama has finally found a new home and will launch next month. The series was based on David Simon’s book Homicide: A Year on the Killing Streets and was created by Paul Attanasio. It followed the Baltimore Police Department’s Homicide Unit. Bleak and unglamorous, the show was praised for its more realistic treatment of detectives and their work; threads weren’t always tied up at the end, and criminals sometimes got away. The Shield almost didn't air after 9/11 due to its negative portrayal of police officers, but the success of Training Day reassured FX to proceed. The show premiered in March 2002 and became one of the greatest television series of all time, offering a gritty, realistic depiction of law enforcement. Despite concerns about sensitivity, The Shield presented a complex view of law enforcement that resonated with audiences, not conflicting with the heroism of police during 9/11.
Walton Goggins recalls why The Shield almost didn't air after 9/11, saying "it was sacrilegious." Premiered in March 2002, the FX series follows the corrupt police officers who make up an experimental division of the Los Angeles Police Department that works to reduce gang-related crime by using criminal methods themselves. The Shield cast includes Goggins as Detective Shane Vendrell alongside Michael Chiklis, Catherine Dent, Reed Diamond, Michael Jace, Kenny Johnson, Jay Karnes, Benito Martinez, Cch Pounder, Glenn Close, Cathy Cahlin Ryan,...

Plot: Set in the near future, Orphan Black: Echoes takes a deep dive into the exploration of the scientific manipulation of human existence. It follows a group of women as they weave their way into each other’s lives and embark on a thrilling journey, unraveling the mystery of their identity and uncovering a wrenching story of love and betrayal. Ritter plays Lucy, a woman with an unimaginable origin story, trying to find her place in the world.

"Tide's coming in..." Gravitas has revealed an official trailer for an indie drama titled The Way We Speak, marking the feature directorial debut of indie filmmaker Ian Ebright. It premiered at the 2024 Florida Film Festival a few months ago, also screening at the RiverRun and Julien Dubuque Film Festivals. The Way We Speak is a modern cautionary tale. The synopsis is rather vague: An up-and-coming writer refuses to leave the spotlight when his best friend and debate opponent suffers cardiac arrest, leading to an obsession over his new opponent. Described in reviews as "a rich character study that centers around obsession, insecurity, and jealousy." Patrick Fabian stars as Simon, along with Diana Coconubo, Kailey Rhodes, Ayanna Berkshire, Lowell Deo, Ricco Distefano, and Reed Diamond. This very moody, nearly dialogue-free trailer is a clever cover-up for the film's religious undercurrents - it's about how an atheist becomes insecure about his young,...

Andre Braugher’s cause of death has been revealed to be lung cancer, his rep has confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter.
Braugher died Monday at 61 after what his rep then said was a “brief illness.”
He starred as master interrogator Det. Frank Pembleton on NBC’s Homicide: Life on the Street for the first six seasons of the show’s acclaimed run, then played another cop, Capt. Raymond Holt — this time against type and for laughs — on the 2013-21 Fox-nbc sitcom Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
He won his first Emmy in 1998 for outstanding lead actor in a drama series for Homicide after a season that featured one of its most memorable episodes, “Subway.” That was a two-hander in which Pembleton tries to unearth whether a man (Vincent D’Onofrio) pinned between a Baltimore subway train and the platform was pushed onto the track — while also trying to comfort him in his dying moments.

Krysten Ritter has fallen down an all new rabbit hole in the first look at the AMC Networks’ anticipated spinoff, Orphan Black: Echoes.
The network released the minute-and-a-half trailer on Thursday during its panel for The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, and sees a disoriented Lucy (portrayed by Ritter) waking up to an unrecognizable near future. The original series is set in the same clone-filled universe as its critically acclaimed and fan-loved BBC America predecessor, Orphan Black, which starred Tatiana Maslany.
“What’s wrong with me?” Ritter’s Lucy can be seen asking. ”Why don’t I know who I am?”
The series is set to explore the scientific manipulation of human existence and will follow a group of women as they weave their way into each other’s lives while embarking on a journey that will both unravel the mystery of their identity and uncover a story of love and betrayal.

The promo was unveiled during New York Comic Con on Thursday and showcases Ritter as Lucy, a young woman caught up in what we can only describe as a nightmare.
