As AI is becoming more and more entrenched in modern music-making, many are testing the boundaries of the still-quite-new technology. One such artist is “You’re Beautiful” singer James Blunt, who asked AI to replicate his lyrical style, only to find that “either AI comes up with something very, very generic or my lyrics are just absolutely mundane.”
The mostly-joking comments from Blunt arrived in his recent interview with Squeeze’s Chris Difford on the podcast I Never Thought It Would Happen. After being asked what he thought about Young people using AI to write lyrics for them, Blunt said, “Every single one of us must have, having heard of [AI], typed in and then written ‘Give me a verse based on this, in the style of, in my case, a James Blunt lyric’”
Whenever he’s done it, though, Blunt was pretty disappointed in the “absolutely mundane” results. “So, AI has...

With the premiere of The X-Files revival almost upon us, I’ve been re-watching the series again. This is probably the fifth time in my life that I’ve gone through and watched the entire series. (Thanks for that, Netflix!) It’s the gift that keeps on giving. I have a blast watching this show, and there are always things I catch that I’ve never noticed before. As I watched it this last time, I made a list of ten of my favorite episodes that left a lasting impression on me, and I wanted to share that list with you.
There are so many great episodes in this show that it was hard to nail it down to just ten, but that's what I did. There's a good chance that all of my choices won't be in line with your choices of favorite episodes. I wanted to add as much variety as I could.

Jim and Hilda Bloggs (voiced by legendary English actors Peggy Ashcroft and John Mills), a middle-class, elderly British couple who, with the help of government-issued pamphlets, build a shelter and prepare for an impending nuclear attack, unaware that times and the nature of war have changed from their romantic memories of World War II. There home is hit indirectly by a Soviet nuclear bomb, leaving it in ashes and barely standing, with the couple surviving by ducking behind a door that Jim set up as an inner refuge. It’s a general truism, if not a concrete fact, that a new television series will fully reveal itself by its third episode. (Throat clearing’s done. This is what I am. You in or out?) So we get, most recently, The Leftovers’ Christopher Eccleston–centric soul barer “Two Boats and a Helicopter.” Also Breaking Bad’s “…And the Bag’s in the River,” with its protracted, unbearably tense basement confrontation between Walter White and Krazy 8. And Homicide: Life on the Street’s “Night of the Dead Living” (aired ninth during first broadcast, but returned to the third slot for its home-video release), a single-setting masterpiece in which the Baltimore cop squad works a sweltering summer night shift. Additionally, The X-Files’ “Squeeze,” the first “Monster of the Week” episode, which was indicative of the many imaginative tangents that great series would take from its primary conspiracy arc. And let’s...

She always has a blast wherever she goes, and Tyra Banks caused quite a scene on “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” last night (July 31).
The gorgeous supermodel looked amazing as she promoted the season premiere of “America’s Next Top Model,” noting that this time around there will be male hopefuls as well as female competitors.
Fallon asked Tyra to show him some posing tricks, and before he knew it, Ms. Banks was all up on him.
She explained, "The first thing that we need to do is have mints because you don't want funk breath. Feel the goodness. It's important to have tension. I'll need to feel the tension. Squeeze my arm where you actually see the indentions in my flesh- harder … harder! Harder!"
Jimmy reluctantly obeyed as he blurted out, “Oh my God. I have so much tension right now… My wife is going to kill me!”...

Few genres of film inspire more personal responses than the romantic comedy. Given how much of our lives is spent on love and romance (falling into it, falling out of it, chasing it, giving up on it), it's no surprise that the rom-com has remained one of the most popular formulas since the dawn of cinema, and while the genre has undisputed classics, you can end up cherishing certain films purely because of their connection to your own life. They can help pull you out of a post break-up tailspin, they can comfort you through unrequited love, and, if a film hits you at the height of your passion for someone, they can end up associated forever, even blinding you to the movie's flaws -- seeing "Elizabethtown" in the midst of first love left this writer swooning after exiting the theater (thankfully, a subsequent rewatch put me straight as to how terrible it is.

Olly Murs has announced that he will release his debut album on November 29. The self-titled LP will feature 12 tracks including the singer's recent number one 'Please Don't Let Me Go' and his new single 'Thinking Of Me', which precedes the album's release on November 21. Murs, who finished second to Joe McElderry on The X Factor last December, co-wrote the majority of the record with collaborators including Trevor Horn, Squeeze's Chris Difford and Ivor Novello winner Eg White. "Epic could have gone to all these writers and said, 'Right, Olly's not gonna be in the session, but we want you all to write (more)...

A Conversation with Squeeze's Chris Difford & Glenn Tilbrook Mike Ragogna: Your new album Spot The Difference is a revisit of previous hits and classics. And as your title suggests, it's literally hard to spot the difference on many of these songs. Why did you record a project like this? Chris Difford: Well, Squeeze has never owned our own copyrights because, obviously, they're owned by a major record label. We thought it might be fun to re-record our songs to make it possible for us to own a little bit more of our own history. So, Glenn went in the studio, and did most of the work. I have to bow down to his achievements as a producer because he's done a great job of making them sound pretty much like the originals. Mr: Master licensing is usually buttoned-up...
