Brother of Joel Murray, Bill Murray and John Murray.

"Doyle" is his grandmother's maiden name. He added it to his name to avoid confusion with Brian Murray.

Acted in 2 different movies in the "Vacation" series playing 2 different characters. Had a small role in Vacation (1983) as the Kamp Komfort Clerk, and a larger role in Christmas Vacation (1989) as Clark Griswold's boss Frank Shirley.

As of February 2022, he is the only person still alive who helped write the script for Caddyshack (1980). His co-writer Douglas Kenney died in 1980 only one month after the film's release, while his good friend, co/writer and director Harold Ramis passed away in 2014.
