The Second Best Hospital in the Galaxy Season 2 Review — The Best-Kept Secret in Animation Returns
Image
While it largely flew under the radar in Prime Video’s adult animation catalogue — which includes the uber-popular Invincible and Hazbin Hotel — Cirocco Dunlap’s The Second Best Hospital in the Galaxy was lucky enough to get a renewal. With a star-studded cast and genuinely sharp writing, season two of The Second Best Hospital in the Galaxy uses its wacky premise to deliver both great humor and moving character moments.

The Second Best Hospital in the Galaxy Season 2 Review

The Second Best Hospital in the Galaxy follows best friends Dr. Klak and Dr. Sleech: alien doctors who work in a hospital that serves intergalactic patients. After they achieve the success they have spent their lives fighting for, they find that their careers might be getting in the way of their friendship — and vice versa.

One of the best things about the first season of The Second Best Hospital in the Galaxy was its queer representation.

Save the date: Tuesday, May 27, 2025! That’s when all eight episodes will land exclusively on Prime Video, ready to beam into your screens across the globe. From the wonderfully warped mind of creator Cirocco Dunlap and executive producers the brilliant duo of Maya Rudolph and Natasha Lyonne, the series follows the fearless and inseparable surgeon besties, Dr. Sleech and Dr. Klak. These two are known for constantly pushing the boundaries (and likely a few galactic laws) as they tackle the universe’s most bizarre and perilous medical cases. Season two promises even more chaos as Doctors Sleech and Klak find themselves basking in the glow of recent success.

Interview: The Second Best Hospital in the Galaxy Showrunner Cirocco Dunlap on Diversity & Dark Comedy
Image
The Second Best Hospital in the Galaxy is the latest animated series to premiere on Prime Video, fusing elements of a sci-fi adult cartoon like Rick and Morty with character-driven medical dramedies like House. Dr. Klak (Keke Palmer) and Dr. Sleech (Stephanie Hsu) are physicians in an alien hospital, balancing all sorts of dangerous and wild situations while navigating office romances, anxiety attacks, and ethical dilemmas. Alongside fellow caregivers like Plowp (Kieran Culkin), Vlam (Maya Rudolph), and Nuse Tup (Natasha Lyonne), Klak and Sleech work to save lives amid their personal desires and ambitions.

It's a clever and colorful comedy, with a deft sense of character amid some truly wild imagery. Dr. Klak is the standout character in "The Second Best Hospital in the Galaxy," with a focus on mental health and family dynamics. Frandon Flork, the chief surgeon with two heads, steals scenes with funny jokes and quirky personality.

The Second Best Hospital in the Galaxy has introduced all kinds of new characters to the world of Amazon Prime Video's unique animated sci-fi comedy series, and here are the 10 best characters from the show, ranked. The aptly-named series takes place in an intergalactic hospital, with the majority of the characters being alien doctors, nurses, and surgeons. The Second Best Hospital In The Galaxy's Best Mystery Perfectly Sets Up Season 2
Image
Dr. Sleech's mysterious origin story will take center stage in Season 2 of The Second Best Hospital in the Galaxy. Sleech's history before the events of the show remains veiled in mystery, providing an exciting storyline to explore. Season 1 finale hints at Season 2 unraveling Sleech's backstory, setting up an intriguing and darker future for the character.

The Second Best Hospital in the Galaxy season 1 has already ended, but the show's best mystery perfectly sets up the story of season 2. The main arc of The Second Best Hospital in the Galaxy season 1 is fairly wrapped up by the finale, meaning that there isn't much to expand on when it comes to Klak's relationship with her mother or the fight against Larvin. However, one story thread is left untied in the finale, with The Second Best Hospital in the Galaxy perfectly positioning itself to explore one major character mystery.

The Second Best Hospital in the Galaxy Is a First-Rate Animated Comedy
Image
There’s nothing cut-rate about The Second Best Hospital in the Galaxy, an absurd yet emotionally grounded new series from Russian Doll writer Cirocco Dunlap. Titmouse Animation, the studio behind such visually sumptuous series as Scavengers Reign and Pantheon, and production designer Robin Eisenberg have created a galaxy teeming with life in all of its glorious — and grotesque — forms. And Stephanie Hsu and Keke Palmer, two of the most exciting actors working today, lead a cast that’s stacked from top to bottom.

Amazon's New Animated Sitcom Copies A Major Leonard Story From The Big Bang Theory
Image
The new Amazon series, The Second Best Hospital in the Galaxy, borrows a major plot point from The Big Bang Theory. Both shows explore characters dealing with parental issues, anxiety, and psychological challenges in unique ways. The Amazon series takes the Leonard-inspired storyline to a darker and more serious place than its sitcom counterpart.

Amazon Prime Video has just released a new animated sitcom, and it actually copies a major Leonard story from The Big Bang Theory. The Big Bang Theory and the new Amazon show couldn't seem more different, with them featuring entirely different settings, characters, and premises. However, a major storyline from the Amazon series perfectly parallels with an arc from The Big Bang Theory, showing that the two shows are more similar than they may initially seem.

Amazon Prime Video has finally released The Second Best Hospital in the Galaxy, an all-new series from showrunner and writer Cirocco Dunlap.

What to watch this weekend February 23, 2024: TV awards contenders
Image
While you weren’t watching, Amazon’s Prime Video quietly blossomed into a haven for adult animation. The streaming service’s latest addition to its lineup, the sci-fi comedy “The Second Best Hospital in the Galaxy,” is the brainchild of Cirocco Dunlap, whose résumé includes Netflix’s “Russian Doll” and “Big Mouth.” The show, which is now streaming, follows the adventures of two alien doctors, Klak and Sleech, as they treat a myriad of strange illnesses and maladies afflicting the brilliant and unique beings that populate the titular galaxy.

While the show’s writers are clearly having fun trying to stretch the limits of the imagination, the series also dedicates a significant amount of its runtime to telling relatable stories about universally understood medical conditions, too, like anxiety. The result is a well-rounded, enjoyable comedy that deserves your attention. When you toss in an impressive voice cast that also includes Kieran Culkin,...

The Second Best Hospital in the Galaxy is a unique blend of genres that feels familiar yet refreshing. The Second Best Hospital in the Galaxy delves deep into serious topics while keeping its comedic tone. The show's cohesive narrative and talented cast shine brightly.

Adult animated shows are becoming more and more common, but even among stiff competition, The Second Best Hospital in the Galaxy manages to stand out. The show blends several genres together in order to create a unique series that feels familiar and comparable to other popular adult animation, while still forging a new path. What Year The Second Best Hospital In The Galaxy Takes Place
Image
The Second Best Hospital in the Galaxy takes place in the year 14002, setting it far into the future from our timeline. The show features a star-studded cast including Keke Palmer, Kieran Culkin, and Natasha Lyonne. Humans existed in the show's timeline, but their exact fate is left vague as they are no longer seen on the series.

The Second Best Hospital in the Galaxy is a new futuristic sci-fi series from Amazon Prime Video, and here's what year the show actually takes place in. The world of The Second Best Hospital in the Galaxy is pretty wacky, with the various alien species and pieces of far-out technology making it seem as if it may take place in an entirely different dimension. However, The Second Best Hospital in the Galaxy seemingly takes place in the same timeline as our own, with it merely taking place eons in the future.

The Second Best Hospital in the Galaxy (2024)
Are you down for something a little twisted? Well, I may have the cure. The new Prime Video series The Second Best Hospital in the Galaxy is gruesomely hilarious and wonderfully witty. It’s wild and weird and offers up a great cast of characters. The inclusion of Maya Rudolph, Natasha Lyonne, and the Culkin family is truly inspired. And if you want a lot of animated gore, you are in for a bit of a treat here. Showrunner Cirocco Dunlap has done a nice job of creating something new and unique.

Recently, I had a very entertaining chat with Natasha Lyonne, Maya Rudolph, and Cirocco Dunlap about their latest. The conversation ran the gamut from bringing such a gruesome nature to the show, as well as centering the series around women. Natasha Lyonne and Maya Rudolph talked about the impressive cast and the colourful characters on display. It was...

How “Culkin Whisperer” Natasha Lyonne Got All Five Culkin Brothers to Appear in ‘The Second Best Hospital in the Galaxy’
Image
Prime Video adult animated series The Second Best Hospital in the Galaxy features not just one Culkin — with Kieran Culkin voicing one of the main characters — but all five brothers working together for the first time, and it turns out Natasha Lyonne helped make it all happen.

Lyonne, who executive produced and co-stars in the show, has been longtime friends with both Kieran and Macaulay Culkin, “so Kieran came up for the role of Dr. Plowp and in a crazy turn of events, the bird alien [character that he plays] had four brothers [in the script] before he was cast. So he had the four brothers already and when we cast Kieran we were like, ‘You have four brothers! That’s ridiculous, what fate,'” showrunner Cirocco Dunlap told The Hollywood Reporter at the Los Angeles premiere on Tuesday. “Kieran was the one who suggested it, he was like, ‘We could get my brothers’ and I was like,...

This killer gets up to their bloody business on city streets and in apartment buildings – which makes the movie so unique, they even had to mention the setting in the title.

‘Baymax’: ‘Big Hero 6’ Spin-Off Makes the Inflatable Robot a Healthcare Superhero
Image
.

Baymax gets his own animated series — the first Disney+ series from Disney’s feature animation unit — and it’s a far cry from his superhero antics in the “Big Hero 6” feature and previous animated spin-off series. “Baymax!” (streaming Wednesday) finds the affable, inflatable robot (voiced by Scott Adsit) returning to his original programming as a healthcare companion in San Fransokyo. In the six short episodes, he helps people with physical ailments while also getting them over emotional hurdles as well.

“What I thought we could do with the series is actually just focus on Baymax and one patient at a time,” creator Don Hall said at a virtual press conference earlier this week. In search of a different perspective for “Baymax!,” the Oscar-winning director of “Big Hero 6,” “Moana,” and the upcoming “Strange World” reached back to television’s past. “I remembered back as a kid watching medical procedurals...

Disney+ has given us another look at the upcoming “Big Hero 6” spinoff animated series “Baymax!”

In the latest trailer for the series, which you can watch above, Hiro (Ryan Potter) wakes up to realize that his friendly robot is nowhere to be found. It turns out, Baymax (Scott Adsit) is roaming the city of San Fransokyo trying to help others.

As a medical companion robot, Baymax often seeks out people (and creatures) who have physical ailments, like a woman who sprains her ankle and another who hurts her back. He also tries to save a cat, which doesn’t go as planned when he tells the animal to “remain calm” and instead it pokes several holes in his body.

But, he soon learns that some of their problems go much deeper than the surface. “I guess a hero’s job is never done,” Hiro says.
