Fascinated by movies from an early age, Lou had a multi-faceted career culminating with over 20 years in public relations and as a unit publicist for dozens of movies filmed on locations throughout the world. In several films, he and his wife appeared as an extras. Born in El Paso, Texas, his writer's craft served him in four different careers: first, as a reporter and editor with the Los Angeles Times; second as a United States Air Force officer serving in both World War II and Korea, and later as public information officer for the Air Force's Space Systems Command, before retiring as a Colonel; third as a top executive with the City of Los Angeles, and finally as a entertainment industry publicist. In the 1950s and1960s, he was publicist for various TV shows including "Cheyenne," "Maverick," "Tombstone Territory," "Hitchcock Presents," "Donna Reed Show," "David Niven Show," "Father Knows Best," "76 Sports Club," "Goodyear Theater," "Dennis The Menace," "The Californians," "Empire," "Big Valley," "I Dream Of Jeannie," "Bewitched," "The Farmer's Daughter," "Hazel," "Route 66," "Naked City," "No Warning," and "Monte Nash." He also wrote a number of scripts for film and television, including "Black Tide," produced as "Stormy Crossing" staring John Ireland, and an armchair detective series later published in book form as "My Key Fits Every Door."

  • Trivia
An Air Force Colonel in real life, Lou in Tora! Tora! Tora! wears his Colonel's wings and WWII uniform while appearing as a Navy Captain. In his non-speaking role as one of Adm. Kimmel's aides, he carries papers across the hectic scene in the staff planning room. Lou is the only American officer portrayed in the movie who actually earned the rank he wears.
