After working in print media and public relations, Waltraud directed the 4-episodes historical docu-show 'Munich 1900 until 1949 - Stories of a City' for German public TV channel in 1985. In 1985 she wrote and directed her movie debut 'Katzenjammer Kids', which was shot in the US, shown in German Film Festival Hof and Berlinale, sold to a couple of countries and also and aired on German TV. 1985, Waltraud co-founded production company relief-film, which over the next ten years produced low-budget feature films and documentaries in India, South Korea, Algeria, Tunisia, Mauritius, Madagascar and in the South Pacific.
1995-2015 Waltraud focused on writing popular TV-shows and TV-movies for German and Swiss public and private TV channels. Highlights: 2004 'Fremde im Paradies' for Swiss TV, awarded with the Prix Swissperform Cinema Tout Ecran Geneva. 2005 Waltraud created and scripted the German public TV ZDF crime-show 'Unter anderen Umstaenden', shown at Hamburg Filmfestival and awarded with the Civis-Price in 2006. ZDF Crime-drama 'Der Tote im Watt' had the best viewing rate of ZDF Monday evening slot in 2013.
2017-2022 Waltraud focused on coaching young Kenyan creatives for creating 'Country Queen'. Showrunner and executive producer of 'Country Queen', the first Kenyan series on Netflix, also shown on Arte in Germany and France.
