For this month’s installment of “TV Terrors” we revisit the horror-comedy sitcom “Holliston,” which aired for two seasons on the now-defunct FEARnet in 2012 and 2013.
Adam Green and Joe Lynch are two filmmakers and genuine horror fans who have given their fellow horror fans so much over the years, including some great movies like Mayhem, the Hatchet franchise, and Frozen, as well as the upcoming Suitable Flesh. Among their many contributions to the genre was their horror sitcom, “Holliston.”
The best way to describe the series for the uninitiated would be if “Spaced” had a head on collision with “Friends” and was re-attached into a weird, funny monster. Originally premiering as the first original series on the now defunct FEARnet in 2012, “Holliston” is set in the small town of Holliston, Massachusetts, and stars Adam Green as “Adam” and Joe Lynch as “Joe.” Both stars play fictional versions of themselves that are best friends and roommates.

The past month or so has been incredibly eventful for Adam Green's "Holliston." The show tragically lost one cast member, released Season 2 on Blu-ray, and then got the news that the network it airs on is shutting down...
Creator Adam Green and co-star Joe Lynch sat down with Dread Central recently for a massive interview all about "Holliston."
Show creator and star Adam Green talked about his love for the "Holliston" series. "It's my favorite thing I've ever done," Green said. "It's my best work to date, and I think a lot of the people involved in the show would say the same thing. If you like Season 1, I think Season 2 really blows it away. I think with any sitcom the second season is usually considered to be funnier and better than the first, mainly because you know the characters, you know the world, you know the tone. And...

I don’t have the world’s greatest relationship with Holliston. I remember reading about it, prior to the airing of season one, and being excited. Then I remember the disappointment I experienced when finally having the ability to watch it, seeing as Fearnet has a pretty limited reach, as far as availability goes. All of the elements were there, but it just didn’t click with me. One of the main problems I had, was that for the type of show that it was, it was way too long. Shows that feature the sitcom format should never go on for any longer than thirty minutes. By the forty minute mark, the novelty has worn off, and some viewers are beyond ready for the episode to end. That’s not to say that there wasn’t some entertaining moments, it’s just that whatever momentum it created, was ruined by the excessively long running time.

*Editor’s Note: As mentioned earlier this week, we decided to try something different with our “End of the Year” list, opting for our favorite horror experiences in 2013 over a top movies list. We hope you’ve enjoyed reading our writers’ picks, which not only includes movies, but performances, events, and collectibles. Wrapping up our Favorites of 2013 is Kristian Hanson, who shares some of his favorite movies, collectibles, and TV shows:
The Conjuring:
Taking a look back at 2013, the horror community was privileged to a great deal of quality film and horror collectibles. For my pick of my favorite horror film this year, I would have to place The Conjuring at the top of my list. I grew up with stories from my mother about these case files and when I finally got to see the film, James Wan did not disappoint. The spooky camerawork and atmosphere really placed me inside of the film,...

Fans who attended Rock and Shock 2013 all got another killer weekend. There was just one unsettling occurrence we can't shake. When asked if he had gotten word about Season 3 of "Holliston" at a standing room only panel presentation, creator Adam Green said he hadn't.
And that, "Holliston" Nation, is concerning.
To quoth the Green directly when questioned about Season 3, he said, "We don't expect to hear until the end of the year or early next year, but obviously we're holding our breath just like many of you are and hope that we get the good word any day now. You gotta keep in mind that FEARnet was originally created to show horror movies, and “Holliston” was only produced because its president, Peter Block, who is a close friend of everyone on this show and who also produced my movie Frozen, had the foresight to air an original show for their...

Adam Green has done an amazing job creating "Holliston". Perhaps his greatest stroke of genius, though, is assembling the perfect cast to bring this comedic gem to life. The lovely ladies of "Holliston", Corri English and Laura Ortiz, talked to Dread Central about the show.
If you enjoyed our Adam Green interview from last week (Part 1 here and Part 2 here), you're sure to love seeing what these two beauties have to say about creating the show from a feminine point of view.
Corri English began, talking about the new season of "Holliston": "I definitely felt that going into Season 2, not only were we much closer as a cast, I think we really kind of hit a stride in terms of playing off each other and there was a comfort zone with trying things. Nothing is really off limits on the set. Sometimes we throw something out there and it doesn't work.

Alrighty, kids! With "Holliston" Season 2 premiering tonight on FEARnet, we now have Part 2 of our interview with series creator Adam Green ready for your hungry horror-loving eyes. If you missed it, check out Part 1 here!
From the very beginning, "Holliston" has been close to Green's heart. In fact, the subject matter was so powerful it was a bit alarming to some close to him. "My family was concerned when I first showed them the pilot episode," Green said. "They said, 'This stuff, you're making a joke out of it now, doing it for comedy, but this was a horrible, horrible time in your life.' Getting over your first girlfriend is not as funny as we play it out to be in the show."
But Green and his crew manage to capture something very special with the show. "All storytelling is is sharing your experiences and that's what I'm doing,...

Last year the FEARnet original comedy series "Holliston" came storming out of the gate to become wildly popular among horror fans and, according to series creator and star Adam Green, grew a following outside the horror community as well.
"Holliston" returns to FEARnet this Tuesday, June 4, and Dread Central was lucky enough to sit down with Green to talk about the evolution of the series from its initial offering last year until now and what fans can expect to see with this new season.
"I think the biggest difference from Season 1 to Season 2 is there is a level of confidence now," Green said. "It's very evident from the first 30 seconds. Not that we've necessarily hit our groove, I think we had a groove in Season 1, but that we know that it's working and we're not afraid anymore. And the "Holliston" Christmas Special really showed that. Because with Season 1, a lot...

If you’ve been interested in watching Holliston, but your cable provider doesn’t carry FEARnet, you can now catch up on the first season for free on Hulu.
Holliston is a riotous and offbeat multi-camera, buddy comedy starring Adam Green (director, “Hatchet,” “Frozen”), and Joe Lynch (director, “Knights of Badassdom,” “Wrong Turn 2”). Set in the town of Holliston (near Boston), the series shines a light on the post-college life where everything is a struggle, and nothing works out like it’s supposed to, with terrifyingly funny results as Adam and Joe struggle to become big-time horror filmmakers, and Adam embarrasses himself as he tries to win back his high school girlfriend. Think of “Holliston” as “Big Bang Theory” meets “Evil Dead 2.”

Here's a fun Halloween short from writer/director Adam Green (Hatchet, Frozen) called The Tiffany Problem. It's a dark comedy made back in 2007 and it stars Joel David Moore (Hatchet, Dodgeball, Avatar), Corri English (Bedford Diaries), and Zachary Levi (Chuck).
The story follows a 30-year-old guy looking to go trick-r-treating with his friends while his wife stays home sick. She gets pissed off for going out, and he doesn't understand why she's trying to ruin his plans.
Enjoy the short, and Happy Halloween!
