Sales agent M-Appeal has released the trailer for coming-of-age title “Vera and the Pleasure of Others,” which was written and directed by the Argentinian duo Romina Tamburello and Federico Actis. The film will have its world premiere at Black Nights Film Festival in Tallinn, Estonia, in the First Feature Competition, it was announced Friday.

“Vera and the Pleasure of Others” follows 17-year-old Vera (played by Luciana Grasso), who divides her days between volleyball, school and a secret hobby: she rents out an empty apartment to teenagers looking for a place to have sex.

She steals the keys from her distracted mother (played by Inés Estevez), who manages different properties, and organizes everything. The teenagers come and go, using the apartment for a few uninterrupted hours. Playing invisible, Vera stays behind the closed door; her own sexual desires unfolding as she listens to other people’s pleasure.

The 17th Marrakech International Film Festival (Nov 30 – Dec 08) has set a jury comprising Suspiria star Dakota Johnson, Indian actress Ileana D’Cruz (Barfi!), Lebanese filmmaker and visual artist Joana Hadjithomas (I Want To See), Brit director Lynne Ramsay (We Need To Talk About Kevin), Moroccan director Tala Hadid (House In The Fields), French director Laurent Cantet (The Class), German actor Daniel Brühl (Rush) and Mexican director Michel Franco (April’s Daughter). As previously revealed, director James Gray will serve as jury president.

A total of 80 films will unspool at the festival, with Julian Schnabel’s Van Gogh biopic At Eternity’s Gate among gala screenings and also the festival’s opener. Variety published December 3rd an interview with Argentine producer/writer/director Daniel Burman regarding his new romantic comedy movie The Mystery of Happiness (El misterio de la felicidad), starring Guillermo Francella and Inés Estévez, and the international co-production team behind it. “It was a great experience," said the filmmaker in the interview. "Without a doubt, today Brazil is a natural ally for Argentina in film production".

Burman , along with partner Diego Dubcovsky, are the founders of production company Bd Cine and the Agentine half of the creative team behind The Mystery of Happiness. Together with Brazilian Total Filmes, Bd Cine continues to broaden the horizons of the Argentine film market through second-screen technology investment and its full commitment to Latin American content production.

“We believe that the development of new technologies driving the convergence of the different ways of telling stories,” said Burman, “and expressing ideas and emotions has tremendous potential”. Regarding the evolution of film market over the past few years, Burman said “ As directors, we need to dominate our egos and accept the fact that we no longer decide how our movies are to be watched. We only decide what they tell .”

The Mystery of Happiness is scheduled for release on January 16th, 2014 in Argentina.
