Exclusive: Ahead of It’s Florida, Man‘s Season 1 finale on November 22, the late-night comedy series has been renewed for a second season by HBO.
An irreverent, low-budget anthology comedy, It’s Florida, Man has been proof of concept for HBO, and its impressive performance is expected to usher in more shows developed under that cost-effective comedy model to the network’s late-night.
Acknowledging on an investor call last year that hit drama series in general provide better return on investment than comedies, Casey Bloys, Chairman and CEO, HBO and Max Content, has been looking to revamp the genre, mixing up high-end, star-driven vehicles with off-beat, cheaper entires as the TV industry across the board has been trying to bring comedy costs down.
HBO’s previous lower-budget comedy efforts under that strategy include Los Espoookys and How To with John Wilson.
The latest experiment, It’s Florida, Man, has delivered an attractive cost-vs.

YouTuber Josh Ludemann (@Crazydog500) posted an in-depth video with Sheridan discussing props from the original spoof movie. In it, Sheridan talks a lot about the mask from the film, along with other props and costumes they used, and he shares a lot of fascinating behind-the-scenes secrets.

We recently got confirmation that a Scary Movie reboot (though it might end up being more of a "requel") is moving forward with the original creative team of Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans and Keenen Ivory Wayans back on board.
Fans were hopeful that stars Anna Faris and Regina Hall - who played Cindy Campbell and her best pal Brenda Meeks in the first four movies - would reprise their roles, and both actresses have now discussed their potential returns.
It sounds like Faris and Hall would be interested in returning to the horror parody franchise if given the opportunity.
"I would love to work with Regina again," Faris said when asked if she was involved with the new movie by People. "I just love her so much. We would make each other giggle all day long. Regina Hall would be my answer. And money. But mostly all Regina!"

Eleven years have gone by since the release of a new entry in the Scary Movie horror parody series – but the franchise isn’t going to remain dormant for much longer. Back in April, it was announced that the Miramax label at Paramount, which is now operating under new boss Jonathan Glickman, had given the greenlight to a new Scary Movie sequel, with the plan being to get the film into theatres sometime in 2025. We recently learned that the series is being revived with the help of the people who got it started in the first place: the Wayans Brothers – and now Regina Hall, who played the character Brenda Meeks in the first four movies, has said she thinks it would be fun to come back and work on the new sequel with the Wayans.

For the better part of the last few decades, the actress has humored us with her brilliance in projects like the Scary Movie film series, The Hot Chick, Lost in Translation, and many more.
However, her defining moment as a comedy genius and actor came when she was roped in to star as Christy Plunkett in the hit CBS sitcom, Mom. From her quirky charm to her heartfelt performance as the sober mom trying to get her life back on track, Faris was the charm and draw of the series. If Hollywood is good at anything, it’s seeing what hits big at the box office and then churning out a hundred clones of that product until it gets driven into the ground. We see it all the time. One such incident came around the release of the 1978 film Halloween. Once it began to rack up box office numbers, everyone scrambled to put out their own slasher film, preferably built around a holiday. This led to a glut of slasher films – which, if you’re a slasher fan like myself, was a fantastic time to be alive. Let’s look at the best Halloween rip-offs.
Offerings (1989)
Offerings might be the most egregious rip-off Halloween there could be. A young kid accidentally falls down a well while playing with a group of kids. Some of them scare him as he’s walking along the edge, and he hits his head.

Scary Movie arrived at exactly the right time to capture the cultural zeitgeist in 2000. Almost 25 years after Scary Movie first took our cash, credit cards, jewelry and drawers, the iconic film franchise is back for more: Namely, our fleeting sense of aughts nostalgia, 90 minutes of our undivided attention and a $15 theater ticket.

On Tuesday, Marlon Wayans headed to social media with a Halloween-themed announcement, revealing that fans would soon be saying “wazzzuuuuuupppp!!!!!” to a new installment of the beloved horror/comedy series spearheaded by him and his brothers, Shawn and Keenen Ivory Wayans.

Back in April 2024, we reported that a Scary Movie reboot was in the works. Now, we've just learned that the franchise's creators Keenen Ivory Wayans, Shawn Wayans, and Marlon Wayans, aka the Wayans Brothers, are returning to produce and write the screenplay for the upcoming reboot, also widely known as Scary Movie 6. The Wayans Brothers' longtime collaborator Rick Alvarez will also help pen the script and produce.
Fans of the Scary Movie franchise were hoping to see the Wayans Brothers come back in some capacity for the sixth movie, and it looks like their wishes came true. Keenen helmed the first two Scary Movies, while Shawn and Marlon helped write the scripts for those films as well as star. They had nothing to do with the last three movies in the franchise.

The Wayans brothers are teaming up for the first time in years to help bring their Scary Movie franchise back to life.
Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans and Keenen Ivory Wayans are returning to the film series to pen the script for the new project that was announced earlier this year at CinemaCon. Known for satirizing horror flicks, the Scary Movie franchise launched with the first movie hitting theaters in 2000 and spawned four sequels.
Keenen Ivory Wayans wrote and directed the original Scary Movie and its 2001 follow-up, while Marlon Wayans and Shawn Wayans wrote and starred in those initial two movies. Paramount Pictures will handle global distribution for the forthcoming title through their first-look deal with producer Miramax, which distributed the first three features.
The three Wayans brothers will write and produce the new one with Rick Alvarez. The sixth title in the franchise begins shooting next year ahead of a planned theatrical release.

Eleven years have gone by since the release of a new entry in the Scary Movie horror parody series – but the franchise isn’t going to remain dormant for much longer, and it’s being revived with the help of the people who got it started in the first place: the Wayans Brothers! Back in April, it was announced that the Miramax label at Paramount, which is now operating under new boss Jonathan Glickman, had given the greenlight to a new Scary Movie sequel, with the plan being to get the film into theatres sometime in 2025. That announcement didn’t include any mention of writers or a director – but now Deadline has revealed that Scary Movie 6 marks the return of the Wayans Brothers to the franchise. They haven’t been involved with the Scary Movie series since the second movie.

We all adore Chris Pratt for that quirky yet adventurous role in the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise. He has become one of the most popular actors in Hollywood. Pratt began small but he rose through the ranks and soon became part of some major blockbuster franchises. He has shown his versatility through his roles in action blockbusters like Jurassic World and also his comedic roles in sitcoms like Parks and Recreation.
But Pratt isn’t just known for his on-screen success. He is also a family man. The actor, who is currently married to Katherine Schwarzenegger, can often be spotted spending precious time with the family, keeping his stormy profession in check with his lighter self back home. The Lego Movie star and his wife Schwarzenegger are now all set to welcome their third child, and Pratt is thrilled about expanding their family.
How many children does Chris Pratt have?...

Every few months, the Confederated Union of TV Trend Piece Reporters gathers to launch a flotilla of “Is HBO’s Sunday night domination over?” stories.
Game of Thrones ends? “Is HBO’s Sunday night domination over?”
Succession ends? “Is HBO’s Sunday night domination over?”
House of Dragons departs for an indeterminate period of time? “Is HBO’s Sunday night domination over?”
But the cool kids know that while HBO’s Sunday remains a center of beloved prestige programming that waxes and wanes in cyclical waves, if you’re looking for the future of television today, you’re better off turning your attentions to Fridays at 11.
I’ve said it before and I’ll probably say it again: This is where HBO is putting the good stuff, the weird stuff, the auteur-y stuff, the stuff you can mention at a party and know that anybody who knows what you’re...

If you’ve been on the internet for any length of time since about 2013, you’ve run into the “Florida Man” meme, premised on the idea that, at any given moment, a Florida man is wilding out in a way that’s possibly criminal and definitely irrational. If a man is almost dying getting a lap dance from his housekeeper, snorting coke to hide evidence after fleeing a traffic stop or jogging shirtless in defiance of Hurricane Milton’s imminent landfall, he’s a Florida man. He’s been immortalized in a website, an Instagram feed, a subreddit and quasi-Olympic “Games” where competitors wrestle in muddy water and tussle while holding pitchers of beer. He used to be the subject of a Twitter feed collecting kooky stories, but its curator, Freddie Campion, retired it in 2019. As he told Logan Hill for a piece in the Washington Post that year, Campion shut it down after wondering,...

Now, HBO Max is making a documentary about it.
Here is what you need to know about the new HBO Max docuseries.

Everyone knows that Florida is a crazy place where things happen that don’t happen anywhere else. HBO’s new late-night comedy series “It’s Florida, Man” celebrates that wackiness, telling ripped-from-the-headlines tales from the Sunshine State in a genre-defying way that’s something like a cross between true crime documentary and sketch comedy, or as someone says in the YouTube comments for the trailer released today, “Drunk History: Florida Man Edition.”
“As stories get wilder, more often than not, they’re not true,” says Carl Hiaasen, the novelist (“Bad Monkey”) and newspaper columnist who’s one of Florida’s foremost chroniclers. “But in Florida, they’re all true.”
The series hails from creator Mark Herwick and director Jeff Tomsic, who executive produce alongside “The Righteous Gemstones” EPs Danny McBride and Brandon James, with Bryan Storkel. The show features interviews from everyday Floridians about the stranger-than-fiction things that have happened to them.

Many horror fans probably know that one of the working titles for Wes Craven's 1996 slasher revival "Scream" was "Scary Movie." "Scream," if you'll recall, was a metanarrative horror film, a slasher populated by teenage characters who were movie-savvy enough to recognize they were, themselves, in a slasher situation. The killer had seen "Halloween" and "Friday the 13th," and arranged his murders accordingly. As a character says late in the film, "Movies don't create killers. Movies make killers creative."
"Scream" almost immediately entrenched itself in the pop consciousness, tapping into 1990s self-awareness and reviving the moribund slasher genre for the irony generation. It also wasn't long before the culture became self-aware of its own self-awareness, and thought to dissect the very act of dissection. The ironic mockery of irony was the dominant ethos of the late 1990s. Listen to Harvey Danger's "Flagpole Sitta" sometime for another example of the attitude at play.

But I’ve just come from an L.A. visit and cannot recall as bleak a black cloud hangover from the twin strikes of last year. It will take time for the business to recover, and this caution could factor into the dealmaking. Also on the minds of distributors is how elusive box office has become. Comparable films to the ones on sale here...
