Katinka Faragó(1936-2024)
- Producer
- Script and Continuity Department
- Production Manager
Katinka Farago was literally the collaborator of Ingmar Bergman who was closest to him, as she sat right next to his chair for decades as his script girl (or in a less sexist term, continuity clerk.) She was born in Vienna in 1936 with her parents having fled from Hungary, her father Alexander or Sandor in an interesting link to Hollywood being the author of the European play that the Astaire-Rogers classic Top Hat was based on.She landed the Bergman assignment in the early 1950s when no one else at his studio would do that job, based on his already well known displays of temperamental behavior, and as his assistant she would be the first he would turn to when he was displeased about something.Nonetheless their relationship lasted 30 years with her moving into the role of production manager on several of the later films, and then Farago became a producer in her own right.
