Apple TV+ has canceled High Desert following the conclusion of its freshman season, according to Patrica Arquette.

"A lot of you have asked about High Desert and if there was going to be a second season," the actress said in an Instagram video on Saturday.

"So I just wanted to let you know, we just found out that it won't be coming back," she added.

"So that's a sad bummer for all of us."

She thanked the crew, writers, actors and fans. "You can't win 'em all," she added.

Ben Stiller, who served as an executive producer on the series, also addressed the cancellation. 

"We are all disappointed," he wrote.

"Our entire #HighDesert cast was amazing and to all our fans, thank you for embracing this show."

"I Love Patricia Arquette, who gave an awards worthy performance," he continued.

The Apple TV+ series High Desert will not be returning for a second season, according to show lead Patricia Arquette.

The actress, who starred as Peggy, took to Instagram on Saturday to share the news in a video, with the caption, “It stinks.”

“A lot of you have asked about High Desert and if there was going to be a second season, so I just wanted to let you know that we just found out that we won’t be coming back,” Arquette said. “That’s a sad bummer for all of us.”

She went on to express her appreciation for the show’s writers, actors and the entire crew. “We just had a blast,” she added. “Thanks to you guys for watching. You can’t win them all.”

The comedy follows Peggy, a former addict, who decides to start a new life after the death of her mother and becomes a private investigator.

“High Desert” is headed beyond the horizon at Apple TV+. In a video posted on Instagram Saturday morning, series star Patricia Arquette shared that the production had not received an order for a second season at the streamer.

“A lot of you have asked about ‘High Desert’ and if there was going to be a second season, so I just wanted to let you know that we just found out that we won’t be coming back,” Arquette opened. “That’s a sad bummer for all of us.”

Arquette extended her gratitude to the crew, writers and actors on the series. The post was accompanied with a text caption: “It stinks.”

Representatives for Apple TV+ were not immediately available for comment.

“High Desert” follows Peggy (Arquette), a former addict, who decides to make a new start after the death of her beloved mother with whom she lived in the small desert town of Yucca Valley, California, and makes a life-changing decision to become a private investigator.

The series is created and written by Nancy Fichman, Katie Ford and Jennifer Hoppe, who will also serve as executive producers. Stiller will direct the first episode and executive produce through Red Hour Films alongside Nicky Weinstock. Molly Madden and Tom Lassally executive produce on behalf of 3 Arts Entertainment.

“High Desert” marks Apple’s second series with Patricia Arquette and Ben Stiller. Arquette is set to star with Adam Scott in “Severance,” a workplace thriller that will be directed and executive produced by Stiller.

Patricia Arquette and Ben Stiller are becoming quite the double act as the Escape at Dannemora collaborators have reteamed on a half-hour comedy for Apple starring Arquette and directed by and exec produced by Stiller.

Apple TV+ has ordered High Desert, created and written by Nancy Fichman (Nurse Jackie), Katie Ford (Miss Congeniality) and Jennifer Hoppe (Grace and Frankie).

The series follows Peggy, played by Arquette, a former addict, who decides to make a new start after the death of her mother with whom she lived in the small desert town of Yucca Valley, California, and makes a life-changing decision to become a private investigator.

It comes after Arquette boarded Apple TV+’s Severance, a workplace thriller starring Adam Scott, which Stiller is directing and exec producing. In addition to the Showtime prison drama, the pair also worked together on David O. Russell’s comedy feature Flirting With Disaster.

The story revolves around four characters - a petty thief who seeks a way out of his life after a roadside killing, and two broke sisters who team to get the bounty on a female mobster. They all collide in Las Vegas.

The story centers around a second-rate thief who tries to turn his life around, and two financially-desperate sisters who are trying to track down a female mafia kingpin for the bounty on her head. All four characters collide in Las Vegas, with brutal results.

Clark Johnson (S.W.A.T.) will direct from a screenplay by Nancy Fichman and Jennifer Hoppe. Jack Nasser and Joseph Nasser will produce and finance the picture through their Nasser Group North company.

Production is scheduled to start on August 29 in Canada.

Clark Johnson, best known as the director of S.W.A.T. , is planning a dark comedy called Fortune and Variety has a first look at the likely cast. According to their report, the film should star Kim Basinger, Heather Graham, Catherine O'Hara and Jason Patric. With a script from Nancy Fichman and Jennifer Hoppe ("Nurse Jackie"), Fortune deals with a thief and a pair of bounty hunter sisters whose paths cross in Las Vegas. Johnson was originally going to direct the upcoming Halle Berry/Great White Shark action-thriller Dark Tide , but the project ended up going to John Stockwell instead.

For adapted screenplay, I'm happy to report that Aaron Sorkin's fantastic script won! Based on "The Accidental Billionaires" by Ben Mezrich, "The Social Network" was the only film last year that I predicted to win this very category.

"I Love You Phillip Morris" came out of nowhere and secured a nod for the 2011 Writers Guild Awards. Based on the book by Steven McVicker, the film starring Jim Carrey and Ewan McGRegor as prisoners in love received a Best Adapted Screenplay nomination.

Writers Guild of America has announced the writers who receive nominations at next year's awards for their work in television. The most nod that one show gets is three, and that number is claimed by "Modern Family", "30 Rock" and "Breaking Bad".

"Modern Family" and "30 Rock", which have won Emmys, will be up against each other in comedy series and have each received two nods for episodic category. Meanwhile, "Breaking Bad" takes a nod in drama field and two additional episodic nominations.

AMC's "The Walking Dead" is vying for new series prize, battling "Boardwalk Empire", "Justified", "Treme" and "Men of a Certain Age" along the way. "Empire" in particular is also nominated for drama series against older and more prominent shows like "Mad Men" and "Dexter".

Today the Writer’s Guild of America kept the spirit of awards season happy by revealing their nominations for achievements in writing for television. Plenty of our favorite shows got some love from WGA members including like Mad Men, Breaking Bad, 30 Rock and Modern Family while plenty of new series like Boardwalk Empire, Justified and The Walking Dead also got some praise. Even the finale episode of Lost is in the mix of episodic nominees.
