- Cinematographer
- Second Unit Director or Assistant Director
Christina Fiers was born of a gypsy lineage who roamed the mountainous
region of Romania and Belorussia known as Carpathia. She believes it
was this gypsy spirit that enraptured her in the restless pursuit of an
artistic voice. After misfortunate experiences in modern interpretive
dance, bagpipes, trapeze work and reading tea leaves, Christina was
introduced to the world of photography by her father and has been
inseparable from her camera ever since.
Christina's passion for cinematography began in Sarasota, Florida while studying photography at the Ringling School of Art and Design. It wasn't long before she felt compelled to explore the storytelling talents of her ancestors in this visual medium. She continued on to graduate from the highly selective School of Motion Picture Television and Recording Arts at Florida State University.
Next, she moved to Hollywood where she soon joined the International Cinematographer's Guild working for a number of years assisting cinematographers including Emmanuel Lubezki ASC, Sal Totino, ASC, and David Mullen ASC. While doing this, she began to segue into shooting commercials, music videos and feature projects. One of the films Christina photographed, Volare, caught the attention of Steven Spielberg leading to a first look deal with Dreamworks SKG after being featured on his reality show On the Lot.
In 2006, she shot the feature-length Asian Contemporary Art documentary, The Rising Tide in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen featuring renowned artists Yang Yong, Cao Fei and Wang Qingsong.
Next Christina completed Sex Ed, a television pilot starring Joanna Cassidy (Six Feet Under, Bladerunner) and Matt Barr (One Tree Hill, Harper's Island, Hellcats).
In 2010, Christina was chosen by Women in Film to write and direct the award-winning Public Service Announcement Facing Fear for Daniel's Place-a non-profit support center for youth facing mental illness.
Through this experience Christina found herself gravitating to more projects of social consciousness believing them to be of increasing global significance. This passion led her to the David Lynch Foundation where she produced and shot content for the DLF.TV website and the Change Begins within Gala in 2011.
In 2012, she led the production team by producing and shooting promos and segments for Marianne Williamson's SisterGiant: Women, Non- Violence, and Birthing a New American Politics-a bold initiative intended to inspire and empower women to transform American Politics.
Christina continues to pursue projects that align with her vision of global harmony and cooperation.
