- Controller of BBC One (2005 - 2007). During this period, BBC One launched competitions on Blue Peter (1958), Comic Relief and Sport Relief which it was later revealed deliberately misled viewers. As controller of the channel, Fincham was ultimately held responsible for these embarrassing lapses, and he was finally forced to resign after introducing footage of Queen Elizabeth II, misleadingly edited to imply that the monarch was angrily walking out of a photo shoot, which was shown at a press conference for BBC One's autumn launch.
