They could only go their own way for so long (sorry). As has long seemed to be only a matter of time (and general stubbornness), iconic band Fleetwood Mac is finally getting their very own “fully authorized” documentary.
Apple Original Films announced on Tuesday the “definitive” and still-untitled new documentary, directed by five-time Academy Award nominee and Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Oscar winner Frank Marshall. And yes, as today’s press release tells us, “for the first time ever, Grammy Award-winning Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees Fleetwood Mac share their extraordinary story in their own words.” If they’ll share that story together in the same room at the same time, well, we’re not betting on it.

Last year, the Prime Video streaming service released the ten episode series Daisy Jones & The Six (watch it Here), based on the best-selling novel by Taylor Jenkins Reid – a novel that was partially inspired by the complicated issues Fleetwood Mac band members Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, Christine McVie, Lindsey Buckingham, and Stevie Nicks dealt with behind the scenes. It isn’t directly the Fleetwood Mac story, but comparisons are unavoidable… and Steve Nicks soon let it be known that she loved the show and had watched its full run multiple times. She said, “It brought back memories that made me feel like a ghost watching my own story. It was very emotional for me,” and she joined many fans in hoping that there would be a second season. Since Daisy Jones & The Six covered the full story of Reid’s novel and was categorized as a limited series,...

After Christine McVie’s death in 2022, Stevie Nicks mourned the death of her “music soulmate.” She recalled the years they spent together touring with Fleetwood Mac, relying on one another amid band turmoil. Still, Nicks said that before McVie’s death, they hadn’t spoken in some time.
Stevie Nicks said she hadn’t talked to Christine McVie before her death
Nicks and McVie shared a close bond while they toured with Fleetwood Mac. Nicks admitted that when they weren’t on tour, though, they went for long periods of time without speaking. This felt like a great tragedy to her after McVie’s death.

No, Stevie Nicks has not seen Stereophonic, David Adjmi’s hit Broadway play about a fictional (but very Mac-like) ’70s band recording what will become its (very Rumours-like) masterpiece album.
In fact, the singer who shared vocals (and decades of triumphs and tribulations) with her Fleetwood Mac bandmates Lindsey Buckingham and Christine McVie has never even heard of the Broadway smash.
In a new Rolling Stone interview promoting her latest song “The Lighthouse” (which she performed on Saturday Night Live earlier this month – just four blocks from the home of Stereophonic), Nicks was asked whether she had seen the play, which, among other storylines, chronicles the crumbling of a relationship between a Stevie-like singer and a Lindsey-like guitarist.
Here’s the exchange:
Rolling Stone: Have you seen the Stereophonic play?
Nicks: What is that?

Christine McVie had already spent several years in Fleetwood Mac when Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham joined the band. In the Nicks-Buckingham era of the band, McVie wrote many of the band’s hits and frequently closed out their concerts with her song “Songbird.” Before they joined the group, though, McVie said she stuck to a background role. She attributed this to laziness on her part.

Though McVie was always a singer and writer in Fleetwood Mac, she said she allowed guitarist Bob Welch to take the lead on most of the band’s songs in the early half of the 1970s. She became a background player in the band.

A former sound engineer who coauthored a 2012 memoir about his days working on the Fleetwood Mac album Rumours has filed a lawsuit, along with his coauthor of the book Making Rumours, against the makers of Broadway’s smash hit play Stereophonic, alleging that playwright David Adjmi relied on portions of Making Rumours in the creation of the similarly themed Broadway play.
Stereophonic, the suit states, “copies the heart and soul of Making Rumours, and is substantially similar.”
Stereophonic is perhaps best described as a roman a clef of Fleetwood Mac and the mid-’70s making of what would be their 1977 masterpiece Rumours. The play, which does not use the band members’ names or songs, fashions its characters and situations in ways that align closely to Mac’s classic line-up of Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, Christine McVie, Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham. The troubled recording of their seminal album, which endured months of romantic break-ups,...

In the "Star Trek: The Next Generation" episode "Manhunt", Betazoid ambassador Lwaxana Troi (Majel Barrett) hitches a ride on the Enterprise-d, partly to visit her daughter Deanna (Marina Sirtis), but mostly to flirt with Captain Picard (Patrick Stewart). It seems that Lwaxana is going through the Betazoid equivalent of menopause, and her libido is skyrocketing. As such, she seems determined to arrive at her destination with a husband in tow, and she doesn't really care who it might be.
Lwaxana Troi is a fun character for "Star Trek," as she is outspoken, charismatic, and tends to flout the buttoned-up formality that Starfleet officers abide by. Barrett played the role on six episodes of "Next Generation," and returned for three episodes of "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine." Her flippant demeanor allowed her to solve mysteries without thinking about it, and her stories tended to be personally dramatic rather than highfalutin sci-fi.

Edgar Wright is officially making The Running Man, a new version of Stephen King’s novel last adapted in 1987. Here’s how it could differ from that earlier one:
Most readers would likely agree that The Running Man isn’t the best of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s cycle of action movie vehicles from the 1980s and early 1990s, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t memorable. If you’ve seen it, you can probably quote a line or two (“Sub-Zero… now plain zero!”), or remember Richard Dawson’s captivatingly oily turn as game show host, Jack Killian.
You might recall the almost musical note that one of the villains, Buzzsaw (Gus Rethwisch), manages to hit when a chainsaw’s applied to his nether regions. Or even remember the bafflement of seeing rockers Mick Fleetwood and Dweezil Zappa show up.

Like practically every musician of her generation, Stevie Nicks was a fan of The Beatles. She wrote a song inspired by John Lennon’s death and enjoyed spending time with George Harrison. She also forged a very personal connection to the band when she had an affair with one of their longtime associates. Nicks wrote a song about their fleeting relationship.
Stevie Nicks wrote a song about an affair with a long-time Beatles associate
For the 1979 Fleetwood Mac album Tusk, Nicks wrote the song “Beautiful Child.” In it, she sang about her affair with The Beatles’ press officer, Derek Taylor. Taylor was such an important part of the band’s dynamic and day-to-day functioning that he became known as the Fifth Beatle.

In 2018, after decades of tumult, Mick Fleetwood, Stevie Nicks, Christine McVie, and John McVie decided to continue Fleetwood Mac without Lindsey Buckingham. Nicks and Buckingham’s relationship had been fraught since they joined the band. Their rift grew seemingly impassable when Nicks decided she could no longer work with him, though. Six years after Buckingham’s firing, Fleetwood expressed hope that his former bandmates can heal their relationship.
Mick Fleetwood hopes Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham can have a friendlier relationship
Several years after Fleetwood Mac moved forward without Buckingham, he spoke out about their decision, pinning it primarily on Nicks. He told the LA Times she wanted to remake the band “more in the Stevie Nicks vein,” something she fiercely denied.
“His version of events is factually inaccurate and while I’ve never spoken publicly on the matter, certainly it feels the time has come to shine a light on the truth,...

Well, I warned you. Kind of. While today’s story is released with Stephen King’s name plastered all over it, at the time of its release The Running Man was under the name of Richard Bachman, who had some dark stories attached to him. I was planning on doing this for a while but with the news that Edgar Wright is going to tackle the story in a new version that hopefully is closer to the book, it makes too much sense to talk about this dystopian horror now. While it’s a stalwart of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s catalogue of action, especially that range from 1987 to 1991, it’s not often looked at as a premiere Stephen King adaptation. It’s not expressly seen as horror but when it gets boiled down, both book and film, it’s horrific what happens in both stories and what’s going on in the worlds of both medias.

Fleetwood Mac fans were delivered rather somber news Monday when Stevie Nicks told Mojo that there was “no chance” of the band reuniting at any future point. “Without Christine [McVie], no can do,” she said. “Without her, it just couldn’t work.” By the end of the day, the intro to their Wikipedia page changed from “Fleetwood Mac are a band” to “Fleetwood Mac were a band.”
Just 10 years ago, they were in a radically different place. After 16 years of touring as a quartet, McVie suddenly returned to the fold, and...

Steve Nicks has confirmed that Fleetwood Mac are officially broken up for good, explaining that following the death of Christine McVie in 2022, “there’s no chance of putting Fleetwood Mac back together in any way. Without her, it just couldn’t work.”
Nicks and fellow Fleetwood Mac bandmate Mick Fleetwood have expressed similar sentiments since McVie’s tragic passing from a stroke on November 30th, 2022. However, in a new interview with Mojo, Nicks made her most explicit proclamation to date: “Without Christine [McVie], no can do.”

Nicks also noted that Lindsey Buckingham, who left the band in 2018 after the two had a falling out, has been dealing with his own health issues. Even if the two were to reconcile, she doubts he would be able to “do the kind of touring that Fleetwood Mac does, where you go out for a year and half. It’s so demanding.

The six decades of the Fleetwood Mac saga has come to an end. In a new interview with Mojo, Stevie Nicks dashed any hopes of possible reformation due to the death of Christine McVie. “Without Christine [McVie], no can do,” she said. “There is no chance of putting Fleetwood Mac back together in any way. Master of horror Wes Craven gave our favorite genre one of its greatest icons when he introduced Freddy Krueger in 1984’s A Nightmare on Elm Street, but he had very little to do with what happened to Freddy after that. As his character’s story continued, Craven had zero creative control over the Nightmares – aside from when he co-wrote the third film and wrote and directed the seventh film – and didn’t see much money from them. As he told Fangoria, creating Freddy gave him great credibility, but not a great payday. So when Alive Films asked him to create a new horror franchise that he would have control over and a financial stake in, he jumped at the chance. Alive gave him complete creative freedom, and he gave them Shocker (Watch It Here), mixing ideas from some of his previous films, like A Nightmare on Elm Street and The Last House on the Left,...

Arguably the best new American drama since Annie Baker’s The Flick, David Adjmi’s Stereophonic shares both a hyper-naturalistic style and a sprawling three-hour running time with that 2013 masterwork. But the similarities end there. Chronicling a turbulent year in California recording studios during which a fictional 1970s rock band labors over the follow-up to their breakthrough album, this is an immersive plunge into the fraught process of artistic collaboration as pressures mount and interpersonal harmony dissolves into acrimony.
Funny, raw and poignant in equal measure, this expertly sculpted play has the feel of both a behind-the-music docudrama and a lost Robert Altman film, with its astute microcosmic focus, its frequent wash of overlapping dialogue and its sly nudges toward satire. In fact, while the music — fabulous original songs written by Will Butler, formerly of Arcade Fire — is pop-rock rather than country, Stereophonic could almost be an expanded vignette lifted right out of Nashville.

Welcome to the Beatles Cinematic Universe. Continuing the current wave of music biopics — which just saw its most recent box-office triumph with Bob Marley: One Love — director Sam Mendes (Skyfall) has signed on to helm not one, but four separate Beatles biopics, all due in 2027. The movies, set to begin production next year, will each focus a single Beatle’s perspective, so John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and even Ringo Starr each get a turn in the spotlight.

Kali Uchis’ genre-jumping career has so far been evenly divided between Spanish- and English-language albums, which feels about right for an artist who was born in Virginia but spent chunks of her childhood in her father’s native Colombia. “When you aren’t just one thing and you are as multidimensional of an artist as I am,” she says, “I think it’s a lot harder for people to figure out how to sell me as a product. Dolly Parton isn’t done rocking yet. After sharing her new album Rockstar last week, our November cover star has returned with two new bonus tracks: Her rendition of the Eddie Money’s “Two Tickets to Paradise,” plus a new version of her classic “Jolene” featuring Måneskin.
The Måneskin-assisted version of “Jolene” is available exclusively with the digital download version of Rockstar on Parton’s website, though the country icon did share a preview of the duet on Instagram. It sounds like the new recording stays fairly faithful to the original, with Måneskin’s Damiano David taking on co-lead vocals with Parton.
“Jolene” appears on the deluxe edition of Rockstar, which also features guest features from Sting, Steve Perry, Joan Jett, Mick Fleetwood, Pat Benatar, Brandi Carlile, and many, many more. See a preview clip of Måneskin’s take on “Jolene” below.

Dolly Parton is arguably the most beloved living American. How many people are alive today because Dolly told them to get the Covid vaccine back in early 2021? Of course, she’s a paragon of country music, but her reach goes far beyond Nashville, from the disco pop of her working-woman masterpiece “9 to 5” to the soft-rock bliss of her classic Kenny Rogers duet “Islands in the Stream.” And the crossover love has been reflected back; one of the most popular cover songs of all time is Whitney Houston’s...

Stevie Nicks has echoed previous comments from Mick Fleetwood, saying “there’s no reason” for a Fleetwood Mac reunion after the tragic death of her bandmate and friend Christine McVie.

Dolly Parton has released the latest cover from her upcoming rock album, a rendition of the ’90s staple “What’s Up?” by 4 Non Blondes. As with many of the reimagined hits on Rockstar, Parton recruited one of the original artists: vocalist Linda Perry. Stream the track below.
Rather than trying to mimic Perry’s original vocals, Parton leans into her strengths on “What’s Up?” and sings “from the top of my lungs” as only she can. Three decades later, the song’s theme of intense societal pressures remains universal. Directed by Steve Summers, the video for the song was filmed at Eakin Elementary School in downtown Nashville. “Con permiso, Capitan,” the godlike being Q tells Captain Picard. “The hall is rented, the orchestra engaged. It’s now time to see if you can dance.”
Part warning and part explanation, Q’s statement tests Picard’s insistence that the Enterprise does not need his help, that humanity is fully prepared for whatever difficulties they encounter while exploring deep space. Yes, they can deal with Romulans, Klingons, and even that fishhead alien that Mick Fleetwood played in “Manhunt.” But were they prepared for the new enemy that Q sent them to meet? Were they prepared for the Borg?
The excellent season two episode “Q Who?” effectively introduces the Borg as the defining villain of Star Trek: The Next Generation, whose influence continues in later series, especially Voyager and Picard. The conquering hivemind represents everything that Starfleet is not, a demand for sameness and no respect for other cultures or variety.
