Lita Ford

Trivia

Lita Ford

Edit
  • Autobiography, "Living Like a Runaway", released in print on March 1, 2016 (CD version to be released later). The introduction was written by her good friend Dee Snider, with whom she has frequently shared a concert-stage; for this reason, and to Lita's delight, fans have affectionately nicknamed her "Twisted Sister's Twisted Sister".
  • She and Joan Jett were members of the all-female rock group The Runaways.
  • Once dated Nikki Sixx of the heavy metal group Mötley Crüe in the mid-1980s.
  • Her hit singles as a solo artist include: "Kiss Me Deadly" and "Close My Eyes Forever".
  • Is three days older than Runaways band mate Joan Jett.
  • Taking up the guitar at age 11, she joined the all-girl rock band The Runaways. Her fourth solo album "Lita" (1988) went platinum, and Guitar magazine voted her Best Female Guitarist (1989).
  • Ranked #95 on VH1's 100 Sexiest Artists.
  • Currently resides in Florida. Though past attempts at reuniting The Runaways have failed, a future reunion is still a strong possibility (2002).
  • At the 2013 Malibu Music Awards, she presented the Rock Legend Award to Cherie Currie and they reunited onstage after 35 years. (October 2013)
  • She has English and Italian ancestry.
  • Lita made a rare guest appearance on the LOU album "The Other Side". The song "I Want to Be Loved" featured Lita on guitar and vocals (2005).
  • Is portrayed by Scout Taylor-Compton in The Runaways (2010).
  • Was engaged briefly to Black Sabbath leader/guitarist Tony Iommi during 1985. He appears momentarily at the beginning of the video of her song "Dressed to Kill".
  • Was a Grammy Award nominee in 1984 for Best Female Rock Performance, alongside Wendy O. Williams and Pia Zadora.
  • Separated from her second husband of 16 years, Jim Gillette. (February 2011)
  • Has two sons: James Leonard Gillette, Jr. (born May 13, 1997); Rocco Gillette (born June 2001). The boys' father is her now-estranged second husband, Jim Gillette.
