Her first professional job was as a dancer in a rock 'n roll show, Dick Clark's Young World's Fair, at the International Amphitheater in Chicago.
Opened for Sarah Vaughn in the Circus Maximus Showroom at Caesar's Palace in 1968 as part of the singing group The Brothers and Sisters.
Sang back-up for Doc Severinsen and the Tonight Show Band in The Persian Room at The Plaza in 1969, while attending NYU Tisch School of the Arts.
