Merry Christmas, one and all, it's time to break out the mince pies (as if you haven't already), pour the prosecco and put on some festive music.
Christmas songs don't always have to be merry – among the most beloved festive tunes are "2,000 Miles" by The Pretenders, which is curiously bleak, and the heartbreak of Wham!'s "Last Christmas".
Of course, there are plenty of upbeat songs on our list, too, from Brenda Lee's "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree" to Mariah Carey's"All I Want for Christmas is You".
Here are some of our favourites, from Forties classics to more recent pop hits, to get your Christmas celebrations into full swing.
18) “Happy Xmas (War is Over)” – John Lennon and Yoko Ono
There’s a caveat to the optimistic message of the song’s title. “War is over,” sing a choir of children over festive tambourines, but only, they add,...

A generic spy story becomes an inspired light comedy with the application of great talent led by the star-power of Walter Matthau. Matthau’s CIA spook hooks up with old flame Glenda Jackson to retaliate against his insufferable CIA boss (Ned Beatty) with a humiliating tell-all book about the agency’s dirty tricks history. Matthau’s sloppy, slouchy master agent is a comic delight; Ronald Neame’s stylishly assured direction makes a deadly spy chase into a wholly pleasant romp.

Heavy metal icon and Motörhead frontman Ian Fraser "Lemmy" Kilmister died from cancer on Monday, the band's management has confirmed. He was 70. Since founding Motörhead in 1975, Kilmister was the band's sole constant member, known for his powerful bass playing, gravelly vocals, his massive mutton chops and his seemingly indestructible constitution, which somehow weathered more than 50 years of hard living, hard touring, cigarettes, alcohol and amphetamines. The band's longtime manager Todd Singerman praised Kilmister for mustering the energy to finish the Motörhead's recent European tour, saying his passing has caught them all by surprise. He said that neither

The long-gestating stage musical adaptation of the classic Meg Ryan/Tom Hanks rom-com Sleepless in Seattle looks like it’s nearly ready for its first curtain raise — assuming it doesn’t change its songwriting team for a third time.
The show’s producer, David Shor, announced today that they’ve hired composer Ben Toth and lyricist Sam Forman for the production, expected to open in Pasadena, Calif. in June 2013. Toth wrote the score for one of this year’s Sundance hits, Liberal Arts. Among Forman’s credits is the lyrics for 1999 musical I Sing!

Team builders to the smartest companies in tech, the founders of the Go Game are letting everyone play their coveted "textured scavenger hunt." Hr managers rejoice.
You might say that the Go Game, an iPhone game launching this week at SXSW, is the best-researched project in the history of location games. Founders Ian Fraser and Finnegan Kelly have spent the last 10 years running a hacked-together version of the game at corporate team-building events for Google, Apple, EA Games, Zynga, Facebook, Microsoft, and Intuit.
"The managers at Intuit, the guys that do TurboTax--they love it too," says Fraser. And apparently so does every other company in the Valley. In fact, the Go Game is already pulling down $3 million per annum in revenue without any apps at all.
Until this week, the game worked like this: Your business would hire Fraser and Kelly to come out to your company's home city for a party or event,...

Other recurring castmembers include Lise Cutter, Ernie Sabella, Jo Marie Payton, Belita Moreno, and Sam Anderson.
The ABC series ran for 150 episodes, from 1986 until 1993, and has one of the catchier theme songs of that era. According to Ian Fraser, Seattle's Cory Calhoun and Chris Bange "were at a karaoke bar with a group of friends and they were going through TV themes.
