Lives since 1951 in Los Angeles, California.

Brother of Jakob Gabbai and cousin of Schlomo Venezia and Morris Venezia. They were all deported with their families and arrived in Auschwitz on 11 April 1944. They were all chosen to become part of the 'Sonderkommando' in Auschwitz-Birkenau. They witnessed the Sonderkommando uprising in Auschwitz-Birkenau on 7 October 1944. Dario Gabbai survived and was later liberated by the US Army. Today he's the last known survivor of the 'Sonderkommandos'.

He worked in California outside the entertainment business, but he had once a small role in the war film The Glory Brigade (1953). His photo album contains pictures of him on set with Victor Mature and a young Lee Marvin. [Hollywood Reporter].
