Stephen King has had many of his books turned into films and shows, but 11.22.63 stands out as one of the best. Instead of squeezing a long and detailed story into a two-hour movie, the book was made into an eight-episode miniseries.
That gave the story time to breathe and allowed it to capture the detail and tension that King is known for. The best part is, it can be entirely watched in mere 8 hours.
The series is based on King’s 2011 novel 11/22/63 and mixes science fiction with historical drama. It follows Jake Epping, a recently divorced English teacher from Maine, played by James Franco.
Jake’s life changes when his friend Al Templeton, played by Chris Cooper, shows him a way to travel back to 1960. Al convinces Jake to take on a huge mission — stop the assassination of President John F. Kennedy on November 22, 1963.

Stephen King’s work has been adapted for the screen many times, but few adaptations have hit the sweet spot quite like 11.22.63. The limited series format turned out to be perfect for the story, letting it breathe without the heavy cuts that movies often have to make.
Based on King’s 2011 novel, the eight-part miniseries blends sci-fi, thriller, and drama, and it’s short enough to binge in less than a day. The best part is, it can be entirely watched in mere 8 hours.
The show follows Jake Epping, played by James Franco, a recently divorced English teacher from Lisbon, Maine. One day, his friend Al Templeton, played by Chris Cooper, reveals a secret, there’s a way to travel back in time to 1960. Al convinces Jake to take on a mission: stop the assassination of President John F. Kennedy on November 22, 1963. But life in the past isn’t simple.

A Big Bold Beautiful Journey, starring Margot Robbie and Colin Farrell, has been a mysterious project. Until now. Here’s the trailer.
Originally due in May, we’re now patiently waiting until September to see what Kogonada, the director of After Yang, has cooked up along with the rather formidable leading duo of Margot Robbie and Colin Farrell. The script for this mysterious project has been penned by Seth Reiss, the writer of 2022’s The Menu, itself a delicious 2022 satirical drama.
For ages, we only had this rather vague logline that promises a focus ‘on two strangers and the unlikely way that their paths align.’ Intriguing? Yes. Vague? Very much so.
All that has now changed though with the release of the film’s first trailer which promises a journey into the each character’s memories, seemingly powered by some kind of benevolent and all-powerful sat nav.
With that in mind,...

They soon are brought back together after some mystical Gps matchmaking of sorts and embark on a sweeping adventure through time in which they get to re-live important moments from their respective pasts via a series of doors they discover that act as portals. The journey will become what connects them.
Kevin Kline and Phoebe Waller-Bridge also star along with Lily Rabe, Jodie Turner-Smith, Lucy Thomas, Hamish Linklater, Billy Magnussen, Sarah Gadon, Brandon Perea and Yuvi Hecht. The pic marks Robbie’s first acting role since Barbie, and Farrell’s since The Penguin.

Following his tender, formally precise indie dramas Columbus and After Yang, video-essayist-turned-filmmaker Kogonada is stepping up to the big leagues with his next project. The Seth Reiss-scripted A Big Bold Beautiful Journey, starring Margot Robbie and Colin Farrell, was once set to kick off the summer movie season. However, Sony Pictures moved it to the more awards-friendly corridor of fall where it’ll now be released on September 19. Ahead of that release, the first trailer has arrived.
Here’s the synopsis: “What if you could open a doorway and walk through it to re-live a defining moment from your past? Sarah (Margot Robbie) and David (Colin Farrell) are single strangers who meet at a mutual friend’s wedding and soon, through a surprising twist of fate, find themselves on A Big Bold Beautiful Journey – a funny, fantastical, sweeping adventure together where they get to re-live important moments from their respective pasts,...

It’s safe to say that body horror is having a moment between recent releases The Substance, Grafted, and The Ugly Stepsister. It’s a welcome trend; body horror has a way of getting under our skin like no other, figuratively and otherwise. There’s no end to the creative ways body horror violates, mutilates, and mutates basic biology, finding endless ways to test the gag reflex in the process. Body horror has also long provided fertile ground for groundbreaking filmmakers to explore the psychologically and physically disturbing ways human anatomy can be abused.
There’s a wide world of body horror beyond Society, The Thing, Tetsuo: The Iron Man, Raw, Titane, or even David Cronenberg‘s horror output. For those looking to venture deeper into the stomach-churning abyss, here are 10 body horror movies you maybe haven’t seen from gateway horror to gross-out gorefests.

Anora achieves a new and amazing feat after being in the theatres for 144 days, owing to the increase in the number of screens post-Oscar wins. The film will soon arrive on its home streaming platform, and with that, it will once again witness harsh declines along with losing theatres. It is an independent movie, and its success financially and critically means that the audience and critics are increasingly embracing authentic, bold narratives that center on underrepresented communities. Besides the Twilight saga, Robert Pattinson's other Hollywood big break was in the 2012 drama movieCosmopolis, directed by the horror legend David Cronenberg.
With the recent release of the Bong Joon Ho-directed film Mickey 17, Pattinson would reflect on his work with other directors in an interview with the French cultural magazine Technikart. In the interview, when asked about his work on the Cronenberg-directed film, Pattinson states, "I love Cosmopolis. Don DeLillo's writing is sublime, it's as powerful as the lyrics of a song. When I got the script, I just wanted to read it out loud because the language is so beautiful."
Based on DeLillo's 2003 novel of the same name, the now 13-year-old film underperformed at the box office, earning only $7.1 million on a $20.5 million budget, and left critics polarized.

With the recent news that Dune: Messiah will begin filming earlier than anticipated, all eyes return to the masterful direction of Denis Villeneuve. The supremely talented French-Canadian filmmaker is best known for such epic movies as Dune, Arrival, Sicario, and Blade Runner 2049, but also for smaller and more intimate affairs like Prisoners and Enemy, both starring Jake Gyllenhaal and released in 2013.
Despite being the lowest-rated movie of Villeneuve's cinematic career on Rotten Tomatoes, Enemy's ambitious and ambiguous nature bears closer scrutiny. The mysterious thriller offers a fascinating character study and features one of the wildest Wtf endings, which will instantly stir debate and warrant repeat viewings. Even the lowest-rated Villeneuve movie is better than most, with Enemy highly recommended for fans of thought-provoking mysteries.

If there's one thing that moviegoers are a sucker for when it comes to their big screen viewings, it's an uplifting underdog tale of perseverance and tenacity. For decades, sports dramas have been the bread-and-butter in Hollywood, as audiences can't help but root for these courageous characters as they face adversity and monumental hurdles while trying to achieve their ambitious goals. Luke Wilson and Greg Kinnear joined forces to star in the emotionally-moving 2024 film You Gotta Believe, which brilliantly depicts the Fort Worth Westside All-Stars' remarkable season that landed them at the 2002 Little League World Series.
You Gotta Believe highlights the tremendous efforts the young team put forth to make it to the annual tournament, doing so to honor the ailing father of one of their players, who was undergoing treatment for his terminal cancer as the Llws played out. Underdog sports movies have slowly died down after they became such a huge sensation in the early 2000s. The reason, of course, is the narrative structure that said films follow. There’s always the hero’s journey somewhere in there while also being about the characters who shape the story for them. With time, the trope of this underdog became redundant, but few films every now and then were able to reconfigure or at least reaffirm why such stories are always important. They are rousing, relatable and inspiring. They give us hope in times when we find ourselves corned by our big ambitions. Ty Roberts’ “You Gotta Believe” is not one of those movies, though.
I mean, it does have all the usual tropes that you find in such films. It stars Luke Wilson and Greg Kinner as the co-coaches and dads of kids who are part of a little league baseball team.

Since its publication in 1897, Bram Stoker's novel, Dracula, has captivated readers and audiences around the world, playing into multiple genres. Countless adaptations of the book have been produced, with as many films that cast Dracula in different roles, from unlikely antihero to comedic villain. As one of the definitive villains of both literature and film, the Transylvanian Count remains a popular icon, unlikely to fade any time soon.
The tale of Dracula has been interpreted and adapted by varying filmmakers for more than a century, each one bringing its own unique take on the character. While some of these films sought to faithfully adapt Stoker's novel, others defined themselves as something new. This has given all Dracula movies their own definitive touch on the mythology, particularly the latest take on an unofficial Dracula movie.

For many decades, Stephen King's novels and short stories have been adapted into hit movies and TV shows. Iconic movies such as The Shining, Carrie, and The Green Mile were adapted from King's stories. Over the years, fascination with the worlds and characters created by Stephen King has not ceased. It's possible that the books of Stephen King have become more popular than ever before with the rise of streaming services.

Robert Pattinson's career can be properly divided into three wholly unique sections. It starts with his less-than-humble beginnings as a teen heartthrob in the Twilight saga and Harry Potter from 2005 to 2012. He followed that up with a highly underrated indie run, collaborating with legendary filmmakers like David Cronenberg, Claire Denis, Werner Herzog, James Gray, The Safdie Brothers and Robert Eggers. With a wide range in genre, tone, and a lack of ego throughout it all, Pattinson shattered the preconceived notion that he was "just a child star." This run specifically led him to where he is now. Today, he is not only one of the most sought-after movie stars in the industry, but he's also the man behind the mask.
While it's obvious that actors need to make a name for themselves prior to landing a huge role, there is something different about Pattinson's case. Strangely, a direct connection...

When it comes to all-time great runs in Hollywood's history, there are a surprising number of directors to choose from. Most of these auteurs hail from the Hollywood Renaissance, a specific period between the mid-1960s and early 1980s when directors took back their rightful place at the top of the cinematic food chain after spending decades as little more than the studios' hired help. This was an era of filmmaking that gave us Francis Ford Coppola, Steven Spielberg, George Lucas, Michael Mann, and John Carpenter, to name but a few.
However, while many talented directors made their mark during that incredible era, yet none of those previously mentioned names wound up making this list of the greatest four consecutive film runs in Hollywood hisory! That's because, when taking all of Tinseltown's history into consideration, a few names in the present and even one from the distant past deserve recognition as well.
