Dawn Garcia is a Southern Californian born and raised Latina. Growing up in a mixed race family, curiosity became the driving force for pushing boundaries, challenging the status quo, and devoting her life to the fight for equality and social justice. She started her career doing makeup, hair, and special effects, but soon heeded the call to write and produce.
She is a screenwriter, series creator and producer who has developed original TV series' and films. Her genres of choice are drama, dark comedy, comedy, and stories that explore the thread of human connection. Her strengths lie in empathetic story lines, descriptors and dialogue - both natural and raw - and while diffused with humor, inevitably she hopes to create work that empowers and shines a light on true representation in the industry.
She has launched 9 magazines, owns and operates 2 magazines, has a background in advertising for a major TV Network, production (pre-thru-post) experience. She founded a digital media company, and recently finished writing and developing a comedy TV Series for MGM Studios/Gato Grande Productions. She is a mother, partner, traveler, equality activist, art enthusiast and lover of life.
