Anyone remember From Paris With Love? Director Pierre Morel followed up the 2008 Liam Neeson hit Taken with a similarly enjoyable, although less critically well received, action movie in 2010 which starred a shaven headed John Travolta as Charlie Wax. And while it was less successful and entertaining than Taken, From Paris With Love was still good fun.
So in theory then, given Travolta is – or at least was – capable of convincingly taking part in a action movie I had reasonable expectations for his latest film I Am Wrath. And then there’s the crew involved: directed by Chuck Russell whose past works include Eraser, The Mask, and The Blob; and starring Rebecca De Mornay and Christopher Meloni, I honestly thought...

Now, there will undoubtedly be endless commentary about the tediousness of the ‘Family Man Out For Revenge’ trope that is relentlessly rolled out every time an aging actor needs a career boost, but here’s the thing – inexplicably, it often works.
It worked for Liam Neeson with Taken, it worked for Keanu Reeves with John Wick. It even, sort of, worked for Kevin Costner in Three Days To Kill. For all its terrible, predictable flaws, it is possible for this well-worn narrative to succeed – given the right actor, with the right material. Will that be the case with I Am Wrath though? Based on the first trailer, the chances are slim.
In the case of I Am Wrath, John Travolta is the family man. He has a wife and adult daughter, and is just trying to get by. He returns from a trip/job interview, his wife Vivian (Rebecca De Mornay...

With Liam Neeson still – forgive the pun – going great guns with the action portion of his career, other older blokes are looking to muscle in. We reported back in 2012 that Nicolas Cage was all set to make I Am Wrath with William Friedkin circling the director's chair, albeit never landing. Neither man is still attached; now Eraser’s Chuck Russell is calling the shots with John Travolta in talks to tackle the lead. Wrath, which was cooked up in the brains of Yvan Gauthier and Paul Sloan (with Sloan going on to write the script), finds a man distraught after the murder of his wife. But when the police are unable to collar those responsible, he discovers that they’re mired in corruption and decides to take matters into his own hands. Cue our hero going vigilante as he wades into the officers’ behaviour and swears to take down the perpetrators,...

After literally becoming Nicolas Cage in Face/Off, now John Travolta will be replacing the actor in the action thriller I Am Wrath. The film was previously in the hands of William Friedkin with Cage in the starring role, but The Wrap reports Eraser and The Mask helmer Chuck Russell behind the camera working from a script by Paul Sloan based on a story by Yvan Gauthier. That sounds like a considerable downgrade, but Travolta hasn't been doing much when it comes to quality films lately, so that's not surprising. In the film, he plays a man out for justice after corrupt cops are unable to catch his wife’s killer. It sounds like Travolta is trying to have his very own Taken, but considering we've gotten too much of that kind of thriller since the first Liam Neeson-starring vehicle hit theaters, I'm not filled with any anticipation. Production...

Exclusive: When Deadline revealed in Toronto that Emmett/Furla Films had set Nicolas Cage for the action thriller I Am Wrath, we told you that William Friedkin was circling to direct the project. I’m hearing that Friedkin is pretty much committed to do the film. Friedkin, who has helmed some of the great action crime thrillers – To Live And Die In La and The French Connection – will make this his follow-up to Killer Joe. Following the murder of his wife, Stanley (Cage) finds that the police are unable to catch the perpetrators. He uncovers a thick plot of police corruption and realizes that he will have to find justice on his own. As he awakens to the level of degradation of the people sworn to serve and protect, we get a little Rage in the Cage as he becomes a vigilante out to destroy those who abuse their power.

I don't think there's any question that Nicolas Cage is the hardest working man in Hollywood right about now. Well, okay, maybe hardest working is the wrong way to put it... "most often working" is more like it. The man seems to be churning out movies at a rate of 3 or 4 per year with a never ending stream of upcoming projects that he is attached to. I suppose debt will do that to you. After last week's announcement that he will star in David Gordon Green's Joe, we already have yet another new project on the horizon for him. Believe it or not, it's another revenge flick, but the thing that has me interested is the fact that William Friedkin (The Exorcist) is reportedly in talks to direct. According to Deadline, Nicolas Cage is attached to star in I Am Wrath, an upcoming action thriller from Emmett/Furla Films.

• Nicolas Cage is attached to the subtly titled thriller I Am Wrath, about a man who becomes a corruption-hating vigilante in the wake of his wife’s murder — so expect even more fodder for this glorious (and Nsfw) Cage mash-up. William Friedkin (The French Connection, Killer Joe) is eyeing the project to direct, but has not yet committed. Paul Sloan penned the script from a story by Yvan Gauthier. [Deadline]
• Joan Allen has signed onto the domestic thriller A Good Marriage, an adaptation of a 2010 Stephen King novella about a wife and mother who discovers her husband of two decades is a serial killer.

Deadline reports that Nicolas Cage, one of the busiest actors in the business, is set to star in the action thriller I Am Wrath for Emmett/Furla Films.
William Friedkin, the director of The French Connection and The Exorcist, who most recently helmed Killer Joe is in discussions to direct Cage from the script penned by Paul Sloan, which is based on a story by Yvan Gauthier.
The perfectly stereotypical thriller from the house of Cage centers on a man whose wife is murdered, and he finds that the police are unable to catch the perpetrators. So Stanley becomes a vigilante, trying to get the killers and expose the corrupt police department.
I Am Wrath is set to begin production in February and Lionsgate will release the film in late 2013 or early 2014.

Hhhm… Anyone think that Nic Cage mostly agreed to be in a film called I Am Wrath because it gives him the chance to do his crazy-eyes wackadoodle act as a viable character choice? We’re going with that as he signs on the dotted to lead the revenge action thriller.Wrath, which was born in the brains of Yvan Gauthier and Paul Sloan (with Sloan going on to write the script), finds a bloke called Stanley distraught after the murder of his wife. But when the police are seemingly unable to collar those responsible, he discovers that they’re mired in corruption and decides to take matters into his own hands.Cue him going vigilante as he wades into the officers’ behaviour and swears to take down the perpetrators, even if they happen to be wearing a uniform. Nicolas Cage has been cast in yet another movie! This latest movie is an action-thriller called I Am Wrath. Director William Friedkin (To Live And Die In La, The French Connection) is looking to direct the film after he finishes making Killer Joe.
Here's a description of the story:
Following the murder of his wife, Stanley (Cage) finds that the police are unable to catch the perpetrators. He uncovers a thick plot of police corruption and realizes that he will have to find justice on his own. As he awakens to the level of degradation of the people sworn to serve and protect, we get a little Rage in the Cage as he becomes a vigilante out to destroy those who abuse their power.
This seems like the kind of film Cage would take on, but not one I think I would enjoy seeing him in. It's kind of amazing...

Just in time to meet the teen vampire and werewolf craze fueled by Twilight and The Vampire Diaries is Neowolf from Lionsgate Home Entertainment. Yvan Gauthier's flick was once called The Band from Hell and, as you can see by the art, this one is "a love story between a girl and a werewolf." What it's about is a young musician who is seduced by a touring rock band called Neowolf. They have a mysterious past and a hungry habit that comes with the full moon. Veronica Cartwright makes an appearance and Tiffany Shepis is said to have a part as a "girl groupie." Look for it on April 20.
